Description of Work: This is my complaint letter to The Best Garden: I am in receipt of your July 16 invoice #1621 mailed Jul 23. In this invoice you are seeking an additional $26.40 for 22 hrs additional labor x 2 guys = 44 hrs at 60/hr. You are also seeking an $80 pre-agreed fee for trash pickup which was supposed to be collected at the time the work was performed. I hereby protest the additional amounts and deem the account paid in full for the minimal work accomplished using poor work practices. Please also not that your invoice is dated 1 day BEFORE the work was actually performed on 7/17. Here are my reasons: 1.On Monday, Jul 13 owner, Israel Herrara, and another individual named Antonio visited to give quotes on sod laying, rock landscaping walls and tree timing. We showed them 4 or 5 trees that needed trimming, which they priced in dollars (not hours) and added up on a slip of paper: the first tree costing $320 and the rest I cannot remember precisely but probably costing about $100-200 more each. When I discussed the Angie's list coupon for four hours for $199 Antonio indicated that The Best Garden could/would do all the work within the 4 hours. You also indicated there would be an additional cost of $80 to pick up the trash and haul it off. 2.So I went on line and paid for the coupon and handed Antonio the receipt to prove payment. None of the tree limb root branches were more than 25 ft off the ground (per your coupon restriction) but most are over 15 ft off the ground. We agreed the work would be done on Friday, Jul 17 and that Antonio would be on site to present us with samples of the stone walls and that he would purchase my professional Echo Power Pole Saw that I can no longer use because of pacemaker surgery. 3.When your crew arrived in a box truck (with no debris trailer) they came without any climbing ropes, safety harnesses, goggles or a wood chipper. They only brought a hand pole saw, a plain rope and a machete as well as a 12"" one-handed chain saw and a multi-jointed ladder (used by them only as a step ladder) which clearly could not reach high enough to trim the trees that you had agreed to do. Neither Israel nor Antonio showed up and I never saw their work order indicating scope of work 4.During the first 45 minutes of work, only one person was gainfully employed cutting numerous small branches (2 to 3"" dia.) off the main limb of the $320 trimming effort which we indicated to do first. The other person crudely held the ladder (until the lead man sat on my pergola to finish the trimming) and sometimes helped pull down some branches and stack them on the ground. I never say him make any cuts. 5.The second man apparently spoke no English and the lead man may have had some English but communication was very difficult and usually done with hand signals. 6.What should have been a one-man 10-15 minute job with a power pole saw or chain saw (while suspended from a climbing harness) took 45 minutes x two men. Most of the unnecessary small branch cuts could have been made while the large branch was on the ground. 7.Then the lead man proceeded to position himself in the crook of the un-cut main branch while the helper held a rope tied to the branch below the cut (which did not serve any purpose). Rather than make one cut at the crook and drop the entire branch on the clear ground area below, he proceeded reach out dangerously to make several cuts of firewood length and still had 4 or 5 foot left of the branch to cut before I told him to stop and leave the rest of the branch attached. I was frustrated that he was wasting time and accomplishing very little and rapidly using up my 4 hours. 8.I then asked him to leave the rest and I would clean it up and for him to move on to the other trees (since half the time had already been consumed). Rather than have him do the same series of slow cuts on the next tree and because he did not have the capability to reach up and trim the branches that I had shown to Israel and Antonio, I asked if he had the capability of cutting down the whole tree. He said yes he could. 9.The next thing we know, he is calling someone on the phone (probably the office to talk about the tree cutting). We sort of expected that one of the owners would show up and demand more money. 10.But now the lead man pulls out a machete and proceeds to cut up the small branches of the first tree branch and ignores any attempts I make to get him to move to other trees. I cannot see the second man working but I assume he is dragging branches to the front (I would have dragged a large branch to the front of the house and then chopped it up-rather than have to gather and move a bunch of much smaller pieces.) 11.Now I am so angry that I just go in the house and give up trying to communicate to non-English speakers. We hear them using a yard blower and later, suddenly the truck pulls away without anybody having us approve the work done or any communication why only part of the 8"" branch that we needed removed was cut during a 4 hour period, or now 4.44 hours as you have billed. 12.I signed no agreement for any extra hours before the work nor as the men were leaving and I am therefore not responsible for those charges. Extra time CAN BE PURCHASED. I also believe that much of the 2.44 hrs they spent (using their additional .44 on top of my calculations) on trash pickup was included in the $80 ""trash pickup"" extra charge. And even if it was not, I feel cheated by the little work actually accomplished and protest paying more good money after bad. 13.I also note that the crew did not treat the tree wounds on the remaining branches to prevent insect penetration. 14.I also do not believe that your company has acted in good faith nor fairly represented the work they were going to do. I have hired ""Professional"" tree trimmers (who climb trees to perform the work) and I am familiar with their equipment, safety equipment and the speed at which they make cuts and do cleanup. Your crew did not use reasonable practices and at a $50/hour discounted rate, I expected more than just two minimum wage laborers with no professional tree-trimming equipment. I am now stuck with having to hire another crew to perform the work that your company verbally contracted to perform. 15.If you disagree with my assessment, please let me know so that we can work it out either in Small Claims Court or thru Angie's List Dispute resolution."" The Best Garden agreed to my request and cancelled the additional billing but then Angie's list cancelled my F rating and wanted me to give an A or B rating since the issue was resolved ""satisfactorily."" I still believe that the Best Garden misrepresented themselves as a tree trimming company and did not do the work they verbally contracted for."

Description of Work: I'm extremely pleased with the skills and work ethic of the gardeners from The Best Garden Inc., in Tulsa. Each member if the crew worked tirelessly in the heat to remove every weed, including poison ivy, and errant shoot in the front yard and back yard. I wish I had taken before & after pictures. The difference is incredible. My yard is beautiful. I will use The Best Garden Inc. again!

Description of Work: The provider kept giving me dates and times when he would do the work but he never was there when he said he would be. We made at least three appointments and he missed all three.

Description of Work: Nothing. I paid for the service and we spoke twice by email. Scheduling within forty-eight hours as their site promises? It didn't happen because they didn't call back until two weeks later. By that time. I had already contracted with another service who did a great job. I already contacted Angie's List about the lack of communication and the lack of services.

Description of Work: I used The Best Garden. He went and got the plants that I wanted and took care of planting what I wanted in one day.

Description of Work: I bought the $249 deal for 12 hours of landscaping work. Pulled some weeds and filled in a long trench with dirt

Description of Work: Nothing, I called last Monday to have him weed out around my bushes and to plant a new bush. He said he would complete on Saturday and did not, he did not even call me to inform me he could not complete the task. Today I told him I would find another landscaper, very unprofessional.

Description of Work: The provider did not honor the Big Deal that I purchased. The deal was $99 for four hours of yard work with debris disposal. However, they wanted to charge me and extra $30 for the debris disposal.

Description of Work: I contacted them asking them to mow and grass pick up, remove 1 branch, pick up leaves on side of house and trim bushes. They came on June 1st to do the job.

Description of Work: Mow and edge, and blow the flat surfaces. Previously had mulched and cleaned out my front beds and trimmed trees. Did an excellent job for several hundred dollars.
