General Contractor, owner operated company based out of Aloha, Oregon. Specializing in residential and commercial construction. I've been in the business for 18 years. I use sub contractors depending on the job and I don't charge a trip charge. I will treat your home or business like my own.
They scheduled me in a very timely manner. The cost was a bit high for the work performed. It took some time for him to complete the project as there was some confusion about the details for the job (painting the new trim piece) and there was some caulking that needed to be touched up. But the job was eventually completed and it looks good.

He did a fantastic job at a far better price than his competitors. Not only that but he went above and beyond, by using materials I already had and helping me return concrete blocks leftover from a different job at no extra charge. He will be my first call for any future needs.

I needed a contractor to do a small amount of work on my house prior to its sale. I was on an extreme time crunch and Chris met this deadline. He was on time, stayed in contact and was very knowledgeable. He completed the work quickly and did a great job. He is very upfront and fair. I would recommend him and use him in the future. Thank you so much!

Chris and his helper showed up on time. Chris knew exactly what needed to be done as far as attaching wooden blocks above the ceiling over the bedroom. They went right to work and finished the job in a very timely manner. They then reinstalled the support pole and secured it to the blocks above the ceiling. Chris also inspected the damaged ceiling in our living room and said that he did not do the type of drywall and plaster repair that would be needed for but gave us the name of a contractor who could get that job done for us. We were very impressed with Chris's professionalism and the prompt manner in which he got this job done. We felt his charge was extremely reasonable. We will definitely use him again and would highly recommend him to anyone else needing home repairs.
Description of Work: We needed to have someone go up in our attic and secure wooden blocks to the support joists above our bedroom ceiling so that a support pole for a disabled person could be securely attached to the ceiling below. A week prior, a family member had tried to do this unsuccessfully and in the process had actually put his foot through our living room ceiling, so we actually also had a damaged ceiling that also needed to be repaired.

Chris met with me at a rental property to give us a bid on work that another contractor had determined would cost over $1000.00 . When I met with Chris, I wanted to get an idea of what a bathroom 'refresh' would cost (since the repair would mean ripping out a tile shower, so the why not upgrade the entire bathroom while we were at it?). Chris spent about 30 minutes evaluating the situation and determined that the initial repair was much less extensive than the first contractor had determined, and recommended a plumber to me or the job. This meant that he would not be upgrading the bathroom, and was passing work onto someone else. I felt Chris was incredibly honest, and he earned my trust on the spot. He also was on time, and extremely courteous to a rather picky tenant. He is someone I won't hesitate to call again or recommend to others. Thanks Chris!

Existing house had a very small uncovered concrete patio, with doorway into garage, and the HVAC unit took up big part of patio. Doorway, with no protective roof, had rotted framing. We desired a much larger covered space to use in all weather. We staked out the space we wanted, made a few sketches, did some research on costs, then called a few contractors from Angie's List who had done work in our area. We interviewed three. One did not understand the project, another had a price estimate way out of range plus unacceptable contract terms. Chris Jacobson, of Jacobson Construction, had appropriate experience, understood what we wanted, and provided good suggestions for our concept. The initial price estimate was right where we expected. Contract terms were reasonable. The first good sign was that Chris brought in an engineer to finalize the cost estimate. This gave us confidence that Chris was a pro who wanted no surprises, as he understood right up front that the project would require an engineered design to get building permits. The engineer finished the design details, and we waited a few weeks for the building permits. From then on the work went smoothly, though we were glad to finally see the concrete trucks arrive as the backyard was a mess for a while. We have two dogs, who were banished from the backyard during this time. The subcontractors (for concrete, roof trusses, HVAC, roofing, electrical, plumbing) that were brought onto the project were all experienced professionals. All were courteous and friendly, as were Chris's workers. Overall, a very good experience for us with Jacobson Construction. Would use them again without reservation.
Description of Work: Design and build covered patio and walkway. Roofed area: 16x20 patio, 20x7 walkway. Additional poured walkways (approx. 110' in length) on south side of house, extending from patio area. Integrate roof design (roof pitches, eaves, gutters, and roofing shingles) into existing roof configuration to look like existing house. Permits and inspections as required. Demolition and removal of existing structures. Upgrade existing house roof structures, as required by engineer. Wrap all beams and posts with cedar planking. Finish underside (ceiling) of patio and walkway cover with cedar T&G, varnished. Install can lights in patio area, with dimmer controls. Can lights in walkway area. Replace door from patio into garage. Relocate sprinklers. Relocate HVAC unit. Relocate dryer vent. Paint posts, beams, eaves and gutters to match house. Yard work as required to return site to original, plus additional yard work as requested.

Chris came over on the same day that I called, even though he was also very busy. He was professional and was able to figure out the problem on the spot - toilet wasn't secured properly causing the water to run down along the outside of the pipe. To my surprise, he refused to take my money in the end, saying that it was just a small job. It may be a small job for him, but certainly made my day to know that we didn't have to do major surgery on the house. Thanks Chris! We will definitely hire you for a bigger job next time and recommend you to everyone we know.
Description of Work: We had an upstairs toilet leak that shows up downstairs. So we were assuming the worst. Called around a few others on Angie's list but they were all too busy to come by or think the job is too small.

I was not happy with this Big Deal ($149 for Handyman for the Day). Chris showed up prompt like he said he would. He and his partner, Kevin, both went to work. Chris ended up putting up a few shelves, but they did not look professional or clean cut. He did not put the shelves up in the manner that we agreed upon. He used nails and screws, instead of all screws. There were other tools that they did not bring to do the jobs correctly. Chris seems to be slow at putting in the shelves. The time was up for the Big Deal and I offered to pay for the additional work, but Chris walked out on the project. Kevin did finish up the work that he was performing in our kitchen and bathroom and stayed an extra half hour. I was not happy with the way things ended and was offended by the way Chris spoke to me. I was told that I would receive a refund for this, but have yet to receive it. Chris did not even get to work until 45 minutes into being there. I watched him eat his breakfast out the window! It took him 2 hours to put up 5 (mostly) precut shelves. In the next hour, he finished 3 shelves. Only 8 of 13 shelves I asked to be put in were installed. I offered to pay for the additional time it took to finish the job, but they chose to walk out instead. He claimed to have 20 years of experience, but I don't believe that that is true.
Description of Work: I wanted them to install some shelves and do a few other things around the house.

Very well. He removed all the damaged wood and moved it to a specified location. He took me to Home Depot to purchase enough wood to replace the wood removed because his trailer was long enough to accommodated the 16 ft 2X6 boards. He replaced the removed decking appropriately. Mr Jacobson worked very efficiently and was a pleased to work with.

Chris did absolutely fantastic work in every way. When I contacted him by either phone or email, he responded promptly. He was punctual on appointments. The quality of his work was excellent. The price for his work was very good. In the future, when I need work done around my house, I will contact Chris.
Description of Work: When my deck was put in a couple of years ago, by another contractor, the deck skirting blocked access to my drier vent, so that when I needed to clean the dryer vent I was not able to access the vent from under the deck. Chris modified the deck skirting to provide an entryway. He also cleaned the dryer vent for me.

From first contact, he was courteous and responsive. He works with busy schedules etc by being flexible (phone, text, email, whatever suits the customer/situation). He clearly knows his trade and is conscientious about getting the work done right. Also reasonably priced for the work he does. Very nice person and just gets it done with no fuss.
Description of Work: I found Chris Jacobson through an Angie's List Big Deal to be "handyman for a day". He did the random items I had listed for him, and we were so happy with his work, professionalism, attention to detail, and responsiveness, that we had him come back and do some more work (all is summarized together below including more than one visit, and the cost above is based on my recollection and is approximate for the total). And more work will be planned for the spring as well. He fixed a broken step, set up some kitchen cabinets, spackled some unfinished duct work we had in the kitchen, and most importantly, he made us a door under our front outdoor steps (we live in a walk-up townhome) so that we could put the garbage bins out of sight under the stairs instead of leaving them out in front of the house all week. The door was done perfectly, and looks really nice. It is latticed wood and he matched the paints so nicely, it looks now like it was always there.

Chris called me the day I bought the Big Deal, asking what services I was planning on. He showed up early on the work day. He was professional in every aspect. He offered some ideas on how to improve my request (puppy had destroyed a wall, he recommended I also repair the door trim that was also chewed on). He worked beyond the six hours, for another 3/4 hour, and did not ask for additional compensation. He worked continuously - I never saw him take a break. He left the house clean and tidy.
Description of Work: Chris repaired a big hole in a wall, as well as patching several other walls with lots of scratches. He also repaired three door jams that had been extensively chewed on. He repaired some damage to a stair banister. He changed out a thermostat to a programmable thermostat.
Chris is great to work with. He worked for a few weeks with my schedule and we agreed on a date in late September to do the work. He arrived exactly on time and we reviewed the project. He suggested lower cost approaches which saved time and money. He worked up a materials list and I went to Home Depot while he got started on the job. Upon my return, he loaded the materials from my truck to the job site and worked essentially throughout the day. In the course of the project he noticed some additional work was needed and since I had the materials to cover it, he went ahead and completed the additional work. Plus I asked him to do some light fixture work and he agreed. At the end of the day he obviously went over the agreed upon and paid six hours of work, so I was expecting an additional invoice. To my surprise he said it wasn't that much of an overage past the six hours paid and not to worry about it. Throughout the project Chris stayed focused and paid attention to detail. He had all the tools he needed in his support van, and that helped also in terms of time and money. I would not hesitate to recommend Chris on any of your remodeling projects.
Description of Work: Remodeled outside storage unit due to age, corrosion, rot, and appearance. Cleaned and replaced roof. Had to remove some parts of the foundation and replaced foundation timber with pressure treated lumber. Removed siding/trim and reinstalled new siding/trim. Repaired Storage doors and installed new hardware. Replaced light fixture.
