Description of Work: This person was told to go ahead and start excavation work to prepare for a concrete pour on my property. He brought out a severely overweight person to start digging. The fellow was on my property for approximately one hour then left. After over a week and several phone calls with no response I finally received a call back from Mr. Lumley and he said he was bringing out two other workers. They came out and worked for approximately 2 hours then left. The next day one of these men came out and worked 4 hours. Several days later after more calls to Mr. Lumley with no response, I get an answer and he said he is bringing out another worker who worked for 4 hours. The next day another fellow came out and they both worked for 6 hours. Two days later they both came back and worked for 2 hours and said they had to leave because Mr. Lumley could only pay them for two hours... And he still owed them for the previos time they had been here on my property. During this time a friend told me Mr. Lumley was advertising on Craigs list for workers to do the dirt work at my property and stated that pay was 10 dollars per hour paid daily. When the two men complained they had not been paid this upset me. Also during the time workers were coming to my property, Mr. Lumley was only present for about an hour leaving these men unsupervised and never provided to me a proof of any liability insurance to cover them while working on my property. I became very concerned regarding his professionalism towards me or his workers... And his ability to understand the special needs on my land especially around the new building for stem walls and the slabs which were needed to be formed in such a way as to protect the new building from the watershed problem on my land. I tried contacting him several times again with no response. I then wrote to him an email and told him I no longer wanted his service as I did not trust his ability to do the work properly in a professional and timely manor. I told him I would pay the amount he was out of pocket for the 29 hours at 10 dollars an hour he had paid out minus the 80 dollars I had paid to the last two men when he didln't pay them as promised and to please send me a bill for this amount. Another reason for being concerned is during the time the men worked here they had to use my shovels and wheel barrow as his wheel barrow was broken and he did not supply adequate tools for them to do the job. I heard nothing from Mr. Lumley until 10 days later when he showed up unannounced on my property demanding payment of 1500 dollars. I was shocked and asked him For what? I made sure he left with his broken wheel barrow and the few other tools he had brought here. On the 21st of sept. I was summoned to small claims court by Mr. Lumley for the amount of 2500 dollars. I am appearing in court on the 24th of Oct. we shall see what the judge has to say about all this on Wednesday.

Description of Work: Driveway extension plus parking pad. 2900 square feet of concrete.homeowner paid for concrete as materials were delivered.
