Great experience. Matthew was very knowledgeable and offered suggestions on which trees to remove. We received an estimate the very next day via email and scheduled the work to be done. Matthew arrived on time and was very professional. We were very impressed with his follow-up note.

Matthew came out promptly when contacted via e-mail and provided an estimate within two days. Once we accepted his bid we were able to schedule two weeks later. Matthew and his crew arrived on time, did the work without harming the trees (did not use spikes), and hauled all debris away. We want to establish a routine of keeping our trees healthy and will definitely call on Matthew again.

This was one of the best experiences I have had with any contractor working on our home - the first with a tree pruning company though. Matt came out and I found him extremely knowlegable about the flora in our yard. He mentioned that he had done some work for a neighbor on our street and I check with her later (she was happy with the work that he had done for them a year before). His quote was very competitive with the rest that I got. I found the entire interaction - from the setting up of the appointment to final work completion - to be extremely pleasant and satisfying. Its been almost 3 months since the work was done and I continue to be happy with the work done. I liked the fact that Matt gave me some very good ideas on what I could do to open up the vegetation around our home. We had a pine tree which he recommended getting rid of. It was not horribly large but it occluded the view considerably and reduced light coming to the lower floor of our home. From his walk-through for the quote I really liked the fact that he seemed to be thinking about the impact of the work and not just what I was telling him (remove this, prune that... I am not a landscaping/tree expert by any means!). He suggested the pine tree removal instead of my suggestion to thin it out (or prune). On the day of the job I realized that there was another tree that would be best removed. He took that on with a smile despite it being the end of the day. I intend to have them come out again to get some more tree trimming done next season.

I was impressed with Matthew's depth of knowledge and reasoned recommendations when he did the bid. The crew arrived at about 12:30 (Matthew had said "around noon," so I guess that was on time, although of course I was ready for them at noon exactly), and after eating their lunches, got to work at about 1:00. Once in the trees, work progressed quickly, with one man in each tree and another chipping up branches. They were completely finished by 2:30, even after spending half an hour cleaning up sticks and sweeping up. I especially appreciated that they managed to avoid squashing the tiny daffodil shoots emerging under the maple tree. I pointed those out to them at the beginning, so they used my garbage cans to provide support for falling branches. That was very nice. After all the work was done, the trees look great and will add value to the property. The price seemed very reasonable too.

They showed up exactly on time and proceeded to complete the job very quickly. The project required the use of my neighbor's driveway for debris removal. I called him to ask if he could move his car and he asked the Matthews men if they would give him a quote on removing two of his trees (to the ground). They gave him a price he liked and they completed his project in that same afternoon. Two very happy customers, indeed.

We were extremely pleased with the service received by Matthew and Anna Allen. They did all the coordination with Chip-Away Stump Grinding (who also did a fanstastic job). They arrived when they said they would. They worked skillfully around existing vegetation, hardscape landscaping, a hot tub, and exterior lighting without causing any damage to surrounding areas. They cleaned up well, and were very cognizant of providing outstanding service. We obtained several price quotes, and theirs was by far the most reasonable of all. We would definitely recommend them to anyone wishing to have tree services, and would use them again.

They trimmed the trees and also took down the limbs of very tall trees. They did so for safety reasons and also for the tree to look nice. I liked them a lot. They were very friendly and they were punctual too. They also worked very hard. I wouldn?t be able to comment on the price, as I never compared it with any other company, but I felt that it was fair. I will use their services in the future as well.

Matthews Tree Company came out within a few days after my initial phone call to provide an estimate. Matthew did the estimate himself. He looked at the tree from the driveway (below the tree) and also went up around the back of the tree to view it from another angle. He provided an estimte and said he'd be about 2 weeks out to book the job. I asked who would do the actual work, as I've had crews do jobs before without supervision from the estimator and the job sometimes does not go well. He said if it would make me more comfortable he'd be on site the whole time. Our driveway contractors had said the tree could be removed before, during or after the driveway job, but then changed their mind and said they really wanted the tree out before they finished the driveway. They really wanted the tree out ASAP. Matthew's original estimate was not the lowest we'd gotten. Estimates ranged from $1,200 to $2,500. There was one other company we felt confident in who provided an estimate several hunred dollars below Matthew's. Both companies were 2 weeks out. We told Matthew and the other guy that we needed the tree out ASAP, and asked if they could move up their work dates. Matthew was able to fit us in on a cancellation date, and said he'd drop his price below that of the other lower bidder. In the end, Matthew had truck problems and was unable to come on the day he'd planned, but was able to be here 3 days later. He and two crew removed the tree without use of a crane, which was helpful given the road blockage and problems with the driveway that a crane could have caused. Matthew did most of the cutting himself, climbing the tree with a chain saw. I left and when I returned about 5 hours later, the whole tree was gone. It was really a massive tree, overhanging our steep driveway, the entire front of the house, and the neighbors property. The canopy was huge. Matthew left the stump cut straight so I could put a pot on top of it, as I had asked. He piled up the bigger chunks of the tree for the driveway crew to take home. The small branches were all chipped. The only part I didn't feel great about is that they'd left sawdust and debris on the neighbor's side, but when I pointed that out to Matthew he offered to clean it up and also helped me clean out the street. It was a messy job. Matthew was responsive and available, and flexible with his pricing. He did a great job, and he was here on time and stayed through the project, as he'd agreed to. His crew were pleasant. He is a cordial guy. He even sent a hand written thank you note after the job, and that is something very rare these days. I would definitely use Matthew again and would not hesitate to recommend him.

We called to have someone come out and look at a giant Douglas Fir that lost a lot of branches during a recent wind storm. Matt came out two days later to look at it. He found nothing wrong with the tree; his only suggestion was to prune it to remove dead branches before they could fall. He also looked at various fruit trees and gave us pruning tips and other advice. We ended up not needing any work performed, but Matt was very knowledgeable and didn't pressure us to have unnecessary services done. We will definitely go with this company for any future tree services.

We have a few large trees in our yard close to the house, and things were falling down on the house. I wanted to make sure the trees were healthy, so I employed him to do the job. I will use him again if needed.

Matt came out to quote removing two trees and also to provide an arborist report (he is a certified arborist) on one of the trees which was in danger of falling on my or my neighbor's house. I needed an arborist report in order to get a permit from the city to remove the tree. After contracting with Matt, he provided the arborist report and I went through the permitting process. We scheduled a time to take the first tree out but had to wait on the permitting process to take the second out. Matt was flexible about doing one, then coming out again to do the other, but sticking to the original quote. The work was performed efficiently and Matt listened to my input. Everything went as per our discussions with no surprises. I appreciated his willingness to cut the trunk into pieces. The job site was left in good order.

I emailed a query and received a response the next day. We made arrangements to meet on the following day and Matt showed up right on time (actually five minutes early). He asked me what I wanted done to our tree and suggested a little extra trimming to thin out the branches. We agreed on a price (with an additional discount for our Angie's List connection) and made an appointment to perform the work. The arborists showed up right on time and performed the work in an expert and timely manner. They climbed, cut and trimmed exactly as we had requested. We are extremely happy with the results.

They were pleasant to work with. They got the job done in a timely manner. The job was a little a tough but they did a great job. They also sent us a thank you note after the job was all finished. I would highly recommend them.

Matthew got the job done very quickly and professionally. He seemed extremely knowledgeable about the trees and their diseases. He was also very personable as well. He really went above and beyond what I had asked of him.

They were very professional and came right out to give me an estimate. The tree they removed was about 50 feet and they did a great job. I would highly recommend them to everyone. I referred them to my friends who were having tree problems.

The only disappointing part was the Angie's discount I was promised. Original quote was for $560 less 15% for Angies list, which would be $476. When I called to schedule this part and wanted to confirm the price, I was told that they couldn't offer the discount anymore, they had gotten to be a bigger company and with fuel costs up, they wouldn't do the discount anymore. I expressed my concern and I offered to split the difference, which they agreed to. It was still a fair price, but it would have been much better if they had stuck to the original price. I would use them again.

I wanted a certified arborist to look at my very old, very large Oregon Big leaf Maple. Matt came right out for an estimate and I was impressed with his knowledge and confidence. When he encountered schedule conflict on the day we arranged for him to do the work, he called with enough time for me to accommodate the change to the following day (I'm easy - others might have been put out by this). The crew did a good job of thinning out the tree, including a huge trunk/branch that was reaching over the neighbor's fence, and they installed sway-bracing to minimize wind risk to the old tree. They cleaned up very well, however they did trample several of our flower beds but the removal of such a large branch directly overhead without damaging the fence made it a small thing. Besides, the flowers were done for the season.

It was very very satisfactory. Their initial contact and assessment process was among the most professional and appropriate that I've had with contractors. Their crew was polite and I enjoyed how the experienced people were teaching the inexperienced people. The crew accidentally forgot a few extra branches that had fallen into my neighbors yard, and when I called to let them know they were very responsive. They went over and talked to the neighbors and took care of everything. I will definitely use them again.

The team arrived on the appointed day on time and did the work, asked for my opinion on things as they proceeded, and cleaned up after themselves! They were friendly, courteous and appeared to enjoy the work. It was nice to have a team do it so everything was done in less than one day.

Very prompt service, from the estimate to the completion of the job. Very courteous and professional. We had four separate projects, they quoted each one separately. We only had two of them done now and will contact them when we are ready for the other two projects. We will definitely use them again. Received Angie's List 15% discount, which definitely helped us make our decision between this company and another quote we received, which was much higher.
