Handyman Extraordinaire

I contacted handyman Extraordinaire as a prior customer for them to come out and estimate my repairs. The first time I called they told me that they would have a repairman call me back. A week later I had yet to receive a call, so I called the office once again. I spoke to the same office staff member who apologized to me for no one calling me back and told me that she would have someone call me shortly. I received a call back from her with the name of the repairman I should be expecting to call me. Shortly thereafter, I received a call from him and we setup a time to meet. The day of the estimate, he was at my home promptly and appeared well groomed and polite. I showed him the needed repairs and he would email them to me. I have yet to receive that email and it has been about a week and a half later. I decided to go with another company to do the repairs and wanted to express in this review how disappointed I was with how I was forgotten by them.

No response at all. If he could not do the tasks or did not have time I would understand, but I wasted time waiting on him when I could have been using someone else.

Schedule an appointment to see the job. Gave. E an estimate and the did the job right then. Then he cleaned up after the job was completed. Quick and easy and very reasonable

Mr. Mike Soetaert was suppose to have an estimate to me within 48 hrs. This was on 9/20/2015. I waited until 9/24/2015 and sent him a message through Angie's list. He called me and said he purchased a new phone and something had happened that I had not received my estimate! So I gave my email address to him again and sent him a message to his personal email address that evening since I haven't received the estimate. I never did hear from him through Angie's list or a personal email. I do not do business with anyone that doesn't keep their word!!!!!!

I can't speak for all of the contractors that work for Handyman Extraordinaire, but I would not recommend Money and David who were sent out to do a full kitchen remodel for me. Things seemed to be going smooth at first, but the work was mediocre and as soon as I paid them any money, they became less and less responsive. This was the first time I have worked with general contractors and I did not have a good experience. First, when they laid the tile, they did not tile all the way back to the wall, so once the dishwasher was installed, it was not level and was moving out of place. I asked them if they should tile all the way to the wall, but they said it's not necessary. Now having spoken with other professionals, I have been told that the tile should always go all the way to the wall. The first red flag came up when I noticed after coming home one day that my water hose in the front yard had been cut off because a nozzle was stuck on it and they needed to use the hose. They didn't tell me they had cut off the nozzle, I was the one that discovered the cut hose and told them they needed to buy me a new one. Well, I got the new hose, but didn't realize until later on that they had put the expense of the new hose on my personal Home Depot account. Very frustrating. Once most of the work was done in the kitchen, there were just a few small details that needed to be wrapped up, so I went ahead and paid them for all of the work. That was a big mistake because once I paid them, they just stopped returning my messages. I could only get them to come by when I let them know my new dishwasher was clogged after using it for the first time, which was caused by them not installing it properly. I could tell that they were annoyed with me (probably because I texted them multiple times every day to see when everything was going to get finished) and they hardly acknowledge me when they came by this last time. They started to leave without letting me know, and I practically had to chase them down to get them to talk to me before they left. They were incredibly rude and had no intention of finishing what was left (which included framing in a window, leveling a wall that was added in, finishing trim work, securing the dishwasher...again, and removing all of the trash and debris from my garage). I ended up paying someone else to finish up their work and to go back and fix several things they did incorrectly. They also did poor electrical work and I have had issues with some of the new outlets they installed. Also, when they were ready to get a check from me, they gave me a number that was well over a couple thousand dollars more than the original quote. Luckily I had the original written estimate, and they said they did their math wrong when they did the estimate and it was "my lucky day" to be getting such a price. Seemed sketchy to me.

The door was installed. The caulking was not good as the next rain showed. The door leaked like a sieve. I went out after the rains quit and re-caulked around the door. The door, when sliding closed, bumps the outside frame and the outside handle is now cracked.

Update: They eventually called and advised there had been some unusual circumstances. However, they could have had the company call me so that I wouldn't have wasted my time. Why should I have to call and nag the company...

Two gentleman came out on a Thursday and walked through the repairs we needed done. They were very friendly and answered my questions about the repairs. I was told they would contact me with an estimate. Monday, I contacted the company to inquire about the estimate. I was told I would have it by the end of the day Monday or first thing Tuesday. By Friday, I still had not received an estimate so I sent another email inquiring about the estimate and as of today have received no response.

Mike gave us an estimate of $400 in January. I special-ordered a fiberglass door from Home Depot, and it arrived mid-February. He finally finished the work yesterday. It looks good and seems properly installed. Mike was always polite, never rude, always friendly and optimistic. He charged $60 over the estimate, which hadn't included a new threshold. The workers for this company are independents. In Mike's case, he was simply overwhelmed with jobs and is working 7 days/week, 12-14 hours a day. He wants to do well, but instead he ends up over-promising and under-delivering. For example, if spring hinges are that hard to install, look into it first before you say "no problem". Everything seemed like a problem when it came time to actually do it. Punctuality was non-existent. I wasn't comfortable pushing the issue, given the hours he's putting in. I haven't used other handyman services, and this may be how they all are.

Jimmie showed up right on time, and I am so glad we called them. He did a fantastic job! When he encountered some unexpected issues with our ceiling, he knew exactly what to do. He saved me a very long weekend!

This is the second time I have used this service different handyman each time. I live outside of Tulsa. This handyman worked here for three of four half days in order to meet other customer needs. We discussed this and I agreed. Estimate was a bit less than final payment due to cost of supplies. Receipts were provided.

Estimates and all repairs performed by Steve Gates. Steve came and looked at all things needing repairs, gave his opinion on issues related to each, and then got back to us within 24 hours with an estimate. He even recommended we get a second opinion and estimate. Steve explained that some repairs might take longer due to faucet supply line and valve corrosion (it did), but Steve's estimate stayed the same despite additional labor time. He even came back a second day at the time promised to finish the job. While we had already bought some materials for certain jobs based on style, Steve bought other parts only he'd know what to buy (related to faucet and toilet repairs). Bottom line...it couldn't have gone better. Steve was professional, communicative, and followed through on every promise he made. We'll be calling Steve in the future.

Hey sent out a guy named Jody. He spent an hour going through my house telling me everything that he can do, which was a huge waste of my time. They said that they had to ?hold on to? my credit card number because I was out of town. Then we agreed that he would do it and the night before they needed to do the work, he texted me at 9pm and said ?you don?t trust me. You don?t trust my company so I don?t think I should work for you.?

The provider was courteous until I gave them my address and zip code, and then I was told that they would not have anyone available for the service I wanted and should try someone else.

We are very pleased with the work. Quality was exceptional and the work was done timely.

He did a really good job. It took as long as he said it would. They worked and his price stuck right where he said it would be. He knew what he was doing and he did a good job. The price was a little more than what I thought it would be but he stuck to what he quoted me as an estimate. His responsiveness was very good. He was prompt and he was here when he said he would be. Everything they said they would do, they did. He was professional and if I asked questions, he didn't treat me like I was some dumb housewife.

I contacted them for a estimate to repair some water damage. A lady called me to schedule a guy to come out and look at the job and give a estimate. She states that the guy would come by after 5. I never received a call and no one ever came by. The next day I got a call from Mike with an excuse and he said looking from the pictures there appears to be mold (I sent the pictures to what I assume was the owner by the way she was talking and she didn't express any concerns) he said it looks like I would need to replace the whole wall, I told him that was the plan. Then he said it was something he couldn't do that I would need to call a general contractor. If they couldn't do the job I don't understand why they would waste my time. I had another handyman come out and he said it's not that bad and that he would be able to take care of it no problem. This company was unprofessional.

The representative of Handyman Extraordinaire Mr. Mike U. came and checked out a problem with the attic ladder, kitchen water sprayer and door latch. He thoroughly checked it and then gave us an estimate for doing the work and even set up a scheduled work day. Then he called 2 days earlier and asked if it would be feasible to perform the work earlier. To which of course we said yes. He then proceeded to perform the work to our satisfaction and even if the work was more difficult he did it in a very good time frame. The company should congratulate Mr. Mike U., since he he held them to a very high standard. I would recommend anyone wanting a good handyman to call them and ask for Mike. I will be calling him back to do some more work.

He was wonderful! He came out to give us an estimate, but ended up climbing up on our roof and fixing our problem for free (neighbor helping neighbor). I would highly recommend!

They have several Handymen on call. They all are friendly, make suggestions. They work very fast and I am always delighted with the repairs and any work they do. I have a couple of favorites so I can request the same handyman that I already know what to expect from him. Great company, very reliable and do great work! I will use them from now on. Quick response, work was excellent on all jobs. Our front door would not close securely. He reset the door. Bathroom door was miis aligned and he planed it down so that it now fits perfectly. A window would not open after house was piered. He fixed it easily. Called him again when we could not get out of our drive due to ice and snow accumulation. He came right out and took care of it in much less time than we thought it would be.

I tryed to reply to their email and it would not go through so i called them and got the answer machine . I asked them to call me back that i did'nt understand why they were not interested in doing the job. not a call back yet. Today is may 12th still no return call from Handyman Extraordinaire but thats ok cause they would'nt get the job now anyway for what ever the reason was.

I scheduled with the company for a handyman to repair the gutter on the back of my house. This was a rather small job, and we scheduled a date for the service a week out. I had scheduled the work of a housepainter aroudn the estimated date of work by the handyman. The handman didn't show on the day scheduled and never notified me. I followed up, and we scheduled the service for the following day - he explained another job had run long. Again, same pattern. He didn't show and didn't call. We scheduled a third time, and he didn't show. I called the main office for the company, and I was again assured that the next date we scheduled was for real. After four times rescheduling, the work is still not completed and no one has contacted me. Very disappointed. Needless to say, I'm making other arrangements for the work and will not recommend this company. Highly unprofessional.

2 1/2 days later I called to see how the estimate is going. He called back quickly saying he will get back to me after talking to his electrician. It is the afternoon of the next day and he never called. May be my repair were not costly enough? Either way, so far Andy Call so far has being better. May be I will go with them.
