I'm not even sure where to start on this disaster.... 1. The crew would leave the trailer full of landscape plants and trees just sitting in the street for days in the August heat in Oklahoma and then attempt to use those plants in the landscape when they were dying from lack of water. We actually took the hose out and tried to keep the plants watered ourselves. 2. The irrigation system had issues from the time it was installed. I honestly believe they do not know how to install and maintenance an irrigation system. 3. They would tell us they would be there to work on a certain date/time and wouldn't show up. 4. Mom wanted to pick out the landscape lighting and when Randy gave her the catalogue to pick her lighting, he told her it was outdated and he put in lighting without allowing her to chose the design. He had mentioned to her in a prior discussion about some lights he had in his garage (possibly left over from an old project) - regardless, she didn't get to pick the lighting she wanted. 5. Worst of all, Randy lied about the cost of this project. During the initial consultation we discussed all aspects of what we wanted to accomplish and Randy quoted us a cost and we all agreed that it was a fair, reasonable expense. When he began billing my mother the invoicing came to almost 3 times the cost he stated at inception. He said that his initial quote didn't cover the cost of the plant materials. Here we were into the middle of a project, the yard is torn up front to back, stones lying everywhere, dirt piled up in the driveway...and now he wants twice the amount of money! Needless to say we felt angry, ashamed for having trusted this man, and cornered. I hired this man without a contract - shame on me for doing that and certainly lesson learned, but this man is certainly a con artist. Randy does not return calls and promised to come out in the Spring of 2013 to replace the plants that died but did not show up. Ultimately, our experience with Robertson Tree/Landscaping was one of the worst experiences ever.
Description of Work: We hired Randy's company to landscape the front and back yard of my mother's home. This included creating flower beds, installing irrigation, lighting, and landscaping. All services were discussed and agreed to during the initial consultation - along with the price quote.

Within a few days all of the shrubs were delivered. A pile of sand and a pile of gravel were delivered to the street in front of our home. Two weeks later a worker arrived to begin taking up the brick on the front sidewalk. The used bricks were placed on the lawn along with the shrubs and some materials. These materials would have killed the grass if left for long - we removed them. On April 30th two men came to our home and loaded trash on a large trailer that had been left in front of our home for over one week already. On May 4th the contractor arrived to remove the trailer and said he would return later that day to set the forms for pouring concrete on the following day. Nothing was done by May 7th so we wrote a letter reminding the contractor of the wedding on May 15th. Nothing happened so the wedding party was moved to another home and all our work in preparation was wasted. On May 17th the contractor came with a loaded truck and said he would return later that day with trees and begin work on the limestone to be placed around the garden. Again nothing happened. We called frequently and wrote several letters to the contractor expressing our concern and finally learned that the mailing address on his quotation was invalid. The work was finally completed on June 11. The quality of work was reasonable but poor compared with other brick work done at our home. All plants were warranted for 12 months and one tree and one shrub died before winter. The contractor came and removed the dead plants and agreed to replace them in spring. During spring break week he promised to come the following week with the plants. We called several more times and finally filed a complaint with the BBB. The contractor failed to respond to the BBB letters. We learned at this time that he has an F rating by the BBB, which, if we had checked before contracting, would have saved us a lot of inconvenience. It would have also saved the 6 week long mess in the street in front of our home that our neighbors had to look at. The letters we wrote and the BBB communications are on file at our home.
Description of Work: We contracted with Robertson on April 10 to remove a brick walk set in sand, pour a concrete base and reset the brick with mortar. The company was to prepare a modest sized planting area and plant 7 shrubs and 3 trees. One garden area was to be rimed in small flat limestone about 5 inches high which were to be set in mortar. The contractor promised to "get right on it" so the work would be completed promptly in anticipation of a wedding party at our home on May 15th. In addition one tree was to be removed and one stump ground. A $2500 deposit was paid at the signing of the contract to cover the purchase of shrubs, trees and materials.
