drywall, remodeling, home remodeling
 + 1 moreWe got three or four bids, and even before we got the prices, we had decided to go with this company. When Jon came out to talk with us he seemed to understand exactly what we were looking for. His suggestions were great! He is very clear and forthright. He told us how long the job would take and what his availability was. Their bid was very competitive. When we called to say we were accepting their bid, Jon came out promptly, and had a written contract that contained exactly what we had told him we wanted done. They started within a couple of weeks. Jon was wonderful to work with, and It was very comfortable to have them in the house with us, and they were careful about putting up barriers so the drywall dust did not get into other areas of the house. I will call them first if I need other work done.
Description of Work: Jon and one other person removed water-damaged ceiling and insulation materials, and put in new insulation and drywall. At our request they also removed wall paneling and replaced it with drywall. They installed a new sink cabinet and toilet.

Description of Work: we received estimates to remove a current concrete slab and pour a new concrete patio, and estimates to remodel the front door and foyer. The work has not been performed yet due to lack of funds. The estimator was very punctual and helpful.

concrete repair
 + -1 moreThey started on the date specified and completed by the date agreed to. The actual price was about $300 less than the proposal due to using less concrete than originally planned. We are very please with the result and have received many compliments concerning the curb appeal it adds to our home. We have been working with HandI for over a year in the eventual design of the front approach. Jon Isacson and Cliff Howry are consummate professionals in the area of concrete design, use, and construction, and are especially good at the artistic side of the work. I believe you will be very satisfied with their work and that it will be better than you expected and at the price expected or below.
Description of Work: HandI prepared a desing for a completely new front walkway from the driveway to the front door and from the street to the front door.

basement waterproofing, animal removal
 + 0 moreJon, a principal in the company, arrived slightly before the 9 A.M appointment time, even though he was coming all the way from Albany. He was very, very friendly, open and honest seeming in his manner and work. He went right to work, worked for 2-3 hours while I was gone, and was finishing up when I returned home. He showed me and explained what he had done, and carefully went over the bill. He did everything he said as contracted, the price was in line with the contract, and he was very clean in the work. I am very pleased with the work, but unfortunately his distant location makes it unlikely I would hire him again. However, I highly recommend his work for anyone living in the Albany area. I chose him on a personal recommendation and didn't realize at the time that he would be coming from Albany.
Description of Work: Jon came out promptly, from Albany, to do major clean-up of my crawl space. He removed a dead raccoon, cleaned out years of debris from earlier construction work, lightly swept the existing 6-mil moisture barrier, covered any holes or tears in it, and added a second layer of 6-mil covering perpendicular to the original layer. Finally, he examined and reconnected a heating duct that, presumably, the raccoon had damaged. The work took about 2-3 hours and was done while I was away. Jon started at 9 in the morning and was just finishing up when I returned about 11:30. The cost included a $185 base charge (personal protective equipment, 6-mil bags for debris and animal carcass, travel, and debris disposal),labor (4 hour minimum) at $50/hour, additional materials (6 mil sheet plastic in my case), and a 16% profit factor.
