We thought it went well until right after moving in. He was recommended by Carol Combs, Keller Williams Green Meadow. We had terrible chalky dust residue in the house that was coming through the floor vents no matter how much we cleaned. After lots of troubleshooting on our own (the house was left disgustingly dirty by the previous owners), we discovered the problem was the furnace had major rust damage. The chimney flue was covered in creosote and had no chimney cap. The dryer duct was packed packed full of lint. A couple months after buying the house we had to drop a few thousand dollars for duct cleaning, a chimney sweep and major repairs to the furnace. Trey told us he is not required to open the furnace panel as part of the inspection and that someone licensed in HVAC would need to be hired to disassemble the furnace. It didn't need to be disassembled to see the rust. All he had to do was open the panel on the front of the furnace...6 screws!! We made phone calls to other home inspectors in Oklahoma and ASHI and these items ARE to be inspected as part of a STANDARD home inspection. Don't let him fool you into thinking you have to pay more for a detailed inspection for these things to be checked because you don't. Why wouldn't a furnace need to be inspected prior to purchasing a home? It is one of the main components of a home and probably one of the (if not the most) expensive repairs. He had the gall to turn the blame on us that we waited so long that it must have come from something in the bathroom that was completely unrelated to the furnace. We trusted he would do a thorough inspection as he was recommended by a realtor we trusted. If you hire him for a home inspection, insist he open the furnace panel and if he won't, walk away from the deal! I suspect it was known we would have if the issue was uncovered during the inspection. Better yet, avoid the headache and don't hire him at all!

Trey McFall showed up on time and explained to my wife and I exactly what Services he would be able to perform. He was very thorough and professional. After the inspection, he emailed us an 18 page typed report explaining our property in detail. I highly recommend Mr. McFall for anyone wishing to purchase a home and wanting to get it checked out.
