This is the first time I hired Alex Freddi Construction. He and his team finished their work almost 3 months ago. My daughters have been using the bathroom every day. Absolutely no problem. It's still very beautiful. My experience with Alex Freddi and his team was excellent. Alex was a very good communicator. He was always available and answered all my questions in timely manner. The actual work was done by Grayson and his team. They were also very professional, responsible, and dedicated. I would definitely recommend Alex and his team and would contact them again next year to remodel another bathroom.
Description of Work: Demolishing bathroom (bathtub, floor tiles, toilet, cabinet, mirror, etc). Building new walk-in-shower (shower head/bar, pan, glass door) and installing floor/wall tiles, toilet, custom-made cabinet, and mirror. Painting walls/door.

It went well. Alex was great to work with on planning and options for construction. Kyle performed much of the work and coordinated the services of subcontractors, who were skilled at providing high-quality finishes and handling a few design curveballs that made our job unique.
Description of Work: Remodeled bathroom, removing spa and shower, and replacing them with extensive cabinetry, tile and granite surfaces, and a innovative walk in shower design.

Kyle and Alex are so terrific to work with -- they are always just a text or phone call away -- I never have to worry that if I am worried about something that I cannot reach them -- they are terrific about calling and responding immediately!! After having to use some other handymen for small projects, I cant tell you what a difference it makes to have contractors who are so responsive and nice about questions. I never get the feeling that they are patronizing me or that they think my worries or questions are stupid! You are always kept informed about what is happening with the project -- communications are their strong point no doubt!! but also too -- the quality of the work is so fantastic!! It just comes out beautiful. In 2014, they did work for me on a house that I sold for 100,000 dollars over what I thought I was going to get! the buyers who looked at the house loved the work that Kyle and Alex did -- the same will be true in the future for this bath addition which is beautiful and wonderfully functional!
Description of Work: This was a bathroom addition in a small 1,000 square foot condominium. The condo only had one bathroom and this was a real problem for my mother. Considerable expertise and skill was needed to figure out a location where a bath could be added within the confines of the existing walls and spaces in the condo. Kyle and Alex did their usual superior job in figuring this all out and then getting the plans approved with Washington County. We added a toilet, pedestal sink and a walk in handicap tub. The work was just phenomenal. Kyle had to figure out the engineering needed to add a pocket door to enter the space and also get this approved separately by the permit folks in Washington county. This required special drawings and engineering determinations about the load above the proposed pocket door. The tub also proved a bit tricky to install because it was a floor model that I got for a heavy discounted price. Kyle had to do some special planning and refinishing work to make the installation work -- but he did a beautiful job! I will try to attach pictures if I can. Figuring out the placement of all the fixtures also required considerable skill due to the small dimensions of the addition -- but it all looks beautiful now! very exquisite. Also, another nice feature, Kyle installed by Ginger grab bars and they look terrific -- beautiful but functional -- in addition, he also suggested the use of a radiant towel bar to supply the heat that would be needed in the bathroom since connecting to the furnace was not going to be possible. It too looks beautiful but has a very special function. In case I forget, Kyle also installed the Robern cabinet accommodating its special lighting and electrical hook ups. These cabinets are terrific but they are bear cats to install - they are heavy and very complicated -- Kyle is a master when it comes to getting these cabinets in place and getting them to function properly. All of this work was completed in March -- I feel confident that the work has substantially increased the value of the condo and has certainly resulted in a better quality of life in this small space. Oh I almost forgot to mention the amazing tile work done by Kyle's tile guys. They are masters of matching and laying out tile -- that is doubly important in a small space.
As usual, Kyle was imminently flexible and easy to work with -- this project required my many schedule adjustments due to an unanticipated problem with having to replace the entire heating and cooling systems for the condo. This work required a week long interruption in the project to allow the HVAC guys to come in and tear out the non functioning multi split system and install and new gas furnace and air conditioning system. Kyle and Alex were so terrific working with me to accommodate this huge project in the middle of their scheduled work. Kyle is really a master of scheduling the trades to do a project. This project required not only working with the HVAC guys, but electrical, plumbing, and tile work as well as painters, and dry wallers!! I dont know how he does it -- when I think back on this project, I think I would have a nervous breakdown fussing with these myriad schedules -- but for me, it was no stress at all - it worked seamlessly!
Description of Work: This was a bathroom remodel where an old tub was removed and a new walk-in shower was created. Kyle and Alex helped us design a plan to install a walk in shower and redo the electrical and furnace vent placements to greatly improve the safety and efficiency of the bathroom. My mother had fallen in the bath tub shower combination - slipping on the tub and then breaking her elbow as it became wedged in between the handrail and the wall in the tub/shower combo. This project removed this dangerous tub and created a curb free shower!! What a delight it is to just walk into a shower!! I always knew that a walk in shower would be nice, but I cant tell you how much less stress and strain it is to have a totally curb free shower and it is gorgeous. Kyle helped me get DT glass out to install a sliding glass frameless door. Kyles tile guys were amazing, taking great pains to lay out the tile pattern so it would look beautiful -- its really a work of art. IN addition to the tile work in the shower, Kyle put in this most ingenious slit drain that looks so pretty and ensures that water never flows out of the shower area into the dressing area. He also installed a Mr. Steam wall seat for the shower that looks just terrific. For the rest of the bathroom, Mh custom cabinetry created the most beautiful custom cabinet. Kyle then installed a series of Robern cabinets that required wiring and linking them together along with a special lighting package. Overall, the bathroom is so much more functional and beautiful!! I highly recommend a project like this and Kyle and Alex are the ones to make it happen. The project also included a last minute add on of installing a new kitchen back splash and counter top. Kyle had to do some major rehab of the base cabinets to make this project possible. He is a carpentry wiz, and his work is always stellar. The work also included tiling the entire living room and hallway. Modifications of the laundry space were required to accommodate the new tile floor.

Excellent. The workers gutted the bathroom, removed and added a new window, installed new tub, shower, toilet, vanity, fan, lighting, medicine chest, tiled walls and floor. The workers were friendly, competent and professional. Alex Freddi is easy to work with and answers questions promptly.
Alex Freddi was personable, helpful and always available for communication. His workers arrived on the designated date, came on time, and cleaned up very day. They were easy to work with, friendly, competent and professional. The recommended companies that we used was excellent. Our bathroom remodel was painless and resulted in a beautiful bathroom.
Description of Work: The provider gave us very detailed information about the process with a list of companies that the provided recommended. The workers gutted the bathroom, took our a large window, built a new wall for a smaller window, installed the window, installed new shower, tub, toilet, vanity, medicine chest, lights, fan and tiled walls and floor.

We were very pleased with our experience with Alex Freddi Construction. The estimate was very accurate and there were no surprises as the project went along. They started and ended on time. Every time we had a question or a concern they responded right away. They offered complementary design service. This was extremely helpful in getting the kitchen design correct and in picking out materials for cabinets, countertops, lighting and backsplash. We are very happy with our remodel and would recommend Alex Freddi Construction.

This is the second bathroom remodel I have completed with Alex Freddi Construction. About 4 years ago we remodeled the master bathroom and this remodel was for the other upstairs bathroom. We had a different team this time but they were equally as qualified as the first team and did a great job. They were prompt and cleaned up after every days work. They communicated well and answered all of our questions. The quality of workmanship was high and the subcontractors are also high quality. The cabinet maker (MH Custom Cabinetry) does beautiful work and is competitive in their pricing. The shower door installer, DT Glass, also did a great job. Alex's recommendations for materials such as the tile, etc were spot on and I will continue to use ProDesign in Tigard in the future. Overall Alex and his crew did a great job and I would highly recommend them. They have grown significantly since I first used them and this is testament to their high quality work and reputation.
Description of Work: Bathroom demo, minor dry rot repair, subfloor replacement, install Hardibacker and vapor barrier, floor tile installation, new toilet installation, new light fixture installation, new sink and hardware installation, towel bar and toilet paper holder installation, paint walls, vanity countertop, backsplash, mirror installation, plumbing and wiring as needed.

The work was outstanding. From inception to completion, Alex and Kyle did an amazing job. They were very upfront, honest, punctual, and detail-oriented. We were immediately informed of any unforeseen issues that arose during the remodel and those issues were resolved with great care. We cannot speak highly enough of the work that was done and we have already scheduled them to renovate our kitchen. In short, this is an outstanding crew that will treat your project and home with great care.
We couldn't have been happier with this job. Alex got his team started on our bathroom remodel fairly quickly after we first spoke to him and it was smooth sailing from there. He was fairly predictive with his estimate and work schedule, and we had very little to no surprises along the way. Bill and Bob handled the majority of the work and not only were they true masters of their craft, but they were also extremely friendly and trust-worthy. Each of them also put in the extra time to meet us after hours when necessary to discuss the details of the job and advise us on certain decisions that would affect the project as a whole. As a result, our bathroom remodel turned out exactly the way we had imagined. Additionally around the same time, we discovered some issues with our DIY fireplace re-finishing that caused us some pause before moving forward with the work ourselves. Not only did Alex quickly turn around an extremely reasonable quote, but Bill and Bob transitioned seamlessly into the fireplace work, restructured the hearth from below and rebuilt the stone tile design to perfection. Again, we couldn't have been happier. We'd be more than happy to recommend Alex and his crew to everyone we know.

Details? I could write a book! But just know: you're hiring "the Good Guys" with Alex, Bill & Bob. Of course you're going to run into problems with a project this big and you'll get through it with a cool head and these guys to troubleshoot the technical details. They are problem solvers. You can be as involved in the project as you like: either hand over the keys or ask for daily updates; they take both in stride. It's obvious they genuinely care about the quality of their work and the experience of their clients. Specifics you might want to know about their operation: after signing the contract with Alex, the construction team, Bill & Bob, took charge. With them, we made many changes to the project (especially electrical and the fireplace) without writing out change orders. Other than one time when we had to check with Alex on the basic materials he quoted, we trusted Bill & Bob to keep track of extra time and materials, as well as verbal instructions. A few little things were overlooked, such as a light switch not wired as we requested, but the tradeoff was a lot less stress than micromanaging. And we think the costs for the extra work were reasonable in the end. Also know that deadlines are closer than you think. If you haven't picked out all of your cabinets, counters, tile, flooring, lighting, plumbing and hardware in advance: DO IT NOW and you won't have to keep checking with your team about when certain subcontractors are scheduled to stay ahead of them!
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel, including: referral to kitchen designer (K. Renz, separate review), framing and moving exterior door and window, installation of French doors, replacing and painting siding, demolition of concrete step and repaving area, general demolition, installation of engineered wood floor, cabinets, venting, slate tile backsplash, custom fireplace surround, misc. hardware and light fixtures. (Cost above is for labor and basic-not finish-materials. They employed subcontractors for drywall, plumbing, and electrical.)
We loved working with them! We love our house now! When we bought this fixer, my husband and I really wanted to get our hands dirty and do as much as we could. Alex and his team worked with us to step in where we needed, or even take over when we couldn't complete items ourselves. Not only do they provide quality work, but they looked for areas that we could improve and made suggestions that made a world of difference. I met with several contractors and Alex was by far our favorite. They are professional and priced just right (they were right in the middle of all our bids). The big thing for us, is they worked with us and we appreciated all their time to get this project completed! Thanks Alex and Gary... you guys are the best! Sorry for the late review!
Description of Work: We bought a house that needed basically to be gutted and put back together (pictures will show you the work involved). Alex and Gary rebuilt walls, fixed dry rot, took out fireplaces and replaced with window frames, plumbing, and drywall.

Here are some of the reasons why we give an A rating on the work Alex Freddi Construction LLC did on our kitchen remodel during Dec 2015-Jan 2016. The cost shown on the project includes labor and material. Expertise. Having someone with extensive work experience and knowledge in the area helped us tremendously as this was our first big remodel project. Alex walked us through the process, provided detailed documentation on what to expect, how to prepare for the remodel, and patiently answered our (endless) questions before the remodel began. Alex’s team Bob (Project Manager) and Bill patiently answered questions during and after the remodel. Timeliness. From the time we called to make an appointment to get an estimate on the project to the end of the remodel, we found that Alex and his team were timely in their response and we saw them work hard to keep with the scheduled timeline they had given us before they started the remodel. The remodel team showed up to work at 7 a.m. every day until the work was finished 5 weeks later! Communication. Alex gave us an estimate the evening of the day he came over to discuss our kitchen remodel! He promptly phoned/emailed us back on questions we had during the process. His team was always reachable, on phone/text throughout the remodel. When we requested changes they were accommodating and clear in explaining what the change entailed, so we were in the know throughout the process. We really appreciated them keeping us updated on the progress of the remodel work. Professionalism. Alex provided us with all the paperwork, license information, agreement of work, references, how to prepare for the remodel, along with a detailed cost estimate on the remodel. His team Bob, Bill, electricians, plumber, and other staff were professional, and extremely good natured. Budget. Alex gave us an estimate that we found agreeable before we decided to go with his proposal. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a refund after the remodel! Kindness. During the project we had a family emergency and had to leave the country before the remodel was finished. Alex, Bob and Bill agreed to take on the responsibility of finishing the work while we were gone, so we could come back to a completely remodeled kitchen. Bob texted us pictures of the completed work when we were away. We will always remember them for their kindness for going above and beyond what was expected of them.

Fantastic! The craftsmanship and attention detail were superb!! Alex provides the services of a kitchen designer, and Kathryn created a wonderful, workable kitchen in our space, assisting us with the selection of granite and cabinets. The cost included the design, all materials, and labor. The original estimate for labor was about $29,000, but we did some of the demo work [removed cabinets, sink, and some carpet], and we added a couple of small items along the way, so the labor cost was about $27,000. All of the subcontractors were clean and courteous. Wayne was the person who worked from the beginning to the end, with special attention to detail on everything that was done from the demo to the trim--he had a great solution for everything! The job that Ryan the electrician did was also exceptional. Although each subcontractor cleaned up after their jobs, when the project was completely finished, Alex also sent a professional housecleaner at no additional cost--a very pleasant surprise! Everyone that we dealt with, including project manager Grayson, was professional and responsive to any questions we had. We would definitely hire them again, and recommend them.
Description of Work: Opened up load-bearing wall between the kitchen and family room and added support in the crawlspace, completely redid kitchen layout, cabinets, counters, backsplash, replaced subfloors and installed hardwood floors in kitchen, family room, dining room and refinished existing hardwoods in foyer and hallway, replaced powder room cabinet, installed tile floor in powder room, painted kitchen, family rm., dining rm., downstairs and upstairs hall/balcony area, installed new back door in kitchen.
We contacted Alex Freddi after reading good reviews on Angie's List. He promptly returned our call for a bid, and came to our house shortly thereafter to look at our kitchen. He was polite, kind, and professional; we liked him immediately and decided to hire his company for the kitchen remodel. Our home is in the north Mt. Tabor area, was built in 1928, and it had the original kitchen. The kitchen was small, cramped, no room for a dishwasher, and not functional or easy in which to work or cook. Gary was our contractor and he was great to work with. He was responsive to all our concerns and questions and made our wishes a priority. The remodel involved removing a back door and walling it off. Also, the pantry was closed off and extended into the bathroom for added shelving. Gary coordinated all the different trades who came in to work. All the workmen were great, i.e., Luke, RJ the electrician, the lathe and plaster demolishers, Angel and his coworker who put in all new drywall, and Norm who laid the tile backsplash. The guys were all friendly, polite, and respectful to our home, and patient with and kind to our 2 dogs. Norm, especially, was a perfectionist with the tile work, he did a beautiful job. He and Gary worked tirelessly to mount and install our cabinetry perfectly, not an easy job since our old kitchen was not perfectly straight. I was pleasantly surprised that the remodel process went as smoothly as it did. The work was completed in 6 weeks, and our new kitchen and bathroom shelving are beautiful. The cost of the project included labor, basic construction materials, permits, and the trades work. It was up to us to purchase on our own the materials and fixtures, such as the cabinets, countertops, tile, grout, light and plumbing fixtures, appliances, door/drawer pulls, faucet, and paint. At first it felt daunting to be responsible for these things, but we learned a lot about materials and how to shop for and purchase them. I would highly recommend Alex Freddi and his team.

Kudos to Alex Freddi. My specific team consisted of Kathryn Renz, the designer, and both Bob "the Builder" Locus and "Mr. Bill" Pacholl who were the heart of the demo and reconstruct process. The house is a small 1929 Laurelhurst cottage in Portland OR, with beautiful old woodwork. My fear was that a kitchen remodel would destroy the ambiance of the 1929 structure. Not a problem! Kathryn Renz has vision. She redesigned the kitchen retaining delightful old features that other designers failed to incorporate, despite my requests. She guided me to decisions regarding specific aspects of the remodel, such as choice of granite, counters, tile, flooring and lighting. I am comfortable with my choices and the money I spent. I needed a modern kitchen that carried through elements from the rest of the house, especially the old mahogany woodwork. Bob Locus hand-crafted new molding for the kitchen that is such a close match to the original house molding that one must look several times to see any differences. The continuity was more, and more beautiful, than I hoped for. By the by: Bob and Bill exceeded my expectations. They are great workers, efficient, and congenial. They roll with the punches, and they are Trustworthy. My husband and I were away twice during construction for a total of about 11 days. We had no qualms about leaving the key. Also, Bob's subcontractors (e.g. lead removal) were great.
Description of Work: The kitchen project required removal of a wall, turning an exterior door into a window, turning a coat closet into a pantry and relocation of the door to the basement from the tiny kitchen to the dining room. The relocated basement door looks original.

Alex responded immediately to my initial contact regarding an estimate. His estimate arrived hours after his first visit. I was amazed, as no other contractor had even shown a willingness to respond to my calls. His estimate turned out to be quite accurate. We added to the project and costs were still kept within a reasonable budget. Gary, our Crew Chief, was very responsive to our needs. He did an excellent job of managing the many subs - both timing and costs. I was most impressed with Gary's attitude regarding priorities... whatever our priorities were, they became his priorities. The details that mattered most to us were carefully monitored. I am very detail-oriented, so this was very important to me. The project included three completely remodeled bathrooms and remodeled kitchen, walls coming down, extensive tiling, painting, electrical, drywall... well, it involved almost every sub you can imagine. They even built a beautiful little storage area under the stairs - a previous dead space. Gary even managed to place a new large ceiling beam to match existing beams - replacing a load bearing wall. Simply spectacular result. People walk into the entry of the house saying how nice it looks and then turn the corner - and every time, their jaws drop. The changes are so dramatic - I can't describe. Alex initially walked into my house and within a few minutes described recommended changes. He was spot on. Great eye. The results were a real team effort by Gary and his crew, and we couldn't be more pleased.

Ours was an unusual situation because we were out of state during the entire remodel experience. Alex assured us that all could be handled long distance, and he was so right! Alex was quick to respond to our initial contact, to review our project and to provide a detailed, reasonable proposal. Gary, the supervisor, was a perfectionist and could not have been more dilligent, detail oriented nor pleasant. It was so easy working with Kathryn Renz, the designer. She valued and respected my strong opinions, guiding me through selection and purchase. Her prices were always reasonable; where I could purchase elsewhere for less, I was free to act. After the final walk through, the few concerns we had were immediately addressed and corrected. The project was completed on time, at a fair price and utterly to my satisfaction.

Absolutely stunning remodel done by our team at Alex Freddi Construction headed by PM Grayson Tumlinson. Team did outstanding work with everything from tile, countertops, cabinetry, flooring, lighting, fireplace, new window boxes. Tore out the old down to studs, and now we have what looks and feels like a brand new home upstairs! Chose to place the call to Alex Freddi given all the positive reviews on Angie's list. He was prompt in coming out to bid, very professional and knowledgeable. He came out during the remodel and after remodel was finished to make sure we were happy with the work being done. We were pleasantly surprised to find his bid was about 30% less than the bid given by the contractor we had previously used for a complete kitchen remodel. We couldn't be happier with the outcome of our remodel thanks to all at Alex Freddi Construction. We will not hesitate to call upon Alex for future remodeling needs.
Description of Work: Master Bathroom + bedroom/sitting room remodel, Custom Barn Door
Cost: Of the 3 bids we got, this company's was the most expensive. This is especially true when you factor in purchasing materials and fixtures separately. The suppliers Alex recommended turned out to have the best deals on quality materials that we could find. This helped us stay well within budget. Timeline: The remodel was estimated to be completed within 2 to 3 weeks. The work was completed in under 2 weeks. That's right, under. Hooray! Quality: The construction feels solid and looks great. The subcontractor who did our tile, Norm Loveland, deserves special thanks here. He has excellent attention to detail and pointed out a few areas where he noticed slight irregularities in tile placement that we never would have noticed on our own. He offered to redo any sections of tile that we did not like, but we declined since these irregularities were minor and due to our old house's structural quirks rather than Norm's workmanship. Communication: Alex was extremely attentive, knowledgeable and helpful in all our interactions with him. He answered our questions promptly and gave excellent recommendations on materials and fixtures. Our project manager, Gary, kept us well informed on progress and hooked us up with a Port-a-Potty free of charge (thank goodness!). Gary did misunderstand that we wanted tile wainscot, which surprised us. We noticed this oversight just in time, and Gary and Norm took immediate action to give us what we had asked for. That was the "worst" part of the whole process, but we were easily able to talk it through and resolve it together. Overall: Everyone we interacted with sincerely wanted us to be pleased not just with the work, but also with the process. We'd happily do business with Alex Freddi Construction again in the future, and we are recommending them to our friends.
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel for our cozy 2-bed, 1-bath bungalow that was built in 1947. Removed old bathtub, shower surround, vanity, flooring and water-damaged drywall. Installed new bathtub, pedestal sink, toilet, ventilation fan and tile (flooring, shower surround and wainscot).
Alex is personable, prompt, knowledgeable, and professional. We were excited to hire him even though his bid was quite a bit higher than a couple others we had received. Having read the reviews on Angie?s list before talking with him, we expected a lot of personal attention for the extra $$$. Unfortunately, our experience working with the Alex Freddi?s project managers was disappointing. We felt like we paid for layers of management rather than personal attention. We paid Alex: $13800 for labor, $700 for basic supplies (cement board, thinset, etc.), $500 for shower permit/inspection, $325 for a mirror frame, and $570 for additional jobs in other rooms. The cost paid to Alex did NOT include: cabinets, countertop, shower door, mirror glass, light fixtures (and all electrical work which was done prior to the remodel), plumbing fixtures, tile, grout and caulk. We live in Tigard, Oregon, but we were assigned a project manager in Vancouver, Washington. He came to our house a few weeks before the project started, and that?s the last time we saw him. He passed our project along to a different project manager who later quit, and then we finished with a third project manager who was in training. All of these project managers were located in Vancouver. The subs who actually did the work were unsupervised except by us. Some didn?t bring the right supplies or equipment for the job, didn?t come when scheduled, and didn?t clean up even when asked. Perhaps our assigned project manager was just too busy for us. It probably would have been better to have worked with someone local which was what I expected since Alex?s business address is in Beaverton. When I sent our final payment to Alex, I included a letter telling Alex about our experience and mentioning examples of work we liked or didn?t like, and he was nice enough to reply that he was disappointed to hear this and would like to talk to us about it. He does want to have happy customers. If there was something that he could arrange to fix, I believe that he would,

After seeing Alex Freddi's A+ rating on Angie's List, I reached out to get a quote and was surprised by how quickly Alex responded. I was looking for some help on a full gut kitchen remodel but wanted to tackle as much DIY as possible and contract the rest. Alex was happy to accommodate my request and was always fast to respond throughout the quote/contract process, so I felt like I was in solid hands right from the start. Bob took point as PM on my project and did an awesome job moving the reno along at a steady and timely pace. He was always quick to respond to questions via phone/text and was always willing to offer advice for buying supplies for the DIY portion of our job. He also had a keen eye for detail, catching a couple of errors with the plumbing and drywall install and calling the workers back out to fix the mistakes cost free. Probably the most appreciated and impressive part of the whole process, though, was his team's ability to take on a couple of my major DIY tasks last minute after falling ill, including drywall/mudding/taping and our cabinet installation. His crew scheduled the add-on work in without delaying my project and despite having another large project outside of mine to tend to. I now have the kitchen of my dreams and am so incredibly happy and thankful!
This is the second time we have used Alex, Bob and Bill. We greatly appreciated that we had the same team tackling this project as our previous bathroom remodel. We were just as pleased this time as we were before! Nightly, the guys left a clean workspace. They were always very communicative in terms of hours they would be there, where they were in the process and anything they needed from me. One of the things that I most appreciate about this company is the responsiveness to our needs. When we explained that we wanted to create a playroom for our daughter, they responded. We weren't up sold on materials. They understood durability was key - and helped us pick materials accordingly. The room is perfect for a Toddler Tornado and we will be using Alex in the future!
