First of all Poor communication: Day one he shows up, instead of working where he could he wanted to start on an area that was not ready because we understood he would be texturing the first day. Instead he and his crew decided they wanted to lay the flooring in the den. They went at pulling the baseboard, broke the base boards so that added another expense and time because I had to spend two nights getting the stain just right for the new flooring. Took them ALL day to lay one room of flooring, did not follow instructions pertaining to two removable faux built in bookshelves we have, husband had to correct their work so we could roll them out of their cubbies. Texturing was nothing special, pretty inconsistent in my opinion, he didn't want to bring in his machine so he used the spray on can stuff in certain places he had patched which if you are looking for it you definitely can tell a difference. By our request we did not have them out for three days because we were staining the baseboards and he was still coming out once a day to work on his patches. They came out on day 5 to lay the baseboards in the den. Worst baseboard job I've ever seen. I'm a basic do it yourselfer, the head guy let a 19 year old do the work, while he oversaw. Guess how they joined two pieces of trim? End to End... who does that? The 19 year old didn't even measure right (we had a limited amount of trim), he left a 1-2 inch gap between to pieces and put in (with the help of the "head guy") a patch - three ends right after each other nailed in. The other wall that had two pieces joined, you could probably fit about 10 playing cards between them. Plus the head guy knowing fully that those faux built ins have to be able to roll out put the base boards up to it so it was jammed in. After giving them some cash they took off, when they returned he dropped the 19 year old off to lay padding for the laminate floor. I politely asked the kid if he had ever done trim work before because this is not how you join pieces. Explained to him how it worked... he tried to fix it but didn't do the best of job. He proceeded to lay padding, how do you mess that up? He did, he duct tapped it to the concrete floor in a patch work mode. Did not run the moisture barrier up the wall 3 inches like you are supposed to with concrete, actually didn't even put the moisture barrier against the concrete on a few pieces. WAISTED a full roll of our padding. Later that afternoon the head guy tried to pour leveling compound, what a mess, he waited too long to pour it so he basically tried to put it on the floor like you do grout, it didn't level anything, actually made a hill in one area. Husband fixed that this weekend. While the contractor was mixing that stuff he spilt some on my front patio (why he was mixing it right there is beyond me) he did not clean it up and when he realized he had dropped/spilt some he went to wipe it off and broke a beautiful stepping stone I've had for years. He did not tell me about it, he threw it in my flower bed behind a bush so I wouldn't see it. This group is unprofessional and messy. His texturing job, he tapped everything off yet I there was mud EVERYWHERE on my wood. I had to spend a full evening washing my wood trim, cigarette butts everywhere, didn't even clean up the boxes of floor they opened, plastic and cardboard everywhere. Outside they left wood everywhere right infront of my home. He wanted more money than we had paid him for what he had already done, my husband worked out the numbers and felt that we had already given him plenty for what he had done since he was not going to finish the job. He then went onto threaten my family harm and insult our appearance (chuckle). He then told us that those that worked for him would be upset cause they are the ones we are hurting by not paying him more money and that he doesn't know what they might do to us. Needless to say this guy is not worth the hassle. Nothing about his work is professional. Nothing.
Description of Work: He was hired to texture one family room and a hallway, to lay laminate flooring (was already purchased by us) in den and family room and hallway, he was also hired to fix several drywall cracks throughout the family room. After he was hired he was asked to do a patch where we took out a half wall, so he had to close it up and mud and texture, and to level the floor in the hallway before laying the flooring.
