Rick Schalliol Painting & Tree Service

Per our agreement, I paid $2,000 at the beginning of the job and was to pay the remaining $2,000 upon completion. My credit card was charged for the "final" $2,000 a day after the work was begun. The crew stopped showing up four days into the project and my calls went unanswered. (This is a small, 1-1/2 story house.) After three weeks of unanswered calls, trim that needed a second coat, an out-building half painted, latches, hinges and light fixtures painted over, paint splotches on doors and windows, and empty water bottles, paint cans, empty caulking containers, cigarette butts and broken glass littering my lawn, I submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau asking for a $2,000 refund, the final half of our agreed upon price when the job was complete. Two weeks later I received a response through the BBB offering to refund $500. I countered with $1,000 refund figuring that something back was better than nothing the owner agreed to refund $1,000 by cashiers check by September 17. On September 23, the owner finally showed up at my door with the check and simply said, "Sorry it didn't work out." Run for you life if this company ever solicites your business. (I found them on the Better Homes and Gardens referral service!!!!) One final note - the caulking that was to be replaced? Didn't happen. I heard the job "supervisor" tell a worker to NOT replace it. I assumed a misunderstanding and when I approached the supervisor, he denied he made the statement, threw his paint brush on the ground and stormed off the job, ever to be seen again!

Repairs were either done incorrectly or not at all. When I reported them to the Better Business Bureau they said I had called them at all hours and cussed them out and that is totally not the truth. We paid a premium price for a lousy job. I did back over a partial gallon of paint that they left in the drive after telling me it was ok to back out.
