We do not have the chair yet, but fully expect it to be done very well. They had many chairs in progress in the shop and the work looks great. They explained they had a backlog of about 4-months, so we are patiently waiting.
Description of Work: They are currently re-caning an antique chair that had a plywood patch for many decades.

etaOverall, a good experience. Friendly owners and great craftsmanship.
Description of Work: I had the backs of 6 dining room chairs re-caned at the Family Cane Shop. The backs of my chairs had huge holes in them (after about 30 years of use) and were in desperate need of repair. All 6 look brand new now. I thought the price was reasonable, especially compared to replacing. The angle of the backs of my chairs and the detail around the caning made adding cushions to the backs much more expensive than what I paid.

The office and reception area of the Cane Shop was delightful and fun. The owner had lots of collector figurines and bobble heads etc. that went back to when I was young myself. The man who waited on me (most likely the owner) was very pleasant and had a sense of humor. He seemed to not only be skilled, but very much enjoyed his work and took pride in it as well. I gave him a very small job, but if I do have occasion for larger ones, I will certainly try his shop again.
Description of Work: I had a good quality mahogany and marble plant stand that had suffered some abuse and two of the three legs needed to be glued. The owner of the Family Cane shop did a very nice job repairing something I could not have done myself.

It is an expensive thing to have done, but the price was within our expectations. They did a great job. The caning matched the caning of the chairs we did not have redone.
Description of Work: We had some teak furniture that needed to be recaned.

They are a home business. This is a diminishing resource and there are only very few people to do this; and do it well. It is not cheap any more. They do a nice job at a fair price. I would use them in future if I need to.
Description of Work: Family Cane Shop repaired a cane chair for me.
