Sloppy work despite daily conversations, paint chips left in our soil, damage to the exterior of our home and landscaping, several missing notices that we found out were legally supposed to be included with any contract over $2,000.

Our house was built in 1925 and desperately in need for paint removal and new paint. We requested 3 different quotes and decided to move forward with Brush Painting based on the scope, detail work described, and reasonable price. All staff from Brush Painting was very friendly and answered all our questions or requests with lots of patience. I was 5 month pregnant while they worked on the house and Brush Painting took extra measure to ensure no dust came into the house and recommended me to come home at certain hours to avoid any lead paint contact. They spent 5 days from 8 am to 7 pm to removed our 2200 sqf house down to bare wood, which most of other vendors wouldn't do, and provided feedback and results after each phrase was completed. Much of our sidings, fascia boards, and soffit needed replacement due to water damage and Brush Painting did a great job replace and repair them with reasonable price. Brush Painting took their time primed and wood filled the sidings and area needed, primed again, and ensure there was 0% humidity before painting. The final result was fabulous. Our house looks new and we are so happy with the quality of work they have done. Brush Painting addressed all our concerns and provided the level of services and work beyond we expected. I really appreciate all their hard work and now I smile every time I come home to such a beautiful house!

Diego Valdez submitted a bid that was commensurate with other bids I received. We agreed his crew would remove the paint from 3 sides of my 1920 wood house. He and his brother Ricardo worked alongside and oversaw their crew of about 6 additional men every day for 5 days. The team was punctual, worked hard and worked long days, cleaned up the work site daily and did a thorough and careful job stripping the house paint. They also did a good job of being as careful as possible around my landscaping, and they had a porta-john delivered to the site for their workers. The brothers pointed out a few spots where my house would need repair, including the front steps and some latticework protecting some under-foundation storage. (I was already aware of these spots and agreed they needed repair.) I took them up on their offer to repair the last two items for $30/hour plus supplies, and their carpentry crew did quick, good work in both cases. I also decided to have them strip the front door (a separate job) and Ricardo made nice work of that. As part of cleaning up the work site they not only cleaned up all traces of sawdust and such, but they also power-washed the driveway and front sidewalk, getting rid of some tenacious moss and leaving everything looking wonderfully tidy and fresh. I was impressed. I would happily hire this team again.
Description of Work: A team spent five days removing the old, flaking, gooped-up paint from my old house (and sundry small related jobs).

It went well. I got the recommendation from the Portland Paint Center on Powell. I appreciated the punctuality and professionalism of Brush painting. It was clear that they would do the job right, and look at all the small details. we have a shake cedar siding on our 1956 house and the south side and some of the west side is peeling and bubbling badly due to the previous owner doing a crappy paint job with crappy paint. Brush's proposal seemed high but that did include: 1. removing ALL paint from the south side by heat and scraping so none of the original paint would be left and cause bubbling and peeing in the future. 2. selective replacement of damaged shakes. 3. complete painting of the whole house and trim. the proposal also included the removal of all trim for thorough painting and removal of all wires, gutters etc and reinstalling them The price was so high because the removal of paint on the southside would be labor intensive. that was roughly 4500 and the painting was about 3500. I thought the price was high and so gave it a C for and quot;fair.and quot; Clearly it was for a professional job that would last. However, I think the prep work on the south side could probably have been done for less than 4500. Based on the cost of the bid and another bid, we decided to just reside the whole house since it wouldn't be that much more and then there would be no future painting issues with the other sides of the house with the shake. If we need painting in the future we'd give them a call and opportunity to bid. They indicated that if we had hardiplank or other similar siding it would have only cost about 1800. That is a very competitive price from the bids we got and my research.
