Alex was a very reassuring presence on the work site. His crew spoke very highly of him and he checked in with them regularly throughout the day to monitor their progress.
We discovered asbestos in our flooring during demo and Alex made arrangements for the demo to be done while we were out of town so we wouldn't have to deal with the noise or the mess. He kept us informed throughout the process and always alerted us to any upcoming work that he would need us there for. The crew that he brought in was very skilled and mindful of details. They kept me informed of what was going to be done and made sure I was happy with the work throughout the day. Some of them were in our home for several days at a time and they made the process very pleasant. Honestly, I'll miss seeing everyone.
During the process we discovered some roofing problems that were unrelated to the work that we did. Alex jumped in and even helped us out with all of that too so we didn't have to worry. My husband and I were so impressed. Alex stood by his work and the prices he quoted. If we made changes from the plan, he alerted us to any costs incurred well before the changes were made.
I would definitely work with Alex Freddi again. A kind, reliable professional, and an overall great guy. We plan to remodel our bathrooms next year and we'll be sure to call on Alex.
Alex's team gutted the original bathroom in a couple of hours and then looked for areas that needed repairing before they continued. They did have to do some leveling around the toilet area, which we had suspected might be the case. They then put down hardi-backer board all around the shower area and the floor. After the tub installation, the tiler came up with a tile design that we liked better than our original design. After all of the tile was grouted, Kyle (our project manager) installed the toilet, vanity, countertop, hardware, and sealed all of the seams. The job was very well done.
Kyle and his team were very flexible, as they had to work around several trips that we had to make during the renovation. They let us take on parts of the job that we thought we could handle (we bought our own vanity, and had to modify it to make it fit into the bathroom. All of Kyle's team were very professional and considerate. They covered the flooring from the garage (where they stored their equipment and supplies ) to the bathroom area. When their work created any odors (such as the tiling), they sealed the bathroom as well as possible to keep the odors out of the rest of the house.
We are very happy with the job, and plan to use Alex Freddi Construction on at least two more renovations (master bathroom and the kitchen).
Alex managed the project, sending out plumbers, electricians, framers, drywallers and floor installers and refinishers. His assistant, Kyle did a lot of the work too, and he was equally great to work with. Everyone Alex sent was friendly and professional. I would definitely work with him again, as well as recommend him to others! And our kitchen is beautiful!
In addition to the regular subs he usually works with, he found a metalworker to fabricate the stainless steel piece above the cooktop to specifications and talked with 4 or 5 metal workers about fabricating a stainless steel utensil rack we wanted to incorporate. After a lot of time and effort, it was decided that the utensil rack was not practicable. Scott also spent a lot of time finding an artisan able to do the Venetian Plaster. He finally brought in someone from Anacortes, WA. The finished project met (or exceeded) our expectations.
The project was handled very professionally. Great care was taken to protect the flooring and to confine the dust. We were told exactly when to expect each subcontractor. The subs were all very friendly, professional and arrived on time. They cleaned up at the end of each day and over weekends, made sure that we had use of our kitchen.
The price was inline with other estimates and change orders were discussed in advance of additional work.
I would highly recommend Alex Freddi Construction. They were a delight to work with.
Mike was the project manager and was also very professional and was a great communicator. He always called/texted me back quickly when I had a question. They addressed all concerns we had along the way and I couldn't have been happier working with them.
"After spending over an hour walking through the partially finished/partially unfinished basement with the owner, it was obvious that the scope of work had not yet been clearly defined. The space was very large and included many different add-ons done throughout the years. It was almost certain that the scope of work would have changed once we started the job. We tried to explain this, and the affect that it would have on the price, to the owner. Given the circumstances, it would have been virtually impossible and unprofessional to provide a specific price for the project. Instead we suggested that the most reasonable way to do the work would be on a “time and material” basis. We also offered our time and support to work with the owner, step by step, to get a more defined solution to the numerous issues associated with the project. In regards to the timeline, we strive to provide accurate and free estimates for our clients. To do so in a timely manner, we respond to all requests in the order in which they are received. In all honesty, we find this review to be very harsh, given our efforts to provide a realistic view of the situation, and given the time we invested in walking through the project, offering creative suggestions and honest solutions. We did all of this at no cost to the homeowner. Thank you for taking the time to hear our side of the story."
Alex is very easy to work with and is a very good communicator. We basicaly had nightly calls or emails updating the progress of the work and he promptly answered any concerns that I had. We had quite a bit more dry rot than anticipated and Alex was more than fair with his extra cost for the dry rot repair. We will be remodeling our other upstairs bathroom next year and will definitely use Alex for that project.
I am very indecisive, and Alex helped me out w/decision making and never made me feel like I was a bother, when I had a hundred questions or concerns. He introduced me to others that would be doing the work, so that I was comfortable w/who would be in the house. If I emailed Alex, I received a very quick response---same w/phone calls being returned.
During the work, no one was inconvenienced and it was a pleasure having Alex and employees around. Alex maintained contact w/me throughout the entire job. They beautifully repaired the walls, added new trim, painted rooms, installed cabinetry and flooring to the basement level, which was water damaged. Everyone was happy with the results! This was a positive experience on all levels. Thank you so much Alex Freddi Construction for all of your hard work. I would and will recommend you to anyone and everyone who needs help w/their home. From my first call to Alex Freddi Construction, I was pretty sure we had found our professional. Alex came to the house promptly and walked through it with me as I explained my ideas for the kitchen and everything else. He patiently listened to everything I said, and made helpful comments that were clearly based on experience when I talked about removing walls, adding recessed lights, and installing new windows. All of my ideas were met with a "can do" response, but tempered with comments about the reality of doing so. For example, I mentioned that we were considering a "wet room" concept for one of the bathrooms i.e. where the entire floor would be sloped to a central drain. Alex said that this would certainly be possible, and then described in detail what structural changes would have to be made to implement this idea. His comments were non-judgmental, but they helped me decide to nix this idea. Within a day after the tour, Alex provided me with a detailed estimate of the work we discussed. He also assured me that they would work with me if I wanted to do some of the work such as deconstruction or anything else.
Alex and Mike S. showed up promptly on the day we were to begin. Mike was along on some previous visits while we were estimating, and would be the person doing most of the actual work. Great progress happened the first day, and it continued throughout the project. Mike was a great communicator, and we addressed issues as they came up. Some of our ideas required some clever workarounds, and Mike was very good at implementing them. For example, we needed to hide our small sized washer and dryer inside cabinets that looked like the rest of the kitchen cabinets (laundry is in the kitchen area). IKEA does not make cabinets for this purpose, and Mike had to figure out everything from positioning the water inlets to how to make the units accessible for maintenance while still hiding them inside the cabinets. This hidden laundry area was one of the great successes of the project. Mike also never forgot our decisions, and if any issue arose, Mike was quick to call and explain the options so that I could make a decision on how to proceed. When the old kitchen wall insulation was revealed, Mike let me decide whether or not to replace it (we did!). We wanted to run the new floor completely under the cabinets (separate contractor), and Mike was helpful in coordinating the cabinet installation with the floor installation.
There were no surprises on the final bill. All of the work was performed at the agreed upon price, and the additional work I requested was clearly identified. I pointed out a discrepancy about a window that we decided not to replace during the project, and Alex was quick to make the adjustment. Overall, the project concluded well, and the quality of Mike's work was outstanding.
"Thank you anyway for the opportunity to provide you with an estimate. We wish you luck with your remodel."
