They came out and said there was nothing wrong with the outlets. He then tried to get me to replace my breaker box, i was charged for $147 dollars plus tax. I told them the outlets were not fixed and the argued and threatened to put a lean on my property. I had to call another electric company to get them fixed. Electric City came out and fixed three outlets and told me I did not need to replace my breaker box. They even checked the wires in the attic. They also charge less.

They moved the switch and provided a cover plate, with almost no mess involved. Then, they not only tightened up the parts on the ridiculously high ceiling fan that the installers left loose, they cleaned the blades as well. All done under time estimate and for quoted price.
Description of Work: Needed a double-switch moved to another wall, as well as help fixing and balancing a ceiling fan.

Not well at all. The company would never show up when they were supposed to and then it would be a different employee each time. The employees would tell us how poorly the company was run and that they didn't even know what they were supposed to do. They're incompetence held our remodel up terribly.

2 electricians showed up but they didn't have a part so they said they would be back in a couple of hours. They did return & completed the task, there was some minor adjustments that needed to be made when they were finished, but tested the panel by plugging in the generator work completed.
Description of Work: Completed an installation of an interlock on our electrical panel for a generator to be plugged in.

Week of July 1st: Matt came and provided an estimate. He described cutting a hole in the bedroom closet to run wiring. He said that a plate would cover the hole. He warned that plaster walls sometimes chip beyond the plate. I said that would be ok, we would patch the chipped plaster as needed. He described where the switch plates would be placed, and again said that there could be chipping beyond the holes cut for the plates. July 19th. Matt's crew came to do the work. Matt was not present. John called to inform me that Matt's description of process would not work as planned. I came home and John showed me an area outside the closet that would be needed for access instead. He said that a plate would cover the hole, but warned that some plaster could chip beyond the plate. We agreed to go forward with the job, understanding that the plaster could chip away beyond plate covering the hole for the wiring. July 25: The guys came back to do the work. One new worker (Andre) and one who was here previously came at 8 in the morning, and I left to go to work. I received no phone calls from them that day, except when I got a call around noon informing me that the work was complete. I came home to review the work and pay the invoice. I was shocked to discover the level of damage. There was no plate over the access hole in the bedroom. Instead, I found a hole 16""X9" uncovered. Above that, toward the ceiling there is another 1.5" hole, where Andre said the drill went off track when they were drilling from the attic. Andre said it went off track again resulting in another 1.5" hole in the stair well wall, as well. The hole cut for the plate was over cut by 1"X4". Andre said that they were unable to run the wiring to the originally cut location, so had to shift it to the left. The hole cut in the ceiling was also over cut by about 1/2". Andre said there was a beam that was in the way. When I asked about repairing the damage, Andre told me that the holes would not be repaired. He said that the 16"X9" hole in the bedroom was unanticipated, but needed for access and that the other damage was also unanticipated and unavoidable. When I said that the resulting damage is very different than the potential damage described by both Matt and John, Andre explained that that is why John did not come back, that he knew the damage would be more than what he had described. Matt called Andre as we were discussing this. Andre handed me the phone and I told Matt that I was very dissatisfied and would need for the damage to be repaired. Matt said that he would come over because he was in the area. He arrived a few minutes later. I expressed concern that the damage was not as described by him and John. Their assessment was related to plaster walls and their propensity for chipping. Our decision to go forward with the job was based on that assessment. Matt said that the damage was unfortunate, but part of the risk of working on old homes. Since this risk was not explained to us, I requested that he repair the damage. He said that he would not be able to do that. He continued to describe the challenges of the job. Understanding that I would not be able to convince him otherwise, I wrote him a check so that he would leave. July 26: After consulting with my husband, a stop payment was placed on the check. Later that same day, I called Matt to let him know that I stopped payment on the check because I did not consider the job complete with the level of damage left behind. He became angry and said that he would not absorb the cost of that job. July 27: I wrote Matt an email requesting that he file a claim with his insurance to repair the damage done to our home.
Description of Work: They ran wiring and installed a chandelier in our stairwell.

Response from Millers Superior Electric
Plaster walls are very unpredictable. You never know how they will react to getting drilled on, cut on, or worked on in general. Millers Superior Electric was sure to explain to the homeowners on three different occasions that it would be highly probable that there would be some damage. We ran wire from the attic to the second floor to the landing of the stairwell on the first floor. It was explained to the homeowner that there was no way of telling what obstacles would be in the way due to the face that this home was built in 1915. I Matt (owner) explained to the homeowner that we might have to groove the whole wall down in order to get to the first floor instead we were able to cut one bigger hole 16x9 in order to get our drill in there in order to avoid grooving the whole wall all the way down. You cannot tell where the beams are in a plaster home because of the wood lathe (backing), we cannot tell how much excess mortar is in the walls as well. This was explained three separate times to the homeowner by three different certified electricians. We were originally going to come down in the back of the closet and she was fine with us grooving the wall out to accomplish her project needs. I measured where the drop was going to be at the time of the original estimate, second trip my electrician explained this to her that we would have to come down in the bedroom wall instead of the closet. After a lengthy conversation with her husband they decided to proceed with the project and called back for the third time which was on July 25, 2013 and the project was completed four hours later. The homeowner knew the risks that were associated with completing this project, if she would have asked me to give her a turnkey price on patching and repairing and repainting I would have included another $500-$600 onto this project, but she didn’t. I told her we would not be responsible for any damages done to the plaster, therefore no allowance was made. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to pay for all damages that was made perfectly clear to up front unless she asked me to include that in our price (subcontractors).
