Description of Work: I can't believe the amount of light I have in the rooms with the Solar Tubes! Originally, I had three put in but they were so effective, reasonably priced and the guys didn't take long that I put in two more. The guys were great at suggesting where they should be placed but sensitive to my thoughts too. Outstanding service! Can't say enough good about the install and product!

+ -1 moreThis was the second time I hired Light Benders to install solar tubes in my home. Both times we were very happy with both their service and their products. Originally, they installed a solar tube in an inner bathroom with no windows. It let in so much light that visitors keep trying to turn off the light switch. I hired Light Benders to come back a year later to install another, larger solar tube in my dark entry way. This one has a lovely prism diffuser. At their office we noticed they also have solar powered attic fans, so we decided to have one installed as well. Their office is staffed by friendly, helpful, knowledgeable people who worked with me to expedite an installation date that worked with my schedule. The installers were efficient and personable. They clearly knew their stuff and left everything tidy and clean. During the installation process I was chatting idly about the next places I would want solar tubes installed. Their installer suggested a location that had not occurred to me, at the top of dark stairs into my basement. It was a brilliant idea. They were able to install that one as well, all in the same day. At the time I had a little sticker shock, but have been so happy with the results that it was well worth the price. Now I'm saving up for the next time I will hire them!

+ -1 moreSurprisingly went very quickly. Took only about an hour to install. They were punctual and very courteous. We had the initial tube installed in the dining area, then decided we had to install a second 10" tube in our windowless main bathroom. Just love having the natural light in the bathroom! Was installed two weeks ago and I still have a tendency to want to hit the light switch when I walk by!

+ -1 moreMy experience with Light Benders-Solatube went very well. They came out about two or three weeks ago, no longer than three. They were very professional, they did a good job. It was at the price quoted. I felt comfortable with them in the house, there was no problem at all.

Description of Work: I was in need of additional light in the main bathroom and hall area of my house. I had heard about solar tubes and called light benders to get an estimate. When I got the explanation of the work and the price I was surprised, pleased and accepted bid for the job. Two solar tubes were installed, one in the hall and one in the main bathroom. All of the work and clean up was completed in less than an hour! I'm totally and completely satisfied!

+ 0 moreThis is written years after the fact, since the last Solatube install (3 of the 4) was in 2009. The worst of the project was clearing out the access to the attic. I was VERY nervous with the first tube. They were going to cut a hole in the roof. Would I like it? Who knew? By the second install I was fine. For both, the install took almost no time, which was amazing to me. I remember the installers being very on time and being careful to verify with me EXACTLY where I wanted the inside hole (in the ceiling) to be. Solatubes commonly bend, so the inside and the outside aren't very related to each other -- lots of flexibility. Everything was cleaned up quickly afterwards, and my family and I got to just be VERY happy with all the light. Rooms are NOT hotter in summer or colder in winter as a result of the change. I may be wrong, but I think the first tube, not having anything extra to be done, took far less than an hour to finish. I recommend visiting the website, reading EVERYTHING on the site, then going to the showroom to play with lenses, etc, and see what YOU think about daylighting. My bill would have been smaller without changes in lenses and without electric applications. I paid to get the look I liked. Solatubes can be great replacements for light fixtures, not just an alternative to skylights. Years later, I'd do it all again, and maybe someday, do some more.
Description of Work: I apologize for not thinking to make a report of the service from Sola-Tube back when it was done. There were two dates involved ...and I still think about adding more sola-tubes. My late 70's built home had a windowless bathroom at the top of the stairs. I started out with Sola-Tube by having a 14inch diameter Solatube in the bathroom-of-eternal-night, plus an OptiView diffuser (Fresnel lens), and the bathroom became wonderfully bright, with even some occasional rainbows. That took about 1/2 hour. Date was 4/9/2008. Total cost for that was $744, including the additional for the choice of lens and the extra tubing needed (outside application is near the peak of the roof. In 6/6/2009, the recessed light fixture at the top of the stairs, just infront of the bathroom door, was also changed to another 14 inch diameter Solatube, this time with light bulb ability for use at night. I have compact fluorescent going on now and will likely make it LED in the future. There is such wonderful light by day that sometimes I have to check to make sure the switch is off. This used to be a darker area of the house. That was $892 (including the electric connection). While I was at it, I had the very inadequate light and fan unit in the master bath replaced with the Ventilation Add-on, for a sleek 10 inch diameter tube and integral fan. The fan was far quieter and more powerful than what I previously had. AND I put in a 10 inch Solatube with light bulb in my closet. $1012 for the bathroom light and fan and electric and changing out the venting. $681 for the closet (again there was electrical involved). I still ponder adding 2 10 inch tubes to the master bedroom with lights and baffles (in case there's a day sleeper ever). Solatubes are addictive -- such wonderful light by day, and very useful lighting by night if you want to add the electric option to make it a light fixture, too.

+ -1 moreI had looked up the product on line and the company so I was a little familiar with them they looked at the place where I wanted the tube installed and explained the process they said it would only take 45 min and they had the tubes on the truck so I agreed to them installing it at that time they covered the floor in the bathroom with a tarp one person went on the roof to cut the hole the other marked the place below it all went very smoothly and quick the following weekend I checked the work on the roof it was all sealed well two weeks later they called to see if I was pleased with the job and if I had any questions
