It is my opinion that West Painting, Inc. is an untrustworthy contractor. The owner (Mark West) provided a quote, which I accepted, and then waited two months for him to start my exterior paint project. After stripping the paint off the front of my house Mark West advised me that he made a mistake/typo on his quote, and that the labor cost for my project would be double ($20K+ instead of $10K). It is important to note that this was the labor price alone and didn’t include materials or paint. The main body of the house is stone that required no paint. The $20K+ he was seeking was only for eaves, soffits, and fascias on a small 1900 SF house. Rather than honor his word by doing the job for the quoted price, Mark West instructed his crew to leave when I refused to pay the additional cost. He is either ignorant of his trade and estimating, or knowingly utilized bait and switch tactics to secure my business. Either way, I believe that Mark West is unprofessional and can’t be trusted. Prospective customers would be wise to have an attorney review any contract or agreement presented by this individual.

[Member Name Removed] received a quote from West Painting in February 2024. The quote included the estimated man-hours for his project. He agreed to the terms, and we began his project on May 17th. Two hours into the project, after consulting with my foreman, we collectively realized that I had made an error in the estimated hours. I had mistakenly transposed the number, which effectively double the amount of the job. This was entirely my mistake, and I felt terrible about the inconvenience it caused [Member Name Removed]. Understanding that the corrected quote was beyond his budget, I proposed to finish the work we had started that morning at no cost to him. Additionally, I offered him a check as compensation and a token of good faith. [Member Name Removed], however, refused my sincere apologies, declined the check, and rejected my offer to complete the started work at no charge. Additionally, he became verbally abusive and physically shoved me through the front yard while I was carrying a 30' extension ladder, all in front of my crew. This was an honest mistake that I made a good faith effort to rectify. There was no "bait and switch," no deceit, just a human error and an attempt to make amends. Mark West

ONE OF THE OWNERS/FOREMAN WAS EXTREMELY RUDE. HE RARELY SHOWED UP EXCEPT TO GET THE CONTRACT SIGNED, WHEN I CALLED HIM ABOUT UNPAINTED AREAS AND TO COLLECT HIS MONEY WHEN FINISHED. THIS TWO YEAR PAINT JOB IS PEELING AS IF THERE WAS NO PRIMER APPLIED. IT ACTUALLY APPEARS TO BE WEARING OFF PLACES. THE PAINT WAS SPRAYED ON AND IS ON THE BRICK, SCREEN/STORM DOOR FRAMES, GLASS AND HARDWARE. THE PAINT IS PEELING EVEN UNDER THE PROTECTED (I.E. UNDER THE OVERHANGS) AREAS. HORRIBLE JOB! DON'T EVER USE WEST!
Description of Work: PAINTED EXTERIOR TRIM OF 3000 SQ FT HSE, INCLUDING GUTTERS AND DOWNSPOUTS.

West Painting, Inc. became aware of this review on 2/3/12. Had we been contacted by the memeber, we would have responded immediately. After reading his remarks, I contacted him on 2/4/12 and inspected his home on 2/5/12. The member wasn't able to meet with us for the inspection, however; his wife was present. Had he met with us we would have told him that he did have a Foreman on his job at all times (Ely) and that his home was thoroughly sanded and primed (with an oil base primer), caulked (60 year caulk), and finished with two coats of Sherwin Williams (Super Paint). As for pealing paint: no pealing paint was located under the eaves, but on gables facing north, all of which were hit severely by the May 2010, hail storm. As for being rude, the member said, in one conversation the company owner was being short in answering questions in yes and no form. For that I apologized. West Painting, Inc. has hundreds of satisfied customers each year, with many being repeat customers. We provide full warranty on all our work.

Sloppy work. The workers left the heat full blast one night (because the trim did not dry fast enough) and the ceiling bubbled in the two rooms that always get the hottest. Then I had to pay for the mistake with more hours. Mark was rushing and he hires painters that are not very good and he does not stay on top of their work. I was overcharged for poor quality work. His slogan is meticulous preparation but it should include sloppy execution and finish.
Description of Work: He was to paint walls and ceilings upstairs (3 bedrooms, 1 bath, and hall) and touch up trim.

This was the third project we painted for Member, in as many years. This project was bid on an hourly basis with an estimated time frame, based on projects listed in the original contract. The original scope of work was increased by adding all woodwork, patching and repairing staircase risers, painting the family room ceiling, matching and repairing faux finished walls in dining room. As for the upstairs bedroom ceiling, every coat applied to the ceiling (within minutes) developed bubbles. Each time the bubbles were scraped off and skimmed with drywall mud. Each time the bubbles appeared it became clear the previous paint was no longer holding as it was coming off with our paint. As a result we had to remove the previous layer of paint and skim coat again. Resulting in more hours. After carrying this job for two weeks without a draw, we billed member for the hours completed, as she was leaving town for two weeks. She became upset that she was being billed for a job that was incomplete an she could never seem to grasp the real issue on the bedroom ceilings. Our intentions was to complete the touch-up when she returned from vacation. However, she never gave us the opportunity to return.

Medium at best.
Description of Work: Hired to paint exterior of home and some inside.The workers were fair, prep on house was good. They dripped a lot of paint that I cleaned up.Mark the company owner rushed them after 2 days.The inside was a "time and materials" extra. Mark removed the crew to another job before the bedroom was painted, as agreed.They had to come back 2 weeks later and finish.Mark also charges for HIS time to buy materials; 1.5 hours to go 1 mile for a can of paint they were short on.We cleaned and scrubbed paint off the patio. The overspray was everywhere; glass tables, grill, windows, etc.

West Painting, Inc. became aware of this review on 2/3/12 and we were never notified of a problem, by Member. Had we been notified, we would have taken care of the problem. We have been unsuccessful in contacting Member, however, his non-existing address in Nichols Hills, Ok. was of no help. Also,without a date of completion, we were unable to locate his contract. As for an hour and a half charged to his job for travel, I assure you, picking up 1 gal. of paint was not my only responsibility towards that project. My hours are always conservatively figured. Leaving a bedroom incomplete for two weeks, much less two days would be unheard of. West Painting, Inc. has hundreds of satisfied customers every year. We fully guarantee all our work.
