I called Mikes to get information about fixing a problem. I had several questions which were answered with patience and thoroughness. During the conversation the Mike's staff person told me about the whole house inspection which sounded like a good idea since our house was build in 1972 and codes may have changed since then and I wanted to have a jump on any potential problems. Aaron and Lall went over the whole house, wrote a report and discussed it with me. A couple of days later I receved a typed report from the company which was very well detailed and which enables me to choose what changes or upgrades I want to do first and to know what the cost will be. The problem I originally called them for was solved and corrected quickly. This is the second time I've used Mike's and would use them again.

They did all work as described, and on schedule. Everything was done with an eye to detail. Even the city inspector remarked, "Wow, Mike's does fabulous work." They labeled all the circuits and the final installation was extremely neat and tidy. Above all the communication before, during and after the work was outstanding. They told me when they would be here, communicated with me each step of the way, and made sure that everything was good before they left. I highly recommend Mike's for any electrical work.
Description of Work: It's a duplex. They changed over the service from 60amp/100amp to 200amp/100amp, which required relocating the PP&L service from one corner of the house to another. The 100amp box only required adding the new service line. The 60 to 200amp in Unit required complete removal of the existing main and sub panels (complete with knob & tube) with a new panel that also had to be relocated to adhere to code. It was a complex project due to the age of the house, and included routing the 200amp power line from one end of the basement to the other.

Great job. Technician recommended ditching older tube fixtures and replacing with smaller modern units. Work was done in about three hours; junk removed, kitchen cleaned up. lighting is far superior to old lights. Also fixed a short in my under counter lighting.

The 2-man crew arrived right on time and completed all the work within the 2-hour time frame. They were very courteous and knowledgeable and careful to leave not traces or debris when they left. I am very pleased with the work done by Mike's Electric and recently contacted them to do some addition work for me in my kitchen. Darrel recognized me when I called and gave me a reasonable quote over the phone for installing a new microwave vent hood and slide in range. I was able to schedule another appointment next week
Description of Work: The team replaced a bedroom light fixture and added a timer switch. They also repaired 2 light switches and an outlet that wasn't working. I purchased a 2-hour Angie's list deal for $99.

Great all around and in the future you bet I will be calling Mike's Electric when I need electrical work done on my personal home, as well as rental properties. In terms of my personal experience I was very impressed by how well organized they were, from bidding the job to scheduling the county inspector, for my final after everything was complete, they were on every detail 110%. Mike's level of customer service is extraordinary and I greatly appreciated Mike's team being in clear communication with me throughout the entire process. I truly cannot say enough about how nice it was to be taken care of as a customer and how that in-tern made for an easy, stress-free experience.
Description of Work: Removed old fuse box and relocated a new electrical panel in home, updated grounded & bonding of electrical system, arranged for electrical inspection from the county for my final electrical inspection. They did great work and I passed my final with final colors.

We needed an electrician for a small wiring issue. Chose Mike's because of the whole house inspection special they were running. For $89.00, 2 men came right on time, spent over 90 minutes going through the whole house checking everything to do with the wiring. They repaired a faulty gfci and discovered another gfci that had loose wires. It was the best $89.00 we've spent. They were professional and helpful so would hire them again with no question.

I had Mike's perform a whole house electrical inspection. I had two different experiences. I found dealing with the office difficult but the two men who came to my house to perform the actual inspection were excellent! | |The first issue was scheduling the inspection. I used the web site scheduling option but was never contacted. I called on the phone and was told that they were having issues with the web site. It was easy to schedule via the phone. I explained that I had two issues I was concerned about, a refrigerator in the garage that was tripping the GFI and a "blackened" dimmer switch. I was assured that the inspectors would have time to perform any repairs or I could schedule a follow up appointment. | |On the day of the appointment, the inspectors arrived on time and were very friendly and professional. They split up the tasks but told me what each of them would be doing. They explained to me what they were looking for. At the end of the appointment, they told me what they found but didn't have the paperwork so the office would be sending me a detailed inspection report and an estimate of the work. Unfortunately, they didn't have time to make any repairs (my second issue with the office). While they didn't fix my GFI issue, they did find a plug in the garage that was on a separate circuit and even ran the extension cord to it for me. They also reassured me that the "blackened" dimmer switch was not an electrical issue and just grease. | |It took almost 3 weeks for me to get the report and estimate via email. I would use the electrician's again without hestiation. I'm not sure about the office.

Aaron and his assistant Alex arrived when scheduled, wasted no time and worked very professionally. I am rather picky but I am so happy to see how well everything is placed. It is exactly the way I would do it if I had the skills to do it myself. Thank you Mike's Electric! I have used this company for years and they never disappoint.
Description of Work: Aaron came out and put in a new electrical panel with more capacity and a car charger outlet and updated a regular outlet in the garage. Everything was grounded properly and all the work was done very well. My new panel is labeled clearly - for the first time I can actually read an electrical panel - and we now know where everything is. We also have more capacity in case we need it.

Mike's Electric offered professional, reliable, and prompt service. The work that was done required 2 trips to our home, one with the use of scaffolding. There was some technical difficulty encountered during one of the jobs installing a ceiling fan on a high and sloped ceiling. The work was completed well and professionally. We were very pleased with the service. When the invoice for the second visit came, I had questions about the amount charged. I was given the opportunity to explain my position regarding the charges, my concerns were listened to and fairly considered. In the end, I felt that the price was very fair (not low, but fair). One of the ways to know whether you will be satisfied with a company is to understand how questions are addressed. Daryl was very pleasant and very reasonable as he heard my concerns. I think that the decisions he made about the invoice were based on an objective review of the situation and were very fair. I am happy to be able to recommend Mike's Electric to others.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. He was polite, on time and did what he was asked to do. They wore little booties and were careful about not dragging in any dirt and scuffing any walls. They needed a big ladder and the main electrician brought an aide with him to help since they were working at great height and in some peril, I suppose.

Amazing! We had some botched work done by another electrician, and one highly rated on Angie's List at that, which needed to be repaired. Also, we had discovered an extensive system of knob-and-tube wiring up in the attic, poorly-spliced and covered with insulation. We had three electricians come out and give an estimate on it; but Doug at Mike's Electric seemed far more knowledgeable and insightful. He also advised that I could move some of the attic floorboards and insulation out of the way of the wiring, to save a good chunk of money on the job. When the service was performed, Brian & Brad showed up right on time, and got the conduit issues sorted out, and half the k&t wiring replaced in a day. When I got home, I took a quick spin through the attic: I couldn't believe how much wiring they had replaced, and how well they had done it. They also the place very clean, which was a nice surprise from working with other contractors. Day two: They finished up the k&t on the other side of the house, met with the inspector for a successful inspection, and since we had a bit of spare time scheduled with them, we decided to have them put in a new light fixture box over our (formerly dark) dining room table. At every step they were polite, punctual, and performed exceptional work. We'll be sure to use Mike's Electric in the future for subsequent electrical needs.

We bought a new washer and dryer at best buy and when they delivered the guy said he could not plug in the dryer because the cord was a 30 amp and the receptacle was the old 50 amp. He said we could replace the cord if we wanted or change out the receptacle. After checking online we decided to just replace the receptacle and circuit breaker. Found Mike's on Angies list and based on good reviews decided to call them. The guy told me what the approximate cost would be and I thought it was reasonable and they would be able to come out within a day so we hired them. When I made the appointment I was told he had an opening at noon on the 3rd. I was not yet living in the house so I planned my day to get there just before noon and knew it should only take a short while so had other plans for the rest of the day. I waited till about 12:20 before I called the company to find out why they weren't there yet. I was told that my "window" was 12-2pm so they were not late. I informed them that when I made the appointment it was not explained to me as a "window" of time but was told they had an opening at 12. They checked with the guys and were told they had already stopped by but nobody was there. I told her I arrived at the house around 11:50 and nobody had been there since then. She said they were on their way back over and would arrive shortly. They did get there a few minutes after that and apologized for the mix up. They said they came by about 11:30 in between jobs but I wasn't there yet. They worked very quickly, one guy did the receptacle and one did the circuit breaker and they were done in like 10 minutes. They said I wouldn't get charged for 2 guys but of course they have to charge for one hour of labor and the cost of the parts which would be minimal. They did not know what the exact cost would be and said I'd be billed. The guys that came out were polite and efficient. I received the bill shortly after and was charged one hour of labor which was $104 and $23 for parts. I was satisfied with the cost. My only complaint about this company is communication. I should have been told on the phone initially that it was a window of time for the appointment not that they could get me in at noon. I would have been fine with them showing up when they did if I had known ahead it might be as late as 2pm. Other than that the experience was fine. I would recommend them with the caveat that you ask specifically about your appointment time.

I scheduled an appointment with two weeks anticipation and moved my work schedule in order to be home during the two hour window provided. The electricians failed to show. I will be looking for another provider and recommend avoiding Mike's Electric.

We appreciate the opportunity member gave us to do work in his home and regret that a scheduling problem at a previous customer's location created a delay in our arrival. We had arranged an arrival window of between 10:00 a.m. and noon. Prior to noon, the customer was called and advised of the delay. We told him we would be able to keep the appointment for that day, only that we would be about two hours late. He offered to reschedule to the following week and we set an earlier arrival time for that appointment so that he would not be inconvenienced again. This seemed completely acceptable to him, so we are surprised at his comments. As of this time, he has not called to discuss the problem, or to cancel the rescheduled appointment that he requested. Scheduling a mobile service business to minimize wait times for customers can be very challenging. We schedule in two hour blocks, and when we see that we will be running late, immediately call our customers and advise them. We have never "failed to show" in the sense that customers always are advised of delays before the end of the appointment window we made with them. We believe member's comments are unfounded in this case since alternative scheduling was made at his request.

It worked out very well. The 2 people that came out did very well. They were effective, courteous, and the job was well done. They were slightly late but they called and told me they were gonna be late.
