Excellent service! I called and explained that we had replaced a bad GFCI outlet in the bathroom but it still wasn't working. They determined that it had probably just be wired wrong and would try to get out as soon as possible. They called back a few minutes later and said they could come that afternoon! I really appreciated the speedy service especially for such a tiny job. They were right, the previous outlet was installed backwards and they corrected it. I will definitely consider them again for many other projects I have!

They arrived promptly and were seemed competent and were very helpful in explaining their finding. The one downside is that it has taken them a long time to get back to me with an estimate to fix the issues they have found.

Honestly, Mike's Electric is THE most professional company I have worked with in 20 years as a realtor. From the very first phone call to the final inspection, this project was flawless. Every single person at Mike's is polite, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient at their job. I will use them again and again, and will recommend them to anyone needing electrical work. They're absolutely the best!

Phenomenal, Brad and Rob were right on time. work was preformed like a military operation, no figuring thinks out on the fly, no back a forth through the house. Each task was started and finished before the next one was started. No mess, cleaned the areas of work as they went. Than when the work was finished Brad walked me through the work that was done and answered any questions I had.

It was awesome! The two electricians (journeyman and apprentice) arrived on time. They quickly evaluated the problem in our 1928 home. It was circuit overload with repeated tripped breakers when running our AC unit. They found a way to run a new circuit using existing conduit. They were courteous, efficient, and tidy. They explained the problem, found a good plan, and installed the circuit in less than an hour. They explained the changes to our electrical panel and clearly labeled all of our circuits. They were very professional.

Excellent! They had to fix the work of a handyman who previously incorrectly installed fire alarm. They are neat and clean up after themselves. I highly recommend them!

Excellent. I have used Mike's Electric several times and am always impressed. The crew arrived on time (even a little early) and went right to work. They brought service up to code (GFI installed) and ran a new 4-wire power cable from the garage to the kitchen. Installed a new receptacle for out new electric range. They were skilled, efficient, and finished up in a timely manner for a very difficult job (working in attic and crawl space).

They worked quickly to save us money. One apprentice and one journeyman, worked together well, listened to my feedback and ideas. Managed to find wires for easy hookup without needing a new breaker (which would have been a larger project). We were very happy with the results. The outlet plate was almost square with wall; I'm a perfectionist, so if I became an electrician, I might use a speed square or something to ensure my plates were always perfectly level/square with surroundings. But another way to look at this is that he didn't waste my time and money on squaring up the outlet panel (thanks!). Good guys, good work. Will probably hire them again. This company came recommended by a friend of mine who uses them in his contractor work. He's a really hard working and smart guy so it wasn't a surprise that Mike's Electric performed well.

The workers were very pleasant and when I received the bill, I called for an adjustment of the charge to match their current offer for whole house electrical inspection rather than the minimum call-out fee that I was charged. They agreed to this arrangement and asked that I be sure to leave a review. So, here it is.
Description of Work: I called for installation of new grounding due to re-piping house water supply. Electricians found that I did, in fact, already have updated grounds, so no additional work was needed. They did place informational tape on the top of the grounding poles so they are easier to locate.

The apprentice was great. He got right to work on the kitchen outlets, cutting the drywall away, and doing the wiring. He also got the outlet installed in the floor of our living room without any problems, although I had to run to Home Depot to buy the outlet for the floor since they didn't have one for wood floors. The electrician seemed to have a lot of trouble figuring out how to do deal with the removal of the disposal switch. There wasn't a lot of room to work with as we were having a window put in. After spending a lot of time complaining and debating, he ended up adding some sort of junction box on the outside of the house to deal with it. The electrician did the cutting of drywall and wiring for the outdoor light fixture and switch. For some reason the first hole he made for the switch wasn't right so he made a second hole. (My husband did the actual installation of the new light fixture.) The above work took a full day for the two workers. They left it unfinished for the electrical inspection which occurred the next day. The electrician and a different apprentice returned a couple days later. Again the electrician did the complaining and debating routine when there wasn't enough room for one of the outlet boxes. He finally sent me to Home Depot to get a narrower one, which still didn't fit. I finally told him to just recut the hole to make it work. He was having trouble with one of the other outlets as well. Not enough room. So I had him install it sideways, like the others in that part of the kitchen. I feel like the electrician spent an awful lot of time complaining that things wouldn't work. I really don't feel like his time was well spent. The office staff were very nice and responsive. I was charged $178 for materials. It would have been nice to get a breakdown for that charge. I hope they didn't charge me for the two items I had to go out and purchase myself. The quoted price was $1500 for one day's work. I was charged that plus $500 for the additional work on the second day.
Description of Work: The electrician and his apprentice added some electrical outlets and a switch for one of the outlets in our kitchen. They removed a switch for the disposal that we no longer needed. They moved an outdoor light fixture and its switch a few inches to make room for a wider door. And the apprentice added a floor outlet in our living room.

Mike's is a first-class outfit through and through. All of their people are super nice and professional. They were at my home when they said they'd be each of the three times I had them come out (two bids and one job) and they did a quality job, including cleaning up. I will definitely hire this company again should I have any further electrical needs and I highly recommend them to the Angie's List community.

The two electricians showed up at the beginning of the two-hour window given by the scheduler. Both assessed the orders, asked a few questions, and immediately set to work. Their behavior was very professional. They worked quickly and efficiently. I had a problem with the ceiling fan fixture I had purchased. Some necessary parts were missing. The electrician clearly identified the missing parts, which I was able to run out and replace while he put in two other ceiling fixtures. I was extremely pleased with their work and the results have been most admired. I would recommend Mike's and would not hesitate to hire them again. Great experience,

A pair of electricians showed up within the specified window by Mike's Electric. They immediately set to work on the list of things laid out by the inspection (previously reviewed by Darryl and Myself via correspondence). The pair moved through the list surprisingly quickly and were able to isolate a wiring issue that I was able to find, but not diagnose myself. They did so incredibly quickly! I was very impressed with the work and professionalism with the team. They've won a new customer here!

While I was unable to duplicate problem in master bath with having the lights on over shower stall and the overhead lights not coming on when switched on, one light switch was swapped out as the plastic housing was broken which may or may not have led to our light switch issues in master bath. I will continue to track this issue and if it reoccurs, will have Mike's Electric back out to diagnose issue. Sunroom ceiling fan issue with fan working and lights not coming on was isolated to control switch being faulty. I have ordered a replacement off the Internet. All in all, it was a successful visit. i was however surprised by the invoice of $142 for one hour's of onsite work. Two electricians came out on this call - I have no issue with this other than one technician would have been sufficient. I can see paying $75 - $95 per hour for such work but $142 for one hour's of troubleshooting seems steep to me.
Description of Work: Troubleshoot light switch malfunction in master bath; unable to duplicate issue however one switch was replaced because housing was broken. Troubleshooting Casablanca fan issue in sunroom; fan works but light do not come on. Reversed wires and lights came and fan would not work. Isolated problem to control switch.

Thank you for your comments and your past business. The apprentice you referenced in your review was assigned to that particular journeyman electrician for other work assigned that day. You were billed only for the journeyman, at our minimum labor rate. We do periodically compare our labor rates to other highly rated electricians on Angie's List in ensure we continue to be competitive with their rates.

My gas water heater died and it was cheaper to install a new electric water heater due to updated codes. Mike's Electric was the only company that was able to fit me in the same week (the next day, in fact) and they came out to install a new circuit. The workers were punctual and professional. Thank you for your review and for your business. We're not always able to be so prompt given our heavy workload, but frequently we are able to work a customer in sooner, if they have a relatively flexible schedule. We also try to give priority to those customers with life's little annoyances - no hot water, no lights, no heat, etc.

The team arrived to appointments on schedule, they were friendly, professional and nice. They provided quality work. Unfortunately the estimate was completely wrong. The estimate that I first received was $610. The estimator tested my current system and gave me a price. I had to change the heat pump that I already selected because the Mikes rep told me that the system I wanted to install would not be supported by my electrical system. The morning of the installation with the heating / cooling team began the install with the heat pump. The Mike's team arrived. I was immediately told my electrical system wouldn't work with the heat pump and it would now cost $1100-1300. I have a problem with trying to readjust my budget to cover double what I was told when I have already committed to the install date with the other vendor; heating / cooling team and the work had already started. If the install team could diagnose this deficiency so easily, I am troubled why the estimate was so far off base. I am suspicious when I feel pressure to make the decision to move forward and I don't have the opportunity to get additional bids. I am also suspicious that I could have gone with my first selection on the heat pump that came with a better rebate and would have saved me money. Really not cool all around. The service reps that did the work were great. Unfortunately I am troubled by my experience with Mikes. I would recommend them with great caution.

We appreciate member's comments and her business. What we found on arrival, and the beginning of the work, was that an improper circuit breaker was installed by others (not matching the wiring) on the circuit we were planning to extend and use for her heat pump installation. We discovered this almost immediately, provided customer a new estimate while we were there, which she accepted. We completed work and invoiced her $200 LESS than our second estimate which she had approved. Further, the wiring she had originally in place would not have supported either size of heat pump that she had been considering. Sadly, this whole circumstance could have been avoided, if whoever had worked on that circuit previously had installed the correctly sized circuit breaker. We would have known at that point that we would have had to rerun the entire circuit, rather than just extending it and would have estimated accordingly.

Called to come early. Arrived shortly thereafter. Scoped the work. Returned to truck to obtain required electrical parts and tools. Returned to house and installed new ceiling light fixture and replaced failed wall switch. Checked for proper operation. Proceeded to garage and repaired loose electrical connections in ceiling mounted fluorescent light fixture. Checked for proper operation. Electrician was totally professional and workmanship was flawless. We have used Mike's Electric for several years. This company may have professional peers, but we strongly believe no company can do it any better or faster on a consistent basis. We highly recommend Mike's Electric for whatever residential electrical work you may need.

Aaron found the connection between the breaker and the panel bus had been arcing. He replaced the breaker, and cleaned up the bus and tested to confirm proper operation. He then heard a loud buzzing noise coming from the sub-main breaker when the heat pump kicked on. The connection between the sub breaker and panel bus had been arcing. Aaron cleaned up the bus and resdistributed the load from the water heater and heat pump to reduce the load on the sub main. We have had no intermittent power outages since the work was done. Aaron is clearly a competent electrician and worked efficiently to solve the problem.

We requested estimates from 3 companies including Mike's Electric for the following work. 1. Add receptacle under kitchen sink for newly installed water filter. 2. Add electrical receptacle in hallway. There is an existing outlet on opposite side of wall. Mike's Electric provided rough estimate ranges for each requested outlet (1. $277-$337, 2. $100-$150). RK Electric gave a verbal estimate of $500-$900 for both. Falcon Electric responded "In order to give you an accurate estimate for this type of work, I'd have to see it." That was after indicating he had no availability for about 6 weeks. We had Mike's Electric do work for us once before and were very pleased, so we were comfortable with choosing them this time, too. It didn't hurt that they provided an estimate over the phone when requested. And that estimate looked better than the other one we had. They were able to schedule our work for 5 days later for a 12:00-2:00pm arrival time frame. On the day of service, Aaron, the electrician assigned to our job, called at around 11:00am. He was ahead of schedule and asked if it would be okay if he arrived early, in about 15 minutes. We were very happy to get the work started earlier, so we said okay. After arriving, he discussed with us the requested work. He suggested a solution for the under-sink outlet that actually resulted in getting the job done in less time than we were expecting. He was courteous and professional at all times. He was careful to make sure everything was cleaned up when he was done. We are very pleased with the quality of work. And the actual invoiced amount was $357.00, which is less than the original estimate. I would definitely recommend Mike's Electric if you need electrical work done.

Two men showed up on time and reviewed what I wanted. It turned out that snaking wiring from breakfast nook to family room was not feasible. They did find an alternative by going from Ceiling fan to where I wanted new outlet. Fan was 10-12 feet on vaulted ceiling. After removing ceiling fan, they tried to snake wiring down but kept hanging up. It took many tries and using diffident techniques but they finally got the wires to go through. The final result was just what I wanted. I have used Mike's before and while they may not always be the cheapest, their work is always top notch.

Two technicians came to our home for the inspection. I advised them that we had experienced a smell of smoke the previous week that we thought was coming from our garage. We had the fire department come to our home who was unable to find a source. I had determined that it was likely the outlet that had gone out earlier that week. Mike's technician in repairing the outlet was puzzled that there was no hint of smoke so on his own began an in depth inspection throughout garage and on a second look of examining an old motor and connections to our garage opener that had gone out 7-8 months earlier, got on a four foot ladder on top of our workbench and discovered burnt wiring and extensive ashes on top of the garage door motor mechanism and commented that it was a miracle that the burnt wiring had not flamed up and started a house fire in the inside and eves of our garage and roof. Besides being very grateful I was very impressed at the thoroughness of their inspection throughout the house in light of what was a modest fee engagement. Mike's Electric will have all my electrical need business and I have already referred them to a friend who owns rental properties in Beaverton and Portland. Greg S.
