They were very clear as to what the problem was. They informed me of how I could avoid it in the future. They indicated how washing machines work and how long they last so that I could anticipate problems in the future. They also were very clear as to how they establish their fees and costs.
Description of Work: They came to our place and repaired our washing machine.

Description of Work: Our washing machine quit working. I called and explained the symptoms. She said the problem was probably one of two broken parts. She was right! I fixed the washer with a part that cost me $25.

They are really good. They are prompt. They try and come as soon as they can. They are always up front about pricing. They don't tell you somethings wrong when it's not. They fix it correctly. They do the job right. You don't have to call them back.

Whirlpool Duet dryer died and needed it fixed quickly. Called A & P and they sent over a repair person within 2 hours. The repairman quickly diagnosed the problem and found a burnt out power block that needed to be replaced due to improper installation by another company. Within 30 minutes the job was done and he even helped me clean up some hard to reach parts of the dryer. Great job all around.
Description of Work: Replaced power block and power cord

Very pleased with the work and repairs.
Description of Work: Refrigerator not freezing or cooling. Called on Sunday night and received return call by 7:30 am Monday 1/2 hour before their opening time. Punctual, polite and very professional. Explained problem and what he was doing all during the repair job. Explained the cost before beginning repair for my approval so I knew what the final cost would be. Also, had another problem with ice maker which he will have to return with parts. Made tentative appointment for next day (Tuesday) to make additional repairs. Offered price of return labor and parts for my approval. I got 10% off parts for using Angie's List. I will use this company again for any large appliance repair.

I am very pleased. The receptionist was very pleasant (as was the repair technician), the work was done for the price quoted, and the repairman was informative and helpful about a condition of the mixer that cannot be repaired at this time. He even carried the mixer (which is very heavy) from my car into the shop for repairs and then back to my car after it was fixed. I would recommend this small appliance repair service to anyone with no reservations. I only wish the shop were in my area of the city.
Description of Work: This was small appliance repair. I needed service for my KitchenAid stand mixer. A short was causing it to start even in the "off" position. I called and was told that there was a $20 fee to check the appliance and provide an estimate, and that I would then be called with a price and time table for necessary repairs. I took the mixer to A & P Appliance, was called later the same day with the cause of my problem and a fee quote to make repairs, and an estimated time of five days for completion of the work. The following afternoon, A & P Appliance called to say the repair had been made and I could pick up the mixer.

I thought I had a leak coming from my dishwasher. A & P Appliance came out to fix it - but told me that I would have to get a plumber. They also said I needed on new door seal on my dishwasher door. I did not understand at first why they could not fix the dishwasher - but after I called the office, it was explained to me that since the leak actually originated from the water pipes leading into the dishwasher - it required a plumber to fix. I paid for the original service visit $69.00 - and asked them to order the seal for the door. The seal took about a week to arrive. They did not charge me for a second visit, so I just paid $25 for the seal and $30 for labor. My dishwasher is working well and seems quieter with the new seal. I did have to have a plumber repair the leak in the water pipes. I was pleased with the service.
Description of Work: A & P Appliance checked out my dishwasher and ordered and installed a replacement door seal. (I had originally called them to fix a leak - but was told that by law, it required a plumber because it involved water pipes.) The replacement seal took about a week to arrive and was installed without a second "service-call" charge. I paid for the original service charge and for the replacement part and labor.

I believe his name was Mike, not 100% sure. He arrived on time, went right to work and completed the job efficiently and effectively. He checked for radiation leaks as a last item and found none. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the product. I would highly recommend the company. Doing business with them was a total pleasure.

The visit went well. The repairman was a little late, but he explained some technical issues he had had. It did end up costing me $70 for about 20 minutes of investigation work, but his time is worth money and now the problem is known. I'm satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: I had a washing machine that I thought had a very slow leak. About 2 cups of water was ending up under the washer on every load. I had checked supply and drain hoses, but didn't see a leak so I called A&P and scheduled them to come out and take a look. The repairman arrived and dismantled the washer and started a wash cycle. No water was appearing. He then switched to rinse and immediately noticed by the sound that the drain was backing up. The problem was that the drain would slowly overflow and the water would go back down the outside of the drain hose and end up dripping on the floor behind and under the washer. He said that drain issues like this were more common this time of year (fall) because of leaves and debris backing up drainage lines. He said that I should call a plumber to resolve it and not to let it go because it could cause big problems inside the house wall. In the meantime, running smaller loads would help.

Our washer developed a leak. Using a photograph and a description of the area where the leak occurred, the lady managing the store was able to identify the bad part and described how to install it. For eight bucks and a little bit of effort the problem was solved.

We had some problems with scheduling. They had some mix-ups. But after a couple weeks, we got that straightened out and got the repair person over to the house and he was very nice and courteous. He was quick, suggested long-term cost-saving repairs and did a good job. He was clean, too. I think they did a very good job.
Description of Work: The washer was not agitating or spinning the water out of the tub. The gentleman came to the house and replaced the part (a coupler) that needed to be replaced to fix the problem. While in there, he noticed that the water pump was leaking and suggested that, while not absolutely necessary, we might want to replace the pump at the same time. Water was leaking on the floor a little bit. We did this extra work.

When I picked up the needed part I was warned that, when I disconnected the old element, it was important to tape the wires to the back of the oven so they wouldn't pull out behind the unit because then I WOULD need help. Now I knew why the first repairman had had to pull the whole thing out of the wall! Simple instructions came with the part and the whole job took less than 15 minutes. Of course it definitely helped that I already knew how to take the oven door off.
Description of Work: This company didn't actually perform the WORK needed to repair the lower oven in a set of 2. However, when I called them to request a repairman to replace the burned-out element, they informed me that, if I preferred, I could buy the part from them and easily do the work myself. I was surprised since the upper oven's element went out years before, the company I called at that time DID send a repairman and charged me $147.95 for the service, a service I had to assist with because he said he had to pull out the entire unit and it was too heavy for him to handle alone!

I have had A & P repair appliances in my home before (refrigerator and dishwasher) and have been extremely pleased with their work. We ended up buying a replacement double wall-oven from them at a price that beat any of their competitors. They are wonderful to work with. Thank you.
Description of Work: We had a 37 yr old Westinghouse double oven that stopped working. I called for a repair. I spoke with Linda and she said it wouldn't be possible to get parts for an oven that model and age, so we didn't schedule an appointment. She gave very good advice on choosing a replacement oven.

The man did a great job. He kind of found the problem right away; that was nice. He was on time and did wonderful. He was maybe a little slightly expensive. I do not have my paperwork, but, I think it was around $100 or so. I thought it was a little high. Other than that, he did fine and everything is working fine for me now.

I contacted A & P Appliance to schedule the repair work after waiting more than a month to receive the repair parts from Maytag. I was pleased by how knowledgeable and helpful the woman was who answered the telephone at A & P Appliance. The work was scheduled within 48 hours of my call. Mike arrived within 20 minutes of the scheduled appointment. He had a helper, who he was training. They worked for an hour, tested the dishwasher, cleaned up after themselves, and removed the shipping box and all spare parts. There was no charge for the in-home repair service.
Description of Work: Repair of a Maytag dishwasher voluntarily recalled due to fire hazard. Appliances affected were sold from July 1997 through June 2001. On certain models the liquid rinse-aid dispenser could potentially leak and come into contact with the internal wiring posing a possible fire hazard.

Chal came early, was professional yet personable. He searched for the problem, but was unable to find anything wrong except that it was unbalanced, and possibly the drum was defective. Their professionalism over the phone and onsite was great. We used Angie's List to call all the vendors and they were first available. We were pleased with the service and would definitely call them again and again. On the other hand, we would also have Sears come out for the same issue. They said to jiggle a part and it would come back on and that if we wanted to have it replaced it isn't a common part, and they would have to order it for installation a week to 10 days later.

The work that A&P Appliance did was great! They came out on time and correctly diagnosed the problem and gave us a bid on the work to be done. A part needed to be ordered which they did and Mike set a second appointment to do the installation which he was on time for once again. The final price came in under the estimate since we had followed Mikes suggestion to turn the refrigerator off earlier in the day to allow it to warm, making it easier for him to work on.
Description of Work: Mike replaced a foam or insulating block between the freezer and refrigerator that had become saturated with water and was dripping into the refrigerator. It is an Amana and apparently this is a common problem with this unit after it is out of warranty. The manufacturer when contacted would not stand behind the product even though they admit that they are aware of the design defect.
