I called Tru Tech to get an estimate on reattaching a meter riser base that had fallen off due to recent ice storm. I explained to them that the electric company had looked at it and said that an electrician would have to reattach it and that the riser base was still intact and just need to be reattached. I explained to them that I had been waiting all week for an electrician and that most were busy working other jobs. They said they would send someone out the next day. They went out the next day and looked at the problem. They quoted me $2500 to fix.. This type repair was something similar to what I had done at another property before and it cost me under $900. I explained to them that their price was ridiculous and that they were overcharging me. They said that they were going from the list of repairs in their book but they would work with me a little on the price. I told them that I would not hire and pay them anything close to that for a job that cost at least 3 times less to do. They said they would have Tony, the supervisor, call me within an hour to offer me a better price. Tony never called. I called another reputable electrician and they are able to fix the problem for $590. I will never use TruTech Services again.
Description of Work: They did not perform any service.

Thank you for your review, first of all let me state you called to set up an appointment in which you never showed up too, after calling you multiple times and leaving messages you finally called us back. The technicians who went over to your rental property had o idea on what you needed to have repaired because you were not there to inform them of what was needed. So, the tenant showed them several different items and the technician gave you an estimate based on what the tenant showed them.. I can see mutliple items that the tech geve you an estimate for making the total higher than you expected. If you would of spoken with me like I had asked you to when you called for Tony you would of known what items the estimate was for and what I could do to help you but you refused. Furthermore we did not charge you a service call fee for coming out. I suggest the next time when you make an appointment make sure you are there so that way there will be no mistakes. Sincerely Julia

It was fine. It went pretty well. We had a switch that would turn on sometimes and not other times. There were two light switches at different locations. That was really one of the main things we wanted fixed. Afterwards, we found that the other switch was still doing the same thing. So, it was really kind of a half success. The switch that he did work on, apparently, was fixed, but the other one was continuing to not actually turn on the light. The pricing was very good for an electrician.

We paid them $300 the first time they came. This had been a recurring problem for us and we wanted it solved. The lady who scheduled our appointment said that any reputable plumber should guarantee their work, then the plumber assured us that if the problem was not fixed, they would come back and take care of it free of charge within 6 months. Two and a half months later, the problem reappeared, but it was much worse. So we called True Tech again and they came out and spent 55 minutes working, handed us a bill for $325, and told us that they were sorry we had a plumbing problem. The problem was not fixed and he knew it. We've been unable to reach them again since then. On that same day, we called a real plumber and they fixed the problem that day. According to the plumber who solved our problem, the True Tech guy just didn't want to get dirty. The problem is now solved.
Description of Work: The first time they came out, they warrantied their work. They were supposed to diagnose the problem and we were assured that they had figured it out. Came back out 2.5 months later when problem resurfaced and had gotten worse. They spent less than an hour working and would not seek out the root of the problem. Gave us a bill for $325, said that they were sorry we had a plumbing problem, and left.

I was really pleased with True Tech. I recently purchased a home and Roger was able to answer all of my questions regarding the condition of the home's electrical system. He immediately identified that my breaker box had been recalled and provided me with information about the cost of replacing the box. My biggest pet peeve with many service companies I have encountered prior to today it the use of scare tactics to encourage you to spend more money during the service call. I was very happy to see that True Tech does not do that and when Roger left I felt I had received the facts about what was needed in my home. The price ranges he was able to give me for different work also seemed very reasonable. I will definitely call True Tech again in the future and would recommend them to anyone looking for an honest and reasonable professional to assist with home repair.

The estimate indicated that the installation would require a separate circuit with the cost for this being more than I felt it was worth so I did not have the electrician install the fixture. However, True Tech did allow me to use my deal on another job that they worked on. I use them for my electrical, plumbing and HVAC work and find them professional and caring.

I had a service appointment scheduled on 9/16/2015. I was called by True Tech to say a technician called in sick and my appointment would be delayed until later in the day. I was called 2 and 1/2 hours later and they said they would have to reschedule to another day. I wasted a half day of work to stay home for the service call. I had a laundry-list of small jobs I had been postponing. TrueTech came out to go over them, advised me about replacing an old wired-in smoke alarm system, updating GFI outlets in bathrooms, replacing kitchen light fixtures, other minor items. I appreciated the advice, the option to purchase fixtures myself (which I did), and the solutions they offered. They were prompt and courteous, came as scheduled and were careful to make sure they were doing the work to my satisfaction. I've also used their plumbing service in the past. They have a very good Service Plan which I've enrolled in, for plumbing, A/C, and electrical service for a reasonable monthly fee, and that is giving me some peace of mind about this whole area of maintenance. Good communication from the home base as well. I will definitely go back to this company.

The A/C unit in our home wasn't working properly. The fan was coming on outside, but inside...despite hearing a slight buzzing sound, air wasn't coming on at the vents. I knew from past experience, AND working with former heat and air repairman, that the likely culprit was the blower motor in the attic was going out/working intermittently. When I called True Tech and spoke to Julia, I explained the symptoms, told her what I thought it could be, and asked her if it would make a difference price-wise if I purchased the $49 diagnostic on Angie?s List first. She advised me to purchase the service and gave me a window of 12-2pm that the tech could arrive. Before agreeing to the service, I asked her..."if it IS just the blower motor, what?s the price you charge to replace it? You know...just a ballpark figure?" Julie wouldn't give me a figure, explaining that SO many factors need to me examined, "the tech will give you our pricing after he completes the diagnostic." Fine. That wasn't what I wanted to hear, but I scheduled it anyway. Carl arrived at 1pm. I was at work, but my wife and kids were home. I got a call from her around 130pm. She said, Carl told her our unit was nearly 20 years old (its 17y/o) and our best bet was replacing it. I believe he quoted her around $2800 to do so. Then he told her he believed the blower motor was out and it was leaking Freon. Replacing the blower motor and the Freon was going to cost between $6-800, but he needed to do some further calculations to get and exact price. I asked to speak with Carl to explain his diagnosis to me. Are you ready? It was more than $700 (I wish I could remember the exact number he quoted) to replace the blower motor and refill the Freon. After a question and answer session on what he saw, I told him I'm NOT paying anywhere near $700. I was told by my coworker that blower motors (for what I needed) cost somewhere between $40-100. I asked further about the "leaking Freon"...did he find a leak. "No. But doing a leak test could cost MUCH more." Again, he ball parked a number. It was high. I told him I just wanted to replace the blower motor. That should be enough. But I'm certainly NOT paying over $700. He told me he would call his boss and see what he could do. 10 minutes later he called and quoted $600 to replace the motor and to refill 2 lbs. of Freon. When I asked what it would be JUST to replace blower? He quoted $358. He said True Tech has a pricing book they use and $485 is the standard charge for replacement. $358 is the discount. Keep in mind I paid $50 already for the diagnostic. I said, "Carl...? If you have a standard charge for replacing a blower motor, then why when I asked Julia on the phone to "ballpark me" on it, she couldn't? His answer was that they likely didn't have access to this pricing book. Are you following this? My coworker told me that Freon could be purchased, by his memory (and mine)...$200 for 30 lbs. When I asked Carl what the Freon replacement charge was, he said $143 for the first pound and $99 each pound after that...I'd need 2lbs for $242. Oh! Also, I asked him, "How much is labor? Surely this isn't going to last over an hour to replace the motor?" Well, he'd have to go get one. He didn't bring one with him. Despite telling his dispatcher I needed a new blower motor...Carl didn't have one. I could forgive this if it was JUST this...but he is CLEARLY trying to gouge me. I can't trust anything he says at this point. So to recap...Carl told my wife we need to replace our unit cause its 20 years old. Then he said the blower motor was bad and it was leaking Freon. Nearly $800. After speaking with his boss, it dropped to $600. $358 for motor. $242 for Freon. $600 - don?t forget I paid $50 already for the diagnostic. I told him no. I don't mind paying a skilled technician for their services...but knowing what the problem was, what the market value of the parts are, and how much labor time is involved...at $600 it?s excessive. At nearly $800 it?s gouging. After sending Carl on his way, I called Mack Service Company. They arrived @330pm same day. 15 minutes of diagnostics to discover, LOW AND BEHOLD, the blower motor is bad. $203 to replace $18.50 to cap $65 for 1 hour of labor $286.50 total Oh, btw...Mack said he couldn't know if it would need Freon until AFTER he replaced the motor. Tested it...no Freon. Gauges looked good. 2 hours later, my house has never been cooler. Julia? Carl? True Tech? I would NOT recommend their services. Edit: After seeing Julias response I felt obligated to note that i NEVER received a return phone call from her or Carl or anyone at True Tech. I would have had no problem voicing my displeasure with their pricing scheme. Furthermore, I never asked Julia to diagnose my unit over the phone. I told her i ALREADY knew what was wrong with it and asked her how much they charged to replace it. Its perfectly understandable (though poor customer service) that she perhaps...maybe... doesn't know ALL the pricing standards her company have predetermined. And if that was the ONLY issue we had, we wouldn't have had much of a problem. The point of contention, and what I want to relay to potential future customers of True Tech is the fact that her technician quoted me nearly $800 to replace a blower motor and tried to commission upscale me by claiming i needed to replace freon. Fixing my blower motor cost me less than $300. True Tech wanted to gouge me for nearly $800. Julia? If I "get what I pay for?" What benefit is it to get price gouged? What benefit is it get lied to about needing freon at nearly $250? Buyer Beware.

Installation went very well, even if it turned out to be more expensive than advertised (reportedly due to the difficult conditions in my vintage home). Team was on time, considerate and unit to this point has worked well. Maintenance went very poorly: I had given them the job under the premise that they would maintain the unit, which they agreed to. From the start they tried to push me into a 'complete service contract' where, for a flat fee of 400/year, they would inspect and maintain all appliances (heat, air, septic, sewer etc). Since I have trusted contractors for these jobs, I was not interested. They then offered me a service contract for the backup generator only, at a price of $10 per month, to which I agreed. After one year, I was told that they no longer offered maintenance for the unit they had installed, except in the framework of an upgraded 'complete service contract' I , which now was $50/month. So effectively, one year after installation, they quintupled the price to maintain the unit, breaking their commitment to perform the necessary yearly maintenance unless I agreed to their high-price service contract. I feel taken aback by their high-pressure sales policy, and to a certain point deceived. Had they told me that they would only maintain the unit if I agreed to a high-price service contract, which included my entire house, I would not have given them the job in the first place. They may not have broken any laws, but in my opinion they acted disingenuously. I wonder if the Chamber of Commerce and the BBB should look into these kinds of high pressure sales practices. I would not use them again. I have discussed my case with them and given them ample time to review their stance and reinstate my original service contract (possibly with a reasonable yearly cost adjustment) before I posted this review. They were not responsive.

Thank you for your review, First of all I would like to say we did not go up to $50 per month for her membership plan.. After 10 years of keeping the prices the same for all our or customers the owner had decided to do some changing in our prices. We sent out all of our customers a letter stating we were changing our memebership plan prices from $26.95 a month to $29.95 a month which is a $3.00 increase in price.. We were wanting to do away with all of of $10 a month plans and offer all of our customers our for plan that incluses the whole home package instead of just one item..If there was any customer who did not want to get off the $10 a month plan the owner was gracious enought o let that customer stay at that price.. I am not sure why you think we were trying to make you pay $50 a month we have had this conversation several times and I am not sure why you dont understand..
