From the phone call to request service to the completion of the task, Mike and his wife (owner/repairman and scheduler) were courteous, friendly and genuinely interested. No nonsense, no cross-selling and local business owners: For a repair experience, this was delightful.

Our frostless freezer was leaking water from the door and the temperature at the top of the freezer was much too warm. the repair guy said our fan motor was out and he did nOt have one with him so he would have to return in a couple of days with a new one. I expressed dismay and was internally frustrated at having to wait yet more days for a fix (the service person was scheduled about five days after my initial call). He said that maybe he could just work faster and get back with the correct part that day. He did just two or three hours later and the repair was quick.

Mike did an excellent job. Showed up on time, was very professional and pleasant.

The service man was very knowledgeable and did the work fast. I even bought an appliance and called for their advice on what service would cost on it. They were very helpful and it was a good experience.

Mike showed up 15 minutes early (after the office checked with me to see if that was ok). He quickly diagnosed the problem, replaced the part, explained what he had done and let me know that the refrigerator internal parts all looked ok and that we should not have further problems. I highly recommend A & P Appliance.

Based on Angie's List reports, A&P Appliance was one of the top rated appliance repair businesses in my area. When I called the company, the person answering the phone knew exactly what I was describing (my do-it-yourself attempt to replace the oven light went awry) and scheduled a service call for the first available opening. Mike arrived this morning right on time, and was able to repair and use the existing socket, saving me the cost of a new part. The Angie's List reports gave rave reviews of Mike's service, so I was hoping to get him - and I was not disappointed.

My initial phone call was answered by a real person! I was able to make the appointment for the next day. Mike replaced the rubber seal ring around the front loading washer door. He also brought a washer cleaner product with him to clean out the mold smell. He checker the dryer for overheating and discovered the dryer vent was clogged. A&P Appliance does not clean dryer vents but they did recommend the Duct Guys, who did an excellent job cleaning the vent. Mike also vacuumed up all the debris he found under the washer and dryer.

We met Curtis when he was cleaning our neighbors gutters and asked him to clean ours also. Curtis did an excellent job cleaning all our gutters and even repaired a damaged downspout. He finished up the job by power washing a brick walkway by our lawn. We plan to have him return and do some yard cleanup next.

My Kenmore Elite dryer was not heating. After looking around Angie's List, I called them at 8:30 am. They came out at 9:10 am! He quickly got to work, saw the broken heating element, had a replacement in his truck, and replaced it. He vacuumed up all the lint around the unit, and told me I should replace my dryer venting system, and call an air duct cleaning company to clean out the total length of the venting system. Quick, excellent work!

As I never take just one persons estimate of a job, I had called another appliance repair place that was listed on AL and was told that the "wax motor" that latches the door had failed, had caused the mother board to fail, that it would cost $250+ to replace it and that he would order the parts & come replace them in 2 days. Then I called A & P and was connected to Mike who told me how to open up the control panel and to look for the blown resistor to see if it actually had damaged the board. I followed his instructions but couldn't seem to find the resistor I was looking for so I called back, but he was in the field, so I asked if they could send him out the next day - which they did. He arrived on time, took his shoes off and went to check out the washer controls, which I had left open for him. Sure enough, the resistor was blown and he showed me exactly where to find it. He then proceeded to explain how and why the board had been damaged & that is would cost about $250 to replace. He also added that after replacing it, there was a lower board that would probably go bad within the next 6 months and it too would cost about another $250 to replace. So, I asked what would he do if it were his Washer, he had had the similar model himself, and he told me, " I got rid of mine years ago" He was actually surprised that my washer had managed to last 10 years without needing similar repairs. It turns out that Maytag had been sued over this series of washers and was part of the reason for being bought out by Whirlpool. So, I asked what would he recommend and he said probably a Whirlpool but that could also include models from Sears or Costco. He did suggest that I avoid the bells and whistles as they are just more things to go wrong - and definitely avoid a steam dryer. I followed his instructions and, although it cost me a lot more than $700 (the cost of two boards, a 'wax motor' + labor) I am very happy with the results. I feel the difference between the two companies was not their diagnostic ability, but the way I felt after talking to them - One felt like he would come out do the repair and be on his way while A & P felt like I was an intelligent person who could understand the situation and was capable of diagnosing it myself while also giving me good solid advice on how not to waste money on repair that there was a good chance of needing to be redone in a short period of time. I will definitely use them again and recommend them.

Called in for repair to grinder. Prompt response. Determined that entire unit needed to be replaced. Discussed pros & cons -- pros, had replacement in truck & could get repair done that day. Cons, price was as much as it would cost to get lower end but brand new machine. We decided to stay with Kitchenaid stainless steel interior on 7 year old machine. In retrospect, we might have waited to shop for new one, but that would have meant another week of handwashing dishes ;-) Machine a bit noisier than when new, but still much quieter than original Kenmore 'contractor special' Prompt response, and honored Angie's coupon.

The repairman gave me some hints about where to buy cheaper water filters for the refrigerator than from Sears.

They are responsive, affordable and clever. I had a problem with the water line and because they are not a plumbing service, they couldn?t do it for me. But, the guy told me what to do and said he would come back later to make the connection once I get it done. I didn?t have to call upon him to do it. It was really nice as they went the extra step and didn?t say that they can?t do the work and did not ask me to call the plumber. They actually saved me money by telling me what I needed to do.

Overall I'd like to say that Mike, the technician, is a really nice guy! He has worked on many of my appliances over the years in numerous houses and I have always been really pleased with the service and the price. I recommend him to everyone I know.

After consulting Angie's list for someone to repair my oven, I had an appointment immediately that day. I did mention Angie's list as the source of information. The service technician arrived at the appointed time, figured out the problem, and then set about removing the built-in combination microwave and regular oven. As he suspected, it was a fuse within the oven that blew, so he replaced the original fuse with a more powerful one. Clean, tidy, timely, and done!

I have had a good experience with them. They did a very good job. They were professional and right on time. They came the next day after I called them.

My dishwasher was not working and A&P came out, diagnosed the problem, took a look at my paperwork and saw that it was still under warranty. The part that had gone bad would cost several hundred dollars, so the reapirman suggested I contact my dishwasher brand repair people directly and get it fixed through the warranty. When I tried to pay him, he just smiled and said, "Don't worry about it." What a wonderful surprise! I would recommend them wholeheartedly!

They were punctual and pleasant. They were able to repair my dryer and charge me the same amount that they estimated it would cost.

Right from the beginning, I was impressed with their service! The woman who answered my phone call took my number and called me back right away, then scheduled me for the same day. The technician arrived early for the appointment and went right to work. He was very knowledgeable and gave me additional information about my dryer model.

After renewing our Angie's List subscription yesterday morning, we identified A&P as a highly rated, nearby repair center and we called them immediately. On the same day that we called, their technician was at our door at the strike of the hour that they said he would. He was extremely professional, polite, knowledgeable and informative. He did his work quickly, but thoroughly and made sure that we had all our questions answered. He definitely left with our feeling proud of ourselves for hiring A&P.

They were helpful in giving us suggestions on purchasing a new machine. They were professional and helpful. I would recommend them to others.

The service man arrived on time, as scheduled. He was careful and thorough.

During my first phone call, the customer service over the phone was excellent. A repair technician came right on time on the agreed day. He was very professional and friendly, and did the first assessment. A part had to be ordered, so we waited for a few weeks. During the wait, I have a couple of phone calls from A&P customer service updating me on the progress of the order. Then, the technician came on time to install the part. I didn't have any problems with my dishwasher since. I was very impressed by the service and will use this company in the future if a problem arises.

They were very courteous and prompt. I was not happy with the price, but I did not get any other comparisons, so I don't know if that was reasonable or not. They handled everything well. The guy who did the work was very professional and seemed to know what he was talking about.

They came out quickly and with all necessary parts. Job was completed in a timely manner.
