Mike's Electric

Mike's Electric called within a day of our Big Deal purchase and we scheduled the Whole House Inspection. The guys were right on time and got right to work. They were methodical as they proceeded through our house. At the conclusion, they walked me through their findings. They were great; punctual, professional, respectful. I wouldn't hesitate to use Mike's Electric in the future.

Literally, checked every outlet, light fixture, under kitchen sink, etc. and wrote up suggestions for improvements. Talked with me about prioritizing problems. Offered to fix some of the problems while they were in the house and did so for a VERY reasonable extra expense.

I had decided to add an above the range microwave. I live in an older townhouse and the wall where I needed the power is a firewall, so there was more work required than I anticipated. (they had to run power under the house and through the back of the cabinets.) The electrician was very helpful and explained what they would have to do to drop power into that cabinet. They were professional and made sure I knew what to expect. I am very pleased with the work and would definitely use Mike's Electric again!

Excellent job. He took a lot of care to ensure correct placement of the lights and the height I wanted and checked with me twice to confirm it was correct. He also cleaned up really well upon completion of the work. Very satisfied and will definitely use them again.

This was an Angie's List special 2 hours of work for $99. Extra time was charged at their standard rates. I had purchased the fan used and he had to put it together. There was a problem with one of the metal brackets for a fan blade. I was relieved when he was able to fix it. That showed how good he was. He and the apprentice working with him were very pleasant, professional, and did great work. I gave a B rating for price not because I thought they were any more expensive than anyone else but electricians are just expensive. I believe I got a good deal with the special though.

The guy addressed some of our concerns. But this is an older house that we moved into a tear ago and our 2 main concerns went unaddressed :1) finding a way to turn off our garden lights (they mysteriously turned on by themselves and will not go off & they don't have a switch) 2) Finding the switch for a pair of lights in our living room. He did try, but the 2hour limit waqs almost over and I felt that maybe someone with more experience with older houses would be more productive.

It went fine. They were out on time and did the job. Everything was acceptable. They were going to charge me more, but I questioned it and they took the charge off. Two guys came out and one was the main electrician and the other one was kind of a helper. They both were very friendly and did a good job.

I called him and he was very polite in letting me know that he is booked for about a month. I needed the work to be done sooner so I was able to get a refund from Angie's List, but my conversation with Mike's Electric was a pleasant one.

Mike's Electric is better than great!! After calling me to make sure it was okay, they came early and replaced the ceiling fan. The fan has been working perfectly ever since they installed it. I will definitely use this company again!

I used an Angie's List coupon for some minor electrical work: Over the kitchen cabinets, to move four loose sets of capped wires into junction boxes?2 covered, 2 into outlets. Then, if there was time left on the coupon, to change the ballast on the fluorescent light fixture in the laundry room. I was told I would get 1.5 hours of work, rather than the two of the coupon, because there was an apprentice on the job, not just one person. I was told that permit costs were extra. I agreed to both items. The rookie damaged a new T12 ballast that I had purchased, so they coverted the fixture to a T8 with parts they had in their truck, and swapped out the tubes to work in the modified fixture. I wish they had asked first, but the T12 fixtures are apparently being phased out anyway, to moving to the T8 is OK. But they did run over the time allotted on the coupon. I think if just the lead electrician was on the job, it would have been done much quicker and neater -- as quite a bit of time was spent correcting the rookie's mistakes. I didn't think I should pay for that. When I emailed my concerns to the office, they immediately reviewed the facts and adjusted the invoice. Because problems were corrected, I am giving them an overall "A" rating.

The electrician was prompt and did the job well. He did not have a certain part that he needed and had to come back the next day to finish the job. My tenant hasstopped complaining about the light bulbs burning out too fast.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I purchased a house back in September and I have all kinds of problems with the wirings. I contacted my dad about it and he told me to go see Mike's Electric. So I went over and talked to the owner, Darrell, and he was great. The guy got it done in a day or 2 and I've had no problems with that house since. I would definitely use them on anything.

He was on time. He seemed a little slow but he got it done. It took 2 hours and 45 minutes to put in two lights. There was a complication but it shouldn't have taken that long in my opinion.

These guys were fantastic! The master electrician and his fine apprentice arrived promptly, began work immediately and were in and out in about an hour and 45 minutes. Quiet, professional, clean, competent - everything you could ask for. They listened when I explained what I wanted, and didn't laugh when we found out that one of the outlets I thought was "dead" was working fine. They completed everything on my electrical "to do" list in record time. I would recommend this company to anyone without reservation!

Mike's Electric went above and beyond. Part of putting up the light fixtures was putting in these light blocks or siding. That was a little bit above and beyond what electricians would do. Not all of them do that. Sometimes, you have to hire somebody to do that, before the electrician would come out. But they did that. So I was very pleased with that. He did a really good job on that, too. Because he had to cut out my siding and install that block and caulk it, before he could even put up the light fixture. One thing that was a little misunderstanding was that the Big Deal was for two hours of labor. Then, if they bring two electricians, usually a journeyman and an apprentice, then instead of getting the two hours for $99.00, you get the first hour and a half for $99.00. The guy explained to me when he got here that it would be that price, since there were two of them. He said usually, they can do a lot more in an hour and a half than you'd get for one electrician for the two hours. So I thought that was good. I was fine with that. But they were here longer than the two hours. So, when I got the bill, the way they figured out the billing, I didn't agree with it. They were here three and a half hours for the total time. Then, they deducted out of that, two hours at the journeyman rate. It wasn't what they told me. They did an hour and a half at the Big Deal price, and any time after that, was billed at their regular hourly rate, which is $140.00 for a journeyman and $80.00 for an apprentice. Bottom line is, when they figure it a different way, then I owe them an additional $38.00. I don't believe they are correct. I have worked in accounting and bookkeeping, so I know how to figure things. When I called their office to ask, the owner was out of the office and the person I talked to, it was beyond his realm, I believe. So I have yet to hear from the owner and I haven't paid him yet. Actually, I've been wanting to do it, because it's been a good week, since I got the invoice. It's confusing. They're very nice. This is the second time I've used them. I don't think the owner will argue when I tell him. It is also in the fine print that was given to me. But I would use them again. I like them. Their work was fine. I was very pleased with the work that they did. They're very prompt. They like to retain their "A" rating at Angie's List, so they usually aim to please.
