B and L has been servicing and repairing HVAC systems in my home for many years. The new high efficiency unit installed a few weeks ago works very well. The interior temperature is comfortable and consistent, which was not the case with our old system. It took two days to install the new system because new vent pipe had to be inserted through the roof. Chris and Lane came on time, knew what they were doing and were careful to protect wood floors from damage. They left no mess at all. I'm very pleased, as I always have been, with their work.
Description of Work: We needed to replace a 23+ year old HVAC system that had failed. Roy came, evaluated the location of the old system, then provided information about different HVAC options, based on efficiency ratings. We chose to install the highest efficiency units available.

Seems they just blew me off.
Description of Work: I used B & L's services a little over a year ago and had great service. They were my first choice. I called asking for an inspection and repair quote/estimate for my heating. I needed to have some heating ducts replaced. Week later no one came or returned my call. I called a second time. This was assigned to an individual. He never called me and I had no response from their company.

Description of Work: Prompt customer service. Came out to do an estimate for us on super short notice! The home we purchased only had window units. Conventional HVAC wasn't an option so they recommended ductless heating and air. They have been professional and prompt. The install is supposed to start next week. I will update if necessary, but I know they're going to do a fantastic job!

The customer's heating unit is a heat pump. The expansion valve failed. We ordered the factory replacement, installed the part, and added refrigerant. To replace an expansion valve is time consuming as you are cutting into the sealed refrigerant system. Refrigerant has to be removed, the system evacuated and recharged. Three hours is not excessive for this process. The technician made 2 trips to the residence because the part had to be ordered. The job was expensive but not out of line for the work that was done.

Tech was on time and thorough, but he didn't answer my questions with specificity (a/c system was "old," but he wouldn't say how old). He couldn't tell me the rate for his work and said the company would bill me. I'd forgotten to ask for the rate when making the appointment. It was a little disconcerting to wait for the bill to find out how much it would cost, which is the reason for the "B" rating on responsiveness and overall.
Description of Work: I called B&L for an inspection/tune-up of my a/c in a home I purchased.

The repairman was friendly and competent. He recommended some work that would need to be done in the future and I had some other items that I wanted to change. He promised he would get Band L to quote all of the items. A month later I called them to remind them I wanted the quote. They said they would get back to me. Haven't heard from them since.

Fine, had to postpone appointment several times due to not being above 70 degrees in earlier months on day scheduled. Have to have that for a/c checks in HVAC units.

At the time I hired them they told me they could not work in the attic during very hot temperatures. They said they would still do the job but that it may take a little longer since they would only work in the mornings till it got too hot. I understood this and was fine with it. I scheduled other types on contractors based on B and L's schedule. The day after they were to start they called and said they would not be able to do it at all till the fall due to the heat. They very next week a cool front was expected and the high for that week was 85 degrees. I emailed and called then to see if they could go ahead and do the job since it was going to be cooler than expected and to this day (a couple of weeks later), I have never heard back.

Overall, it was one of the most positive experiences in the building process. Kyle was very informative and knowledgeable about their products and made some recommendations on the best systems for what we were looking for. Band L was very informative of what was going to happen and when throughout the entire process. They were on time, friendly, clean, and were very careful around other construction materials and products in the house during construction. We found they were VERY tidy on the jobsite and didn't leave a mess. Little did we realize this was NOT the norm for construction trades people! We were most impressed with the quality of work. Always striving to install the best products available, we received new valves and controls for our radiant flooring that are more reliable than previous versions. We were so pleased with the work Kyle and his team of installers did that we won't look elsewhere for any of our HVAC needs.
Description of Work: B&L was just awesome to do business with. We had them design and install our HVAC systems in a custom built home. It included a geothermal (pond loop) HVAC unit with 3-zones, a ventilator system (for fresh air exchange and negative pressure created by a commercial grade kitchen exhaust fan), an 8 zone radiant floor heating system, boiler, boiler loop for hot water tank, and kitchen and bathroom exhaust fans. We have been so delighted with the results. Our systems are quiet, efficient, and make our home very comfortable to live in. We didn't originally plan on using a geothermal unit, but are very glad that Kyle recommend one. We couldn't be more pleased with the results of NOT having a noisy outdoor AC unit while we enjoy warm evenings out on the deck. In addition, having a radiant heat flooring system with warm tile - especially in the bathrooms is a real treat! There's no loud air handler, and we can set each zone to a comfortable temperature. Cooler in the bedrooms for sleeping and warmer in the bathrooms. We also enjoy the boiler loop for hot water tank. It provides enough hot water for a 75 gallon spa tub and has such a quick recovery that it's as if we endless hot water! All in all, you can tell all of the systems were designed to work together - and they do so - beautifully!

The entire experience was excellent. The estimate appointment was prompt and the provider was very knowledgeable about the subject. The project itself cost exactly the estimate, which was the middle of 3 estimates that I had obtained. Installation took 3 people most of 2 days and was very technically challenging (with moving the furnace and ducts up to the attic), but there were no complaints from any of the workers. Once finished they went through the operation and programming of the thermostat very carefully, showed me how to change the filters, and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. When I had a problem with the furnace (still under warranty) they came out and fixed it immediately on a weekend. I will definitely call B&L again for my next HVAC need; they did a great job.
