A couple weeks later I tried to power up the hot tub and it still didn't work. I called to see if Doug would come again to look at it. It was going to be an additional $89 to check the work he did the last time he was here. I ended up having the hot tub company come out. They found the problem. Another wire was not hooked in correctly. They fixed it and gave me awesome customer service. My issue is that when I called back to talk to Doug about coming back out to re-check the work he was completely put off and I feel not interested in helping me. I won't be calling Mike's Electric again. I understand that he may not be an expert in hot tubs but the customer service just wasn't there.
Description of Work: I was charged $89 for a house call. Doug came and looked at my hot tub in order to check another guys work. He found that two wires were crossed and changed them out.

Response from Mike's Electric
On 09/04/09 the member called to request a service call. She explained that she had purchased an Oregon Hot Springs SPA. They had recommended someone for the electrical installation; she went on to say that she wanted this work to be checked by us to insure it was safe. I notified her that the City inspector would do that as a part on an inspection on a permit; she said she knew that but would feel better if someone could look it over. We made an appointment for 09/04/09 at 11:30 a.m. On the same day I arrived at 11:15 a.m. and met the member. She showed me the installation and what the previous installer had done. I checked the GFCI breakers to see if they were properly installed in the disconnect. Everything seemed to be okay. I noticed that a strap was missing off the conduit which did not pose a safety risk but should be installed to properly support the conduit. The member chose not to have me install the strap. I then opened up the tub to check the terminations at the control panel. Using the schematics that were on the cover of the control panel, I found that the wires coming from the disconnect had been reversed. I moved those four wires around landing them on the proper lugs. I noticed there were metal posts for the stairs hand rail; four of them were within five feet of the tub. I told her that these needed to be bonded to the hot tub. She asked me to give her a written proposal to do that work so she could talk it over with her husband. On 09/08/09 I called the member to let her know that I had gone on line to check and see if the previous installer had pulled a permit to do the work. I could not find that one had been pulled. when I brought this to her attention she got upset asking if I gave out their address and would the City find out about the work and that she did not want anyone from the City finding out. I tried to explain that a permit would help to cover her if something was wrong and if someone using the tub was to be hurt the insurance company could not deny converge based on non-permitted work. She did not want to hear about it. on 09/21/09 the member called to say that she had put water in the tub over the week-end and that one of the breakers was tripping and that she would like me to come check it out; she then added that she would not be paying for this service call because I must have missed something the first time. I told her that I guarantee anything that I had done but if there was a wire that had been nicked or something else that I could not see since I had not done the original installation, I would then charge her our minimum service call fee. She did not like this but made another appointment with us. I offered to come out that same day but she was busy so we made the appointment for the next day 09/22/09 at 10 a.m. On the morning of the 22nd the member called and informed me that the SPA company would come out for free and troubleshoot it and they had also told her that there were some common problems with many installations. She thanked me for making the appointment but she wanted to cancel it; she also said that she would be calling us back if they could not resolve the problem. The next contact we had was reading a bad review from her on Angie's List. I felt that we did everything the member wanted within reason to make them happy and provide them with a safe and professional installation. We take great pride in the fact that we have had many positive reviews from our customers on Angie's List and strive to serve everyone with fair and professional service

Very professional. Doug Miller wrote a very detailed estimate. I supplied the fixtures that I had bought online and they installed them exactly the way I wanted them to.
Description of Work: Tom and Mickey put ceiling fans in two bedrooms and had to update the wiring to do so. They also added a light in each of the two closets.

Working with Mike's Electric was a great experience, and I can't always say that about electrical companies. They were able to send an electrician on the same day I called (might have had something to do with that dangling old fixture and the exposed wire), and I was able to employ that electrician for the full hour that they had to charge for the service call doing other things I needed doing (I chose to add small extra jobs and pay for extra time - figuring it was better " to just get these things done while they were here"). The electrician, Aaron, was extremely helpful. He worked quickly and efficiently. I kept finding other "little" things I'd always wanted checked and he did those gladly and quickly (i.e. - test the outlets in the apartment and see that they all worked - he found one that was miswired and could have caused a shock - fixed that in about 2 seconds but saved me a crisis). I'm very happy with the service from Mike's Electric.
Description of Work: Aaron from Mike's Electric came to house and installed a new bedroom ceiling fixture that had fallen down when I had changed the glass and the old fixture was dangling by live wires. I also had him re-install 2 phone jacks that were pulled from the wall, and change an outside electric box from a hot tub plug in to a regular plug in.

Aaron arrived early due to a cancellation. He was very professional, quick and did a great job. He was very helpful when I asked about a future lighting project and had a concern about a dimmer switch. He gave me helpful recommendations about replacing hot halogen lamps. I plan to use this company for the future lighting project we discussed.

I made an appointment with Doug McCauley, the day I called. He came out later that week to measure our cabinets and look at the overall job. We just had our tile back-splash removed, so it was an ideal time to put in the wiring for under-cabinet lighting. Doug sent us an official estimate later that afternoon. The original estimate was too high for what we were budgeting. Doug worked with us and gave us different options to bring down the price. He was understanding of our budget constraints. Once we came to an agreement on the final estimate, Doug sent an electrician to do the work within the same week. We were under a tight schedule and Doug was very accommodating. Mike's Electric provided the lighting fixtures. It was a relief I did not have to research and purchase specific fixtures. The electrician did a great job installing the lighting. They installed a wall switch with in-wall wiring. The lighting highlights our beautiful new backsplash. When we got the final bill, it was lower than the original estimate--so that was a nice surprise. It took the electrician fewer hours than predicted. We had a positive experience working with Mike's Electric. We would definitely hire them again.

Mike's electric was near my house. I just dropped off the keys to the rental and they did the rest. They started work on the house on the following day......great. The entered the house and did the work on their own. What a time saver. They called me at work when the job was completed. That evening I picked up my rental house keys at their office and paid the bill. Very nice people. Later that night I inspected the work. Everything was done very neatly and worked great.
Description of Work: I needed to upgrade some electrical issues in my rental house. Specifically: 1) GFI switches in kitchen, laundry and bathroom. 2) New breaker switch. 3) New Outlet in dinette.

Estimator called right back and the crew arrived 2 days later, right on time. They did outstanding professional work and completed the job ahead of time. They were able to wire the garage switch through the wall which was really impressive. I have lived in Beaverton for 22 years and this company is the best electrician I have ever used. Will use them again for a major project in our kitchen and living room.

It went great, as always. She didn't bother our tenants at all. I am much more secure knowing the house is up to code.
Description of Work: Many small items came up in our inspection report of our rental house, including some handyman specials thanks to the previous homeowner. For example, outlets not working, GFCI dead, mysterious wire under deck, and about a 3/4 day's worth of other odds and ends.
