The proposal/quote was concise with all the upgrades laid out clearly (grade of wood and types of hardware). Scheduling was easy and the work was done quickly over a few days. Just an easy, quality experience and exactly as described.

Daniel and his crew worked very h****** our project. Our old deck needed to be replaced at our rental home. He was able to make suggestions for changing the layout and listened to our concerns. Everything was required to be replaced and removed. In addition, we had a large arbor with attached jasmine. They did a nice job of taking care of the existing landscape. We are very happy with the finished product! Our renters were very impressed with their consistent work ethic.

The fence is on my neighbor's property, so he made all decisions on the actual construction. I paid a part of the cost to reflect the benefit I'll receive from a sturdy fence. My neighbor signed the contract. Still, Daniels gave me the Angie's List discount, so that was appreciated. The crew arrived and backed into the driveway. I showed him the site and suggested they use the neighbor's driveway, as it would provide better and closer access. Two men promply went to work and and the crew chief relocated to my neighbor's driveway. I asked the crew chief if I could have the 2x4 trims and said they could be tossed into a pile in my yard. After the fence was completed, I was initially disappointed at not seeing the pile of trims. Then I looked closer and realized the trims had been neatly placed on an existing stack of firewood. That was a thoughtful gesture. The completed fence is excellent. Good work.

The quoted price was not the lowest, but we chose Daniel's because of his professionalism, clear description of work to be performed, and prior reviews. The work started a couple days later than Daniel had estimated almost three months prior, due to other jobs running long, but the crew worked on the weekend to catch up, and finished by the committed completion date. The crew was professional and careful, and the workmanship excellent, despite some unexpected challenges with large tree roots and existing steel posts. They were also careful about vegetation and cleaned the area up well after the job. After completion, there was one existing steel post that was not well-aligned. I contacted Daniel, and his crew lead came out within a couple of days and re-set the post. I graded "B" for responsiveness because there were a couple of emails that Daniel did not answer without being reminded, but this was pretty minor and did not impact the end result. Overall he communicated well with all the neighbors involved in the job, and answered questions thoroughly. Bottom line is that we got a high quality product at a good price, and we would use Daniel's again.

Work was done in a workmanlike manner, but not per stated schedule. Workmen damaged existing sprinkler system while installing fence post. Management claimed it was not responsible for damage, and even if it was, it was not liable to pay for repair per their contract (I was told it was in the "fine print" of the contract.). They have not been out to look at the damage after two promises to investigate. So, did they do the work? YES. Did they damage the existing sprinkler line? YES Did they make any effort to even look at the damage? NO Did they refuse to correct or repair the damaged sprinkler line? NO Would I ever use them again or recommend their services? NO WAY! How could a company knowingly cause damage while doing their work and claim to not be responsible for correcting the damage. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY FENCE/GATE WORK---YOU MIGHT BE SORRY.

They were excellent. The price was very reasonable for they type of fence they built us. I'm part of the home owner's association and we have them already on a referral list on our homeowner's website as sort of someone who has used their service before and we were satisfied with it. They've done a lot of work in our neighborhood and we're very happy with them.

Daniel, the owner is great to work with. He definitely wants to make sure he provides the fence you want and asks many very good questions about the details. He also has some very good ideas of his own to contribute and is great at adapting to unexpected issues that might arise. Daniel is is a good communicator and is also willing to get in there and help his crew with installation if needed. We live on a corner lot and the fence is very visible to the neighborhood and let me tell you, it has been greatly admired by many as they pass by. We are 100% satisfied.

I needed a few sections of fence in my front yard to be replaced. I was very clear when I initially walked the job with the owner, Daniel, and described what I wanted done. It was important to me that the fence style of the replaced sections must be the same style as the original fence, so they would match. He sent me a quote that did not specifically state that about the fence style, so I contacted him to have that detail put in the quote. He asked me to send him a picture of the existing fence, which I did. He then said installing the same style would cost $300 more, because the lattice work at the top was special. This should have been identified by him when he first walked the job, of course. I agreed to the increase, and approved having the work done. The crew arrived on the agreed date. When later in the day, I checked to see how work was going, I immediately saw that the fence being built, incredibly, was not the same style as the original. And, one of the crew pointed out that an irrigation sprinkler pipe had been damaged while putting in one of the posts, and would have to be repaired. I put in a call to the owner (Daniel), he called back and said that the style built was changed based on the judgement of the crew, and the modified fence style would last longer. We argued this point, and he ultimately said that if it would make me happy he would have the crew pull the fence out and change it. But, he said, I should realize that since the crew was hired by the job, that this would essentially come out of their pocket. I was dumbfounded by this. The owner was essentially just a middleman between me and this crew, and had done a poor job of communicating what was needed for the job, at that. The fence, while of good construction quality, was just the wrong style. I was just getting tired of talking to him, so I said leave the fence as it is. Then he asked me how I wanted to handle the broken pipe. I said ?I expect you to fix it of course?. He said that he could have the crew fix it but it would cost extra. I said ?you have got to be kidding me, and I can't believe we are having this conversation?. He said no, that if I look at the fine print in the original quote, it said I was responsible to identify location of all sprinkler pipes. Yes, that language is there in the quote, in the fine print at the bottom: "You the owner or agent are responsible for cleared and staked property line. Furnish locations and character of any underground wires, pipes, sewers, conduits, obstructions which might interfere with or be damaged by Daniels Custom Fences, Decks & Construction llc and be the cause of injury and other damage." It still did not seem right to me, and after arguing about this for a while again (i.e. it was not practical for me to exactly identify where all 12-year-old pipes were in the yard), I said okay, fix it and I will pay the extra. The next day I came home to find a ditch dug in my yard around where the pipe was located. It looked like the pipe repair had started but was not finished. It stayed this way for three weeks with no contact from the owner. I finally put a call into him to ask when the repair was to be finished, he said they ran into a complication on it and didn?t have the time to do it for a while. At this point, I was furious and just wanted to be done with it. I said I would pay the invoice and I was done with them. He repeatedly said the words ?he wanted me to be happy with the work?, but his actions and lack of follow through to ensure quality work was done ultimately made me very unhappy with the engagement.

We had someone out to provide us a quote to build a fence for us. The person that came out stayed for about five minutes to ask a few questions about what we were looking for before leaving. We never heard back from the company with a quote.

We were so disappointed in this company. They gave us very high unreasonable bid for simple job and impossible to get any response from. We called Daniel's to schedule appointment to get a quote on moving our old gate and make new additional gate to install. They said he could come out in a few days and that was ok with us. Daniel showed up on time. (Thursday) He seemed professional and knowledgeable. We walked through the whole job together explaining to him what we wanted. He said he'd gave us a quote the latest the following Monday. I sent message on Angie's list on Wednesday to ask about quote but got no response. I called on Friday to ask. They said they system was down but he would get back to us soon. the lady I talked to on the phone didn't even ask for our information before hang up. (how would you know who to get back to?) And not even apology for the wait. We finally received a bid on Monday (11 days after he came to check out the project). The bid was $500 higher than any other bids we got for the same job from other fencing company. We thought it's not a big deal since they had deal on Angie's list (roughly $300 off) but we notice in small print on biding document that the Angie's list discount already applied to come up with that unreasonably high bid. We also noticed that there was additional fence section in that bid that didn't seem to belong in our project. We still determined to use them since they got such a good review on Angie's list. So we called them back the same day asking to clarification on the bid to make sure there's no miscommunication. To our surprise, we got answering machine. So we left message . No call back. So we call again next day, finally got to talk to the same lady, she said Daniel would get back to us. We waited two more days still no call back so we called again and got answering machine. We left a message asking them to call us back to clarify the details of their quote so we can move forward to start project. We still never receive any contact back from them. This's extremely disappointing. Not only that they didn't give a fair price on job but they wasted our time waiting for them.

When told that their bid would not be competitive on the Eastside of Portland, I was confused but felt they were not particularly interested in bidding our job so did not schedule an appointment for an estimate.

The service turned out fine. It did take a long time to schedule the deal. I feel like they got too booked up from offering the deal. I had them install a fence. I paid an additional fee for what I needed. The extra cost did seem pretty high. One technician came out and completed the work in about 2 days. He did a fine job, but he did not always show up on time.

Professional, quality work at reasonable price removed old fence

Worked well with us to describe our options and agree on what we wanted. Installation was very professional. Quality material. Great crew of workers. Careful with shrubs. Foreman helped with some last minute changes. Wasn't the lowest of three bids, but only a little higher and we thought Daniel would do a great job. They did do a good job, so we're very satisfied..

Daniel was a professional from the first contact until after the job was complete. We needed the job started ASAP, and he was able to accommodate us. We had a difficult tenant in the project home and he and his crew dealt with her in great form. He was sensitive to our needs/situation. Daniel and the crew, which included Eli, were truly fantastic in all aspects. The deck looks beautiful, and we have had numerous compliments on it since completion. I can confidently give Daniel a great review and would absolutely refer anyone in need of these services to him. Thanks again, guys!

The owner, Daniel, came out to give the estimate and clearly talked through the process and gave us options to choose from in the material to use. WIthin 2 weeks the project was scheduled. They came in removed the old fence and rebuild a new fence to match the existing fence in other parts of our yard. The project took two days and was excellent quality.

Went smooth and very well. The workers observed that the ground level of the neighbor's garden was 6" higher, and installed a 6" retaining board. They also -- without us having asked them and without charging us extra -- made part of the fence next to the gate match its complicated board pattern. Super job -- estimation process and craftsmanship!

I had an 8:15am appointment for an estimate. I waited until 8:45, called the office number, left a message. I was late for work and still waiting for a phone call from them over 3 hours later. No consideration for other people's time.

It was done In a timely manner .

this was a great experience, Daniel made several trips out to confirm what I wanted, he also gave me several suggestions and I took all of them. When the job began Eli introduced himself and kept me up to date on the project, I would go out from time to time to check on the work, Eli would stop working to be sure I was happy with the project, I did make some last minute changes and he was able to make them happen. Towards the end of the project Eli worked all day Saturday to get it done, we were going on vacation and Eli completed before we left. Job well done! thank you for the great experience!

I purchased an Angies List Big Deal for deck repair. Daniel came to provide an estimate. He was prompt and professional, but the price seemed really high, and the Big Deal would not have come close to covering the cost of the repairs. I returned the Deal to Angies List and my money was refunded.

Daniel provide a quote within 24 hours and it was a very competitive one with pictures of fence and details of type of wood, size and cement around posts to protect them. He provided separate bids to all neighbors involved. Work was done on schedule (four days) and quality was excellent. One neighbor had some small issues and Daniel himself fixed them to her satisfaction. He followed up with me to insure all people involved (three) were satisfied. I definitely recommend him.

Overall, the finished product was very good. There were some delays in getting the project started and with delivery of products. Daniel made every attempt to keep things moving, when materials were delayed from vendors. Daniel was flexible it making changes to the design on the spot, making allowances for some unpredictable things that came up. The master carpenter on the job was outstanding and did excellent work.

This was the best experience! We interviewed two other fencing companies. They offered the standard fencing material solutions. But when Daniel came out to bid the job he noticed that our home has clear cedar, horizontal siding details. He said he could provide a horizontal, clear cedar fence to compliment the house. He used the same stain for the fence so it tied the house and fence together! His workers were amazing! Perfectionists! We enjoyed every step in the process and now have a fence that truly enhances our home! Daniel also suggested a simple entrance gate that really was the frosting on the cake...........it added so much without being expensive or complicated. And his cost for all of this was competitive with the less creative options offered by the other fencing companies. We are more than pleased!

Daniel came out to bid our fence replacement. I asked about getting pre-stained cedar boards & he said they get them from Lakeside Lumber. He also said they have some special post holders his company makes & I wanted them included in the estimate. He told me it couldn't be done until July & I said that was OK. A week later the quote was emailed to me, it was a good price, but did not include the pre-stained boards & special post holders I was very interested in. He also said since the job was small he could start in 1 to 2 weeks. I emailed him back that I would like the estimate to include the pre stained boards & metal holders & I would be ready to go in the new time frame. Never received a response. I really don't understand someone going to all the time & trouble to come out bid a job, have an interested client & never reply. Very unprofessional.
