Description of Work: Ground Zero installed an underground storm shelter for us. They were incredibly prompt and professional, and dealing with them for payment processing was a breeze. They helped us decipher all the forms we filled out and did exactly what they said they were going to do. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, or a more cost-efficient way to make our family safer.

Description of Work: Installed a safe room in my garage to provide peace of mind during the Oklahoma tornado season. My daughter and mom are unable to go down steep stairs, so this was the best alternative. They called when they were on their way, arrived within a few minutes of stated time, and installation took just a little over an hour. Inspection by City of MWC went as planned, and I am now ready for any tornado warnings!!!

Description of Work: A walk-in shelter was installed in my garage by Ground Zero. The company brought in the shelter which was on rollers into my garage. Removed the rollers, bored through the garage floor and bolted the shelter in. It did not take them very long and they were super organized. I could tell they had installed them many times. The shelter was on a trailer that lowered to the pavement and the shelter was rolled off of the trailer and into the garage by two workers. I have used the shelter two times and am very happy with it.

Get a contact number in case your start time is outside normal business hours. The crew was supposed to be here between 7-9 A.M. which is outside their normal office hours of 10AM - 6 PM. They arrived late due to a blown tire enroute to our house but we didn't find out about this till they showed up almost an hour past the window they told us to expect them. Find out if you or the company is going to contact utilities to mark lines, pipes, etc. If you're in an unincorporated area you're responsible for this. If you have special requests, be reasonable and expect that it may in fact cost more money. The dirt dug up for the shelter is normally used to create a grade to the exposed shelter sides and back so you shouldn't have to worry about what to do with it. Other than being late and having difficulty contacting the company or crew, once they arrived they apologized, and got right to work. They were polite, efficient, and didn't leave a big mess. Overall happy with it.
Description of Work: Purchase and installation of a tornado shelter. None of these is a show stopper, but be aware of what your responsibilities are. If you live in an unincorporated township, it's on you to call the utility companies to get electrical, phone, and water lines marked so that you don't get something cut. We opted for an above ground shelter entry shelter mainly due to the fact that it's less expensive than the "in the garage option" since they don't have to cut through the slab. The main body of the shelter is in the ground, the entry is through a door set at an angle like the old style exterior basement doors. The lead time in Oklahoma for a storm shelter is bad, about 6-8 months is normal so don't even bother complaining about this it's the reality of the situation. Make sure you know up front whether your shelter includes actual seating or if it's just the bare bones setup where it's left to you to determine seating. There are pros and cons since many of the shelters we saw had some form of bench seating that isn't particularly comfortable but does allow you to put more people in it. Have a plan, know where you want the shelter before they show up. Expect about 2-3 hours from start to finish after they arrive.

Two workers arrived on time to install shelters for both my family and my neighbor on the same day. They worked on my neighbors between 4-5 hrs and while one worker completed smoothing concrete and clean up, the other worker came over ahead of schedule and started digging in my garage. Again, only about 4 1/2 hrs start to finish. They worked hard and continuous to get the job done, answered all questions, cleaned up all of their mess and reviewed information about my new shelter with me before they left. They didn't act at all like they minded me watching occasionally and taking pictures.
Description of Work: Ground Zero installed a storm shelter in our garage and we're very pleased with the results. They marked the concrete in the agreed area, dug it out, placed a pre-made steel shelter in the center, back-filled with concrete, and cleaned up all their mess before leaving.

They showed up on time and were finished in just a few hours. Cleaned up afterwards. Very happy with the work!
Description of Work: We are very pleased with our new storm shelter! They did a great job - very professional! Now we feel so safe if storms hit! We went with the larger model, not much more but SO glad we did. I have moved important papers and other misc things down there for storage. It is in our garage and totally water and mold proof! Also put a small dog cage down there so we are ready to go w/ our pets. I couldn't be happier with our purchase from Ground Zero!

When we contacted Ground Zero, we were given clear information about the process, including getting building permits. We were given an installation date on the spot, and informed that if an earlier opportunity for installation came up, they would immediately contact us. We originally were scheduled for a July installation, but were called to let us know an earlier installation date was available. The crew showed up on schedule, and conducted themselves very professionally. The entire installation process took only five hours (even though it was raining), including the time the crew took to explain the shelter operation. Debris was cleared away quickly and to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Hole was dug in garage floor. Shelter was dropped into hole, and cemented in place. Construction debris was hauled away.

The first worker came exactly on time with a back hoe to dig the hole. It took about two hours. Then the big truck came with our shelter already made. They swung it into the ground and filled back around with the soil. They were finished in less than four hours. There has been several heavy rain storms in the last three months, the shelter has remained dry and perfect.
Description of Work: We went to their office in June 2011 and signed a contract for an outdoor concrete shelter. The installation date was for Nov 2011. I had to reschedule the date twice due to heavy rain and this was never a problem for them to do. I did not have to pre-pay anything.

Everything was done as agreed upon. They arrived on time. Cut and removed the concrete, dug out the dirt and clay, installed the shelter, filled around it with concrete, cleaned up after.. This was all done in about 4 hours. They did not ask for payment until the job was done. They are very professional. We highly recommend them. You can't go wrong with this company.

This company scheduled an appointment to install my shelter at 7:00n AM on 5/27/2011. When they didn't show up I called and was told that they would check on what the problem was. When they finally called they said they could'nt get to it until the following month. If you are looking for professionals that do what they say they will do then these guys are not for you.

My neighbor had one put in a couple of years ago and that's who they went with. I looked at different companies and the reason why I liked Ground Zero is because they use the concrete truck to back fill around the shelter and the ground instead of just putting the dirt back. They scoop out all the dirt and then they put in the middle shelter into the ground. It is really cold and it was my Valentines Day present and that I live in a cooler city so that's important. (Hope I don't have to use that) They said they'll be here at 7 and they were here at 7 on the dot. They started digging and by 7 that night they were done. They worked really hard to get it in quickly and efficiently. There was no drama. Everything was fine. They kept me a deal on a winter sale. They were having a winter sale and I bought it. It's a family owned and operated business out of Oklahoma so that's important in supporting local. They were just really nice. I would use them again in the future if need be.

Richard and his assistant showed up at precisely the correct time. Although I failed to remember the correct day and had not cleaned out the 3rd bay of our garage Richard and his assistant helped me move everything. This caused them a delay in time and when the concrete truck arrived he had to wait about 45 minutes before he could start pouring. This was at a cost of $2.00 per minute. GroundZero absorbed this cost even though it was due to me not having the garage cleaned out. Richard had estimated that the job would take 4 hours. It took 4 1/2 hours due again to my fault. When the job was completed my garage floor and driveway was cleaner than it was before the job. The shelter itself is by far the best construction of any others we researched. All seams are double welded inside and out. The door is self locking and has (2) hand holds that are covered within for further protection. The shelter has been tested by the Wind Science and Engineering Research Center at Texas Tech University, and found to exceed FEMA standards. The company is family owned and operated. Richard who is President of the company actually did the installation. I could not be more satisfied.
