Farmington Gardens

We strolled around first, taking in all of the beauty in all of their nursery items. Kind of like a walk in a park! After we saw all that they have to offer, we decided to head to the items that we were looking for. We sure could have spent much more time, and money :), there. They really know their "stuff" and are happy to help out with questions or suggestions. Can't wait for our next trip out!

They have a huge selection. I think the price is right. They are helpful, just don't go on the weekends when every Tom, Dick, and Harry is there, they are too busy. If you go during the week, they will bend over backwards to help you find something. They are also good for advice if you are wondering if something is good for this area or is disease resistant.

Our experience was fabulous! Lauren introduced us to a tree...A Stewartia (psuedo camilla) that we fell in love with. We needed a dogwood to plant where we had taken out a diseased vine maple and we needed to wait a number of weeks for the dogwood shipment to come in. On our first visit, we had the Stewartia and 4 shrubs set aside. These were held until the dogwood shipment came in. I called periodically and talked with Tony who was making all of this timing possible. The dogwoods arrived and my husband and I went to Farmington to choose the tree we wanted and pay for everything at one time. We chose a Korean Dogwood and were in the process of paying for everything when Tony discovered the Stewartia tree we had chosen was no where to be found. He had others on the floor in the viewing area and we chose one but he knew we did not love the tree as much as we had our original choice. He offerred to go out into the back of the field where they had more Stewartias and choose what he thought was THE BEST tree...it was very rainy and muddy so he felt that we should not go to the field...also my husband was having health issues at the time so his balance was not great. We took Tony up on his offer and ten minutes a beautiful tree was coming to the viewing area...it is now in our back yard and we could not be happier. Cisco and Angel came to deliver and plant everything a few days later...they were marvelous! Tony, Lauren, Cisco and Angel all provided excellent expertise, service and they worked very hard to be sure we were pleased with each and every outcome. Our back yard is beautiful again thanks to the new additions from Farmington Gardens and the lovely people who work there!

The nursery has a fantastic selection of product and they are laid out so it is fairly easy to walk up to the kind of plant you want and compare them against each other. They keep good directions with each plant so the decisions you make are informed. their plants are really healthy too. I have never lost one yet and I can be kind of brown-thumbed. Their staff is highly knowledgeable and are good about educating customers. They are always really busy so it can be hard to get one of them to help you but they are great about working with people and they are always really nice. I've wandered the aisles just for a look at pretty plants without any objective. Like a tourist. They do offer landscaping services and classes but if you have a small budget, they will walk you through some basics yourself.
