Even though it was a small job, the company seemed eager to do the work as they replied to an email in less than 24 hours. They came out, established the problem quickly (which wasn't what I thought the problem was) was and did a quick repair. The only small hiccup was that they didn't keep to their original appointment time but much to their credit they kept calling me throughout the day and kept me informed of what time they would actually be able to make it.

The replacement of two ceiling lights involved two visits, since some additional parts needed to be ordered. By putting some of the parts together and having things more organized on the second visit, I was able to cut the bill more than in half. I feel the installers did a through and efficient job and we would hire them again

We had been having flickering lights in our bathroom. They went completely out in bathroom, closet and one side of our bedroom. We thought it was a breaker that went out in the breaker box. We called Mike's Electric. They said they would be out at 1pm. They were here on the dot. The young man was sure it wasn't a breaker and he went around to all the plugs and found the one that was causing problem. We had a wire loose and it was shorting out. If he would not have spent time looking for the problem we may have had a fire in the wall and lost our home.

The job was done quickly, cleanly and effeciently. Everyone was polite and friendly. The job was well within the estimate. I would recommend them in a heartbeat!
Description of Work: I had the electrical panel replaced and a whole house surge protector added, most of the electrical outlets and light switches checked, replaced, and grounded as needed, and outdoor lighting was added (with motion detectors) one non-working outside light was repaired, kitchen lighting replaced and the wiring in the attic checked as I had a small electrical short last year.

I was relieved not to have a house fire situation, and delighted when I received the very reasonable bill for Mike's services. The team that performed the work was fast, professional, and responded to my questions of concern with detailed information and assurance.
Description of Work: When I left a bathroom light on for several hours, the wiring burned out in the entire bathroom and into the junction box mounted on a beam in the attic. Mike's crew came prepared for a minor repair and ended up replacing wiring for a room, removing two fixtures, and crawling into the attic.

Spoke with salesperson over the phone after leaving an email from Angie's list. Estimate was roughly $200 with labor at $89/hour and permit at $52. Estimate of labor was two hours. Actual work was about 2 1/2 hours but a remote fan power switch was fished into wall which was our change. The quality of the of work was very high. So the higher cost over the phone estimate was justified but not expected.

About as well as it could be done. They were prompt, responsive, tidy, and professional in every regard. In addition they took genuine pride in doing the job right. The electrician, instead of running a raceway across the ceiling, figured out how to make the job look like a ceiling moulding and basically disappear. He was pleased as punch at how well it looked. They also spent a lot of time and effort into getting this complicated, messy job done right, and they were very considerate of the tenants. The job took less time and cost less than originally anticipated. How often does THAT happen?
Description of Work: A rental house we own had been converted into two units before we bought it. New tenants wanted an additional circuit run to the living room, and when we got the estimate for this small job, it became apparent that many circuits for the two units were tangled up. Doug Miller came out to give us a bid and talked us through all the options and costs. We decided to go ahead and dis-entangle all the circuits so each tenant would pay his own electric bill. We cringed at the worst case cost ($4,700) but decided to go ahead anyway.

Aaron was just amazing! He did each job with such ease and had everything repaired and hooked up in no time. He was very professional and courteous AND he cleaned up so well that you did not even know repair work had been done. Contrary to others experiences, I thoroughly enjoyed Doug. He was very professional and, I must say, had a great sense of humor. His estimate was very much in-line with what we were expecting. I'd highly recommend Mike's Electric and will use them again.

I asked for an estimate in advance and Doug Miller, the owner, came out to do one. He seemed knowledgeable and wrote everything down ( I had previously emailed them a detailed list of exactly what I wanted done.). I had to call three days later because I had not received the estimate. I was told he hadn't gotten to it yet and I could expect it in a couple days. When I did get the estimate five days after he came to my house, it was a range $995 to $1275 plus the $89 for a permit. I was surprised at not getting a firm bid and the range seemed too wide since I had exactly detailed what needed to be done and they had personally inspected the site in advance. I should have gone with one of the other companies I realize now, but I was swayed by Angie's List. The crew, Tom and Mickey, arrived on time on the scheduled day. I showed them what needed to be done and left them to do it. They put in a full day and did a fair job. They had to cut several holes in the walls which I hadn't counted on, but I guess I should have expected. So, I ended up having to hire a sheetrock person to fix those. The three light fixtures were installed too high on the wall and I will have to get them lowered. The junior electrician attempted to install a dimmer switch without turning off the circuit and ended up burning himself and ruining the dimmer. The two men were friendly and did the work described on their paperwork, but overall the experience was not what I had expected based on the reviews on Angie's List. The final bill was $1355 including the permit, the high end of the estimate.
Description of Work: They installed two new 20 amp circuits so each of the two bathrooms could be moved to a dedicated circuit and added an additional outlet in the master bathroom. They also removed existing light fixtures in both bathrooms and installed new fixtures.

Response from Mike's Electric
The member received our proposal in five working days. We take our bids in order and she never mentioned that she would need the proposal in a very short time. Our estimated cost including permit was $1,084.00 to $1,364.00. The wide range is based on not knowing what we will run into on a remodel, i.e.: what is in the attic blocking in walls. Cutting holes in walls is something we try not to do but in this case we had to cut the sheetrock to be able to run the new wires; beside in our general notes we clearly state the possibility of sheetrock repair. The member wanted us to leave the two existing master bath ceiling fixture boxes in place after we removed the fixtures and just blank it off. We could not leave the boxes in the ceiling because they both hung down below the finished ceiling making the ceiling looking not very pretty. We removed both boxes and re-spliced the wires in the attic. This was not part of the proposal and it could be a perfect example of why the price range, since it took longer to have this done (unforeseen issues) We also changed out a ceiling blank cover she had not liked, replacing it with a type she liked, at no charge. The member also mentioned the height of light fixtures being too high: that is our normal height of installation unless the customer tells us they want a different height. Based on the work we did and extras and still coming in within the total project cost of $1,355.00 (within the projected cost range) I am not sure what more we could have done for her. We had the electrical inspection from the City of Beaverton and passed it without any corrections.

They installed outlets in the ceilings, putting the projector and the screen up on the ceiling. I also needed a whole new circuit put in the bathroom. They had to take the power from the bedroom and take it to the other side of the wall to the bathroom. Doug, the owner, actually came out and looked at the job. He estimated everything that needed to be done. He was very professional. They really knew what they were doing and did beautiful work. They cleaned up after themselves and vacuumed the floors. They were here the whole day and worked the whole time. They left it beautiful. They gave me the name of a gentleman who is an expert in doing patchwork. He would come out on a morning to do the work. I am assuming the work to be done perfectly. They were really thoughtful and very careful about what they were doing. They saved me about $300 to $400. The price was more than his estimate, and he had explained why it was so. They showed up exactly when they said they would. I was completely satisfied with the work they did.

Description of Work: We had several things they could fix. The reset electrical unit on our large pond had burnt out and needed to be replaced. They replaced that quickly and efficiently. We went with another contracter due to the quote comparison. This contractor quoted range of $650.00 - $745.00 plus the cost of permit of $52.00. The other contractor charged a flat price of $584.00 including the permit. They appeared punctual, professional , but unfortunately we prefer to have a more predicatable expenditure and preferred the flat price approach with one price that includes the entire job.

Mike's ELECTRIC, A-rated on Angie's List and close to my house was my first and only pick. Mike's was previously unknown to me as was the area where the office is. So I went to see Mike's. I found them pleasant and accommodating. I had my order in and was out in a few minutes with an estimated time of arrival for the electricians, the time to complete the job, and the estimated cost.of labor and materials. The job was completed as planned plus a couple of added tasks. I received the bill in a couple of days. Found it satifsfactory and settled in a couple of more days. My wife likes the new cooktop and has pronounced it good.
Description of Work: Electricians, Tom & Micky, arrived a few minutes before the hour ready to HOOK UP a NEW COOKTOP. They REMOVED an existing "FLYING SPLICE" and INSTALLED a JUNCTION BOX to bring the 40-year old kitchen's 220V branch up to code. They CONNECTED the REPLACEMENT COOK TOP. They TESTED the new COOKTOP. They UNCOVERED and INSPECTED the CIRCUIT BREAKER BOX. They HAULED OFF the OLD COOKTOP and the replacement BOX/ PACKING.

Our daughter and her husband bought a condominium. They had baseboard heaters. They wanted them replaced with new heaters. We talked to some electricians. We got several estimates for the job. Mike?s Electric came out and they were wonderful. They were clean in their work. They knew what they were doing. They were on time. Their prices were good. We had asked in a few places and we felt that the price of Mike?s Electric was worth the job they did. They took care of any inspections that were required. We had a lot of questions for them and they responded well. They told us how to maintain the heaters. They were very good about everything. We had absolutely no problems with them. We are very happy with their work. We?d recommend them to everyone.

-The repairman, Aaron, called me and asked to come earlier than the expected. which was Ok. - As he did his work - very efficiently - he explained what he was doing and why I had the problem. - Since the work he did was very simple he finished in less than an hour. He did a decent job cleaning up after himself- sweeping up debris that fell when he was working on the florescent light.
Description of Work: -Work was done by Mike's Electric -I was told the hourly rate - the first hour includes travel time- but no estimate was given other than that. That was acceptable to me - how would one have know without knowing the intricacies of the problem? -The work: Checked electrical outlets that weren't working and did what was necessary to make them function again. Took old floresent ceiling lights out and capped the holes
