A person came out twice to measure and make templates for the installation. The first time he informed us that the shower tile had not been installed correctly by the Tile company and would have to be corrected before a door could be installed correctly. We contacted the company that had installed the tile. They determined the tile was in fact installed incorrectly and would have to be torn out and redone. The tile and granite company tore out everything and replaced both the tile and granite. When everything was completed, the Shower Door Source came out and took new measurements and made new templates for the job. The door was ordered and was installed in 9 days. The door is beautiful and works great! We would definitely use this company again.

The simple shower went well. If you have one door with no frills, they are okay. The second shower was a nightmare. They didn't know what they were doing and it was installed with a cross bar that the shower door will hit if you're not careful. The handle fell off 2 years later.

[member name removed], Your shower was correctly installed in 2011. There are no issues with your shower, it's installation, or our quality of service that we have ever been made aware of to date. With the above said, I understand you called our store last week and told our employee your handle was loose. This is typically a very simple fix that a homeowner can perform themselves. Per my Operations Manager, we offered (at No Charge) replacement washers to you that would allow you or your husband to quickly repair this minor issue. They are a plastic component that can break or split after years of repeated use. We have offered free replacement washers to many people over the years, regardless of being a customer or not. They are a low cost item and we try and help folks out with this minor issue regardless of who they are. In your case, I can only surmise that you are upset about being told there is a $95 service call charge for us to come to your home to make this repair. You were offered free parts (which are not under warranty) in order to make this a $0 cost repair.. I am not aware of any company offering customers what we have offered you. Again, we were trying to make this a $0 cost repair for you. We simply cannot afford to make free service calls. It is my hope you will consider our position here and retract any negative comments you have made about us, as this is damaging to our reputation and Angie's List rating.. I can be reached personally at (4050608-0000 if you would like to discuss personally. Thank you, Dave Sparks

We first visited the store and they gave us the options we had and hints on how the tile should be installed to get the best fit then when our tile work was done they came out and measured the enclosure. The said a bout 3 weeks before it would be in and 2 weeks later it was in and they came out and installed the door and other frame less panels. They were very nice, friendly and cleaned up after themselves.

Shower Door Source has an excellent product. It is expensive but very high quality. We paid extra for the special coating that is supposed to repel water and help avoid build-up on the glass. If I were to do it over, I'd forgo the coating and the extra cost and do what we've been doing anyway: squeegeeing the door and wiping it down with a towel after every shower. That has kept it clean and new looking. In the other house, despite the special coating, the door hasn't been squeegeed and is covered with water spots. I assume they will come off easily with a good cleaning. Something that would have been nice to know before we ordered our doors is that you cannot use cleaning products containing bleach in an installation that requires silicone caulking, as in the shower enclosure and door described above (it turns the caulk black, we were told). If you have the special water-repellent coating, you cannot use cleaning products containing ammonia. I found that out when the installers came. They recommended a particular ammonia-free glass cleaner, which I easily found at Sam's Club, so it hasn't been a problem. But I kind of wish I had known. It would have been another reason to forgo the water-repellent coating. Overall, we love our shower doors and think they add a special touch to our home. They are fairly easy to keep clean--certainly MUCH easier to clean than the doors that slide in a metal track that collects gunk!

My wife and I had over the past year entertained the idea of replacing our old shower doors with doors from the Shower Door Source. We went to the showroom, met David the owner who was very nice and informative. We liked the product and then after attending this years home and garden show, we determined it was time, so we visited with Rick, and decided on the doors for our shower. They came out, measured our shower and we paid the 50 % up front to order our doors. It takes 3 weeks from order date to installation, which is clearly printed on their order form, so the day of installation was here. They called and arrived at my house, and started the install. Part way through, after placing the fixed pane of glass, hanging the hinges, they determined that the glass was not the correct size as it was rubbing on the tile. I appreciated the fact that they realized there was a problem, they told me that they would have to take the glass back to the shop and grind it down. I asked their installer how long that would take, and he replied "I don't know, I don't polish the glass". He packed his things up, and left stating that someone from the company would be calling me. I immediately called the store, spoke to David the owner, requesting that they return that day. He stated that would not be possible, but would return the following day. This was not possible as my wife and I both were working. So he stated that he would schedule it for the following Wednesday between 1100 and 1130. (So we were without our shower for another week). So today the day of the final install, Bobby called me at 1110 stating who he was and that they would be late between 1 and 130 ( they showed up at 2 )as they were doing a bigger job and running late. I called David, and attempted to discuss the situation with him. He was argumentative, told me that "my tile was bad, and thus they had to do modifications which they didn't charge me for, and that they offered to come out the next day but I had to work" He then tried to tell me that they were running late because of the weather, when reality was they overbooked, It was obvious to me that he didn't care to discuss with me the issues of their POOR customer service, lack of punctuality, and it is obvious that "the customer is always right" is not the case with "The Shower Door Store". They have a great product, we are happy with the shower door, but also, just a note, they ask for 50% up front, but do not tell you that the money upfront does not include taxes, so be prepared to pay more that the half you first paid.

Response from The Shower Door Source
Since May 2011 The Shower Door Source has been measuring, making, and installing quality frameless shower doors and enclosures in the OKC metro area. We have been striving to offer our valuable customers the best experience possible when purchasing frameless shower doors for their homes. We believe we have been accomplishing this task and have well over 1,000 happy customers, many of whom we have installed glass in their second and third bathrooms. I would like to address the Member’s comments regarding our company, the grade they provided, and my comments regarding their experience here. 1.) On the day of installation the installers did encounter an issue regarding the fit of the door. This issue was related to poor construction/tile installation on the part of the customer or their contractor. Due to the issues with a wall/tile that is not straight or consistent, we had the door custom fabricated to make up for some of the inconsistencies of the construction. There are, however limitations as to what can be achieved in the fabrication process and how many cuts/angles can be cut into one piece of glass. The door fit too tightly and it was determined the door would need to come back to our shop for additional fabrication work in order to get it to fit. When the customer called our store, I spoke to Member regarding the steps needed to take care of making the door fit. His tone was threatening and demanding. One of his first comments was "I talked to my wife and she wants to know what you are going to do for us !" (i.e. we want money). The customer had already received a fair price, as well as a $100 discount from the OKC Home & Garden Show. I offered to have the fab work completed that evening and come out to install the door the very next day. The customer refused and said he and his wife were both off only one particular day of the week every week. I told him the installers had to move forward and continue their other scheduled installations for that day and again offered to install the door the very next day. He refused and we scheduled the re-installation for the customer’s day off the next week. During our conversation, I let Member know that the tile installation and poor construction were the reason for the difficulty. I also told him we were doing everything in our power to give him the best service possible by doing additional hand fabrication work (at no additional charge) and offering to install the very next day. 2.) Regarding the re-installation day at the Member residence, There was a major snow storm the evening prior to the scheduled installation time. All employees had trouble getting into work. The reason for our installers being late on the day of install was not because they were overbooked, but simply because road conditions caused a later start for the day. We take great caution on snow days, as we are carrying large pieces of glass in dangerous conditions. 3.) Final Comments: We attempted to offer this customer the best service and quality work possible. Their expectations around doing custom fabrication and same day installation were unreasonable and not achievable by anyone. Offering next day service is absolutely top quality. Further, it is not possible for our glass to fix/make up for all the construction/tile installation deficiencies that occur every day. We fabricate our product to the highest standards possible and sometimes there is custom fab work required. I do not understand why this customer has chosen this vindictive response, clearly aimed at hurting our business and reputation. Nor do I understand or agree with the ratings given on this review. The Member’s have received a high quality product and excellent service delivered in a timely, professional manner. I wish the Faulker’s well for the future and hope they can find a way to treat others more fairly in the future than they have treated us in this review. Best Wishes, Dave Sparks – President, The Shower Door Source

We stopped in the store one afternoon after shopping for tile for our bathroom remodel. We were greeted by the owner, David, and he gave us a thorough description of his product, and differentiated it from other similar products available. We had our measurements, so he was able to give us a budgetary estimate at the time, but explained that a final quotation would be given once they could come out and take final measurements (after our tile was installed). We shopped around with various reputable glass companies, as well as other shower door retailers. We determined we like the product at The Shower Door Source better, and the responsiveness of David & his staff seemed to be much better. We called to schedule final measurements, and they were very prompt to come out and measure. At time of measurement, you place a 50% deposit on your installation. The door/glass were fabricated and arrived in about 4 weeks -- David had told us it would be 3-4 weeks. We were able to promptly schedule the installation. The installers that came out were very professional and obviously took pride in the quality of work that they did. When they finished, the installation looked fantastic. Afterwards, we had a small leak, and it took two visits, but they finally got it stopped. In both cases, the installers who came out were VERY determined to remedy the leak, or said they would end up de-installing the glass and reinstalling. It turns out that we didn't have to take that route. A few of the reasons we chose The Shower Door Source include: - The overall quality of the product -- including the Hardware - pay attention to this when looking at competing products. - The responsiveness of the business - The owner is quick to point out, "We only do Shower Doors, so we have to be good at it." - Local glass companies seemed to be doing shower doors as a sideline -- They were very reluctant to give us budgetary estimates, and said it would be 3-6 weeks before they could even come out to measure and give us a quote, and then 3-4 weeks of fabrication time after that. Note: We chose to go, as suggested, with the Endura-shield glass protector. This raised the price of the work by $100 per pane. From my research, it seemed that it was widely recognized as a quality product. We would do it again, but I highly suspect that the cost of the product is very profitable, similar to many after-market products that car dealers add-on. The pricing we got on this add-on was very similar to what all the other suppliers were quoting. We had a very good experience and will recommend The Shower Door Source. We also expect to do 2 other showers in our home with them in the next year.

A two man crew (skilled worker and helper) was here for over 7 hrs, and the job was deemed "completed." The "service" left me with silicone everywhere - oozing down the seams, in the corners, etc. In the process, the marble ledge on our shower was chipped, and the top of the marble where the shower door was hung was broken. They seemed to have a lot of difficulty getting things lined up. Every seam had air bubbles (very noticeable air bubbles) in them. There were "shims" and tape also. We were told not to use the shower for 24-48 hours. When I asked if they was coming back to clean up the silicone, etc., I was told no = the job was complete. Later in the evening as we further examined the glass, we realized that there was also a chip in the edge. The next moring I called and left a msg for the owner. The owner returned my call and made several excuses, was argumentative and defensive. I later sent him IPhone pictures to show him the issues that I mentioned. Only then did he decide to send out someone to clean up the job. Once the worker saw the chip, he reminded me that the glass was inspected before it was brought out and that it could not have happened during installation. It DID happen during installation as the "chip" was found on my bathroom floor. After several phone calls/E=Mails, the owner decided to come out and look at the job himself. (Scheduling is an obvious problem as the appt times were changed several times during the process). David came out = stated that he did not like the way the seam looked(air bubbles, rough edge, etc) and that the lg panel needed to be redone. He stated that they could grind down the edge where the chip occurred, and another appt was set. The original worker and another new employee were sent out to remove the panel. It was ground down but still was rough. I was told that I had the option to accept it or another piece would be ordered: I chose to get the new piece. Since part of the shower was disassembled, they placed the glass in a back bedroom and said that another appt would be made for the new piece to be installed). In the interim, we were unable to use the shower =water would have gone on the floor, & we were concerned about safety since the glass no longer had the clamp to secure it (see note above regarding clamp). David did put a rush on the glass order. Unfortunately, several panels came but were scratched and not useable (It was at this time that I found out that the glass isn't made in OKC). With only two exceptions, I had to do all of the calling to check on the status of the glass and possible istallation. Finally an appt was set so that a gentleman from Florida that was here "training" the workers could do the install. Once he arrived, it was determined that the molding that was put in would be taken out and recut. He was also able to line things up, & the clamp was no longer needed/used. This installation looks more like what is shown in the showroom. He stated that his company is now under contract with David for some training: new workers were being hired and trained, and he admitted that David had been having some problems and the original workman didn't seem to know what he was doing as the job was poorly done (that workman had been David's "senior" installer & had worked with him from the beginning). While this store has been in this location over 20 yrs, this owner has only been in business for a little over a yr. He offers a $50 rebate through a local magazine, but because you don't get a clearly itemized bill, you're told that it's already included in the price (again, the clamp - while it was an "extra charge" that wasn't detailed in the billing, when it wasn't used in the final installation, there was no refund granted as we were told that we were never charged). The owner is struggling and obviously trying to make some changes, but he has a lot to learn about customer service. Once his "training" and other issues are resolved, this could be a great place. HIs ads & pictures (before & after) are very enticing, and he is also changing things on his website to mention/negate some of the issues we encountered (the marble, etc). Most people don't want to hear/be told that this was a "difficult" install, particularly when they are supposed to be the experts. They also don't want to be without the use of a shower for weeks, particularly when they have house guests! While the glass was reordered/replaced, it took time for the "offer" to even be on the table, and I was told several times that he didn't have to do/offer that. As a customer, you don't need someone making you feel like you're in the "wrong" when they are clearly the ones at fault. We went to this store because it is a long established one in our city, but this new owner has a long way to go in providing the high level of service one expects from a high end product such as this one.
Description of Work: My husband and I went to the store to view the showers and discuss what type might work best for us. I also had a picture of our old shower and approximate measurements with me on my IPhone. We talked with current owner, David Sparks, and he gave us an "approximate" cost to do the job. We decided to get the work done and to include the EuroShield as part of it because we have hard water - the shield helps the water "bead off" and keep the glass clear. We set up a date for one of the workers to come out and make exact measurements. The worker came out, made the measurements, and we were required to pay half the price at that time. At first my husband was going to remove the old shower, but we changed that and had the company do it instead. MAKE SURE that you get a detailed/itemized bill. The old glass was to be removed & the new frameless glass was to be installed Since we were also changing out the fixtures as well, bronze clips, track, and handles were ordered as part of the installation. It was determined that I would need a clip/clamp on the corner to support the glass as the piece was quite large - that was to be an additional charge. The worker was courteous and knowledgeable. About the EuroShield: Initially, we were told that you pay for the EuroShield by "piece" - how many pieces of glass would be needed. We were to have 3 pieces of glass but were charged as though we had 4. When we questioned that, the "story" changed a bit, and we were told that the "pieces" were determined by size. Regardless,if you have hard water, you definitely want this, but we felt like we paid for an extra piece of glass. About the clamp: we were told that it was needed for stability and that it would be an additional cost. Again, get a fully itemized bill - below will better explain why.

They were wonderful. We are a long way away from that company. It is about 40 miles from where we live. They said that they would come out and put in the doors we ordered them. The three doors came in last week. One of them had a flaw and they had to send it back. So we thought that we wouldn’t be having the doors until after Thanksgiving and we had company. They came out here yesterday to put in the two doors that were good. That was great. They went out of their policy and did it for us. They were very accommodating and I was very pleased with them.
