This company is complete garbage and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. I wish I could give negative stars because they aren't even worth a 1 star rating. I'm a first time home buyer and have never gone through a natural disaster before and have never had to deal with insurance after a disaster. I bought my home 5 months before the tornado came through Norman at 9pm on February 26th. At 11am on February 27 barely 12 hours after the storm people are walking around the neighborhood trying to get you to sign with them. A couple guys came up and asked if I was okay and started asking me questions about my roof and if I have filed a claim yet. Then asked me to sign a paper that allowed them to talk to the insurance company. THEY DID NOT SAY AT ANY POINT IT WAS A CONTRACT. And as I said I've never gone through this before so I don't know better. This company says they strive for great communication, and they do, for the first week. Then you're lucky if you hear from them again. And before this company tries to reply and say they contacted me here and here, I have screenshots that show exactly when I was contacted, how many times, how long the calls were, and texts between people in the office. I had a few missed called in the beginning before I knew I was under contract and should have called back. Since I hadn't heard from them in over a week I decided to look into a different company for repairs. I then get a call from this company a couple days later stating I am under contract and cannot go with anyone else. And "they would have people out tomorrow to start repairs." Mind you this is already 3+ weeks after the storm. Well no one came the next day, they came 2 days later, with no warning or heads up that I would be having this work done. Then I try to set up a time to call and go through my insurance claim and the company estimate and we fought with insurance forever. We finally get all we need and then trying to set up a meeting with this company is like eating soup with a fork. I eventually started calling the office and leaving complaints about the integrity of their company and asking for calls back. No one ever called. About month later I get an email with an invoice, that was completely wrong, and in responding to them, asking for a call to sort things out, they never sent an email back, they never called, they just mailed out a new invoice. I still have things not done that they said they were going to do and now I have to find different companies to complete the work they didnt. Then they continued to mail invoices without any other contact until they were paid. This company is a joke, their work is a joke. Please, if you value your time, good work, and trusting people. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I am writing this review in hopes that it will save someone else a little aggravation due to the complete lack of customer satisfaction in the world today. It is a little long but I wanted to describe this event in detail so you can see how this was a major issue and not simply a one-off incident from an upset individual because of minor things. In late April 2021 we had one of the worst hail storms I have been through which caused damage to my home and truck. As expected, the neighborhood was swarmed with roofing companies wanting to represent us against the evil insurance companies and take care of our roof. A sales representative from Str8up Roofing (which is a local company) stopped by. After talking to him we agreed to have Str8up fix my roof and discuss additional items I would like to have quoted. I also stated I wanted to wait until after storm season which is generally May to July. He said no problem and that a representative would be contacting me to schedule a time to discuss my needs and when I would like to start. This is where things take a turn. The following Monday a truck shows up with roofing materials to be dropped off. I told the driver I was not accepting the materials because I have not talked to the company yet. I called Str8up and spoke with their VP. I informed him of my discussion with the sales person and how I wanted to wait a couple months for a little insurance so that I do not have to replace my roof again incase another storm comes through. (Keep in mind brand new homes were built in my neighborhood weeks before which required new roofs). The VP tried to tell me there is no storm season in Oklahoma because we get storms all the time (paraphrasing). All though this is true, anyone that lives here can tell you the majority of destructive storms come from May to June. I informed him that regardless of this I do not wish to proceed until August. He continued to be argumentative and deny my wishes and told me the sales person would contact me to go over a schedule. I was going out of town that afternoon hunting and did not carry my phone. Two days later I get a picture from my wife showing the materials had been dropped off against my wishes. I had to cut my trip short and return home. When I contacted the VP again on my way home, he continued to try and bully me into having them work my roof instead of respecting my wishes. I asked him to remove the items from my driveway and schedule the work for sometime in August. This went on for 10 minutes when I agreed to meet him in his office the next day. Same story another day, the VP continued to attempt to sway me into getting my roof repairs complete before I wished because they had ordered the materials and dumped them in my driveway blocking access to my garage. After several minute of back and forth we agreed they would remove the materials from my driveway and perform the work in August as I had originally requested. He told me he would call me back that evening to confirm the details. I never received a call that day or the following days. I called the sales associate back and informed him I did not wish to do business with a company that disregards the wishes of the customer for their own profit, he apologized and informed the VP. I promptly received a return call from the sales associate who told by the VP was talking to the president and he would call me back. The president calls me and goes into the same tactics as the VP and went straight into why they should complete my roof and at no time did the president or vise-president of Str8up care about my wishes and only themselves and the inconvenience their bad business practices caused themselves. I was given the excuse that the materials could not be returned to the vendor because of the backlog in roofing materials and that they had no storage space to put them. I find this highly unlikely. Even if it were fact, it was not my problem. I did not ask for the materials to be delivered when in fact I specifically told them I did not want this done until August. Against my better judgement I told him they could do the work the next day so I could get rid of the materials blocking my driveway. He said the crew would be there the next day between 6:30 and 7:00 am and he would be here to personally see to it. The crew showed up at 6:10 and did not even have the curtesy to say they were here. They got on the roof and started tearing it off with my wife’s brand new 30K car sitting in the driveway below the roof line. They replaced my roof vents with electric ones and did not wire them up. Insurance paid for replacement of flashing and they just painted the old. Other shady things happened that I will not write about. Just be aware before you sign anything to get a quote from a contractor before they talk to an insurance company and get in writing their detailed scope of work and timeline. No matter what the cost they will ensure it equals the insurance estimate, and in most cases, go back after the insurance company for more. My insurance company has always done right by me and do not enjoy listening to a company I am employing talk about another one like they are doing me a service. I did search the company on the Better Business Bureau site and other review sites and they were mostly good with a few negative comments about bullying and money issues. I never once questioned the quality of work but I highly question their business practices.

Well finally got the roof paid for after having to travel up to STR8 UP to get the whole thing taken care of. I had signed an contract with them for the RCV or repair cost value and instead of them wanting to abide by that contract they wanted to charge me even more wanting to cover their profit and taxes even though they knew I was tax exempt. It took two weeks of phone calls and when I would not agree to their price I would get "I will see what I can do and call you back by end of business" or "I will call you tomorrow" and then I would never get a call back. So I finally made the 100 mile round trip which they told me would not be necessary to get it all taken care of. I had called for the manager/owner and even sent emails and got no response from them and when I showed up the agent still tried to get me to cover half their profit and taxes. This is not a good company they did a good job on repairing the roof but other than that they are a pain to deal with. They even punctured my gas line that I paid for and sent them a copy of the bill and have not heard anything on that well and probably wont.

They were late getting our roof done and because our insurance messed up on the check and was in the process of resubmitting a correct check payment, they call five different places and told them that we were not paying our bill. Also, an extremely rude and unprofessional lady called and threatened me. This all took place only two weeks after they finished the job. I was thoroughly embarrassed because they treated us like criminals and slandered us for something that was out of our control.

They did a good job. They did a great job on the roof, but gutters were supposed to be included and they didn't do them. But the guy that we had explained the gutter job to quit on them, so it was a different guy who actually did it, and the result was it didn't work out quite the way we expected. They did good, but it was more hassle than I had hoped. But the roof itself, it was no problem.

Description of Work: Absolutely wonderful! I would highly recommend David Burgoyne and Straight Up Roofing in Carmel, Maine. Burgoyne was very easy to work with: I live in Montana and needed a new roof completed on a family home in Bangor, Maine. He and his crew came when he said they would, worked efficiently and kept me posted on their progress with photos taken at each step of the process. His rates were very fair for the excellent work he did! A+++

Description of Work: Last year I contacted about a half dozen roofing contractors about reshingling my roof. None of the estimates I received addressed everything that I wanted done. I wanted impact-resistant shingles installed to meet higher than normal wind-resistance standards. Normally, shingles are installed with only the tabs along the eaves stuck down and three nails holding each shingle down. Higher wind-resistance requires that the tabs be stuck down around the perimeter of the roof and four or more nails hold down each shingle. Starter strips are commonly used around the perimeter to hold down the tabs. I also wanted enough low-profile vents installed to bring ventilation up to current code. The estimates I received lacked specifics. Not all of them addressed removing the two layers of old shingles on the roof. None of the estimates specified impact-resistant shingles. One estimate specified "high-grade shingles," whatever those are. The number of vents to be installed varied from four to six. Needless to say, I didn't hire a roofer last year. I wasn't looking forward to renewing my search for a roofer this Spring. I didn't have to go searching for a roofer, one came to me. STR8 UP Roofing & Construction was replacing the shingles on a house down the block from me. Jaron Sizemore, one of their Sales Reps, apparently saw the crappy roof on my house and rang my doorbell. He asked if he could give me an estimate on redoing my roof. I said "Yes" and explained what I wanted. He said he'd get his ladder and make some measurements. After making the measurements, he asked to get into the attic to look at the roof decking. After inspecting the decking and some further discussion, he said he'd call to schedule a time to drop off the estimate. Two days later, Jaron called and came by with the estimate. He pointed out one item that we had not previously discussed - installing a cricket on the up-slope side of my 5-foot wide chimney to divert water around the chimney. I agreed that it was a good idea since water pooling at the chimney had gotten up under the shingles leading to leaks inside and dry-rot of some deck boards. The remainder of the estimate contained something I hadn't seen in the estimates I received last year - DETAILS! Remove two layers of shingles. Inspect deck. Repair, as necessary. Install Ice & Water Shield in valleys. Install starter strips. Install synthetic felt underlayment. Replace pipe flashing. Install six low-profile vents. Install Class 4 Shingles & Ridge Cap. The last item above included the manufacturer and product names. The estimate was beautiful. It left no doubt in my mind as to what the company was going to provide. The estimated price was about 65% of the highest estimate that I received last year. I had no trouble signing the paperwork. Installation was originally scheduled for March 3rd, but rain postponed it until March 7th. The threat of rain on March 7th postponed it until March 10th. At about 7:15 AM on March 10th, the crew knocked on my door to let me know that they were beginning work and that it would be getting noisy. I finished my coffee and then went out to see what was going on. They had spread tarps around the house to catch anything falling off the roof. There was a large trailer backed up to my garage so that the old shingles being removed could be dropped directly into it. There was a pallet next to the trailer containing all the new material to be installed. The new material was exactly as specified in the estimate. I did not watch the entire installation. With what I saw of the installation and my research over the past year, I believe I got a quality installation of quality products. My new roof looks great. By about 4:15 PM March 10th, I had a new roof, my yard was cleaned up, my patio and driveway were swept. A few days after the new roof went on, I called my insurance company to update their info on my house. I found that the new roof was going to save me $300/year on my home owner's insurance. Am I a Happy Camper? "Happy" doesn't begin to describe how I feel. I'm ecstatic! If you need a new roof, get an estimate from STR8 UP Roofing & Construction. I whole-heartedly recommend these folks.

Description of Work: They did a non solicited contact with me and suggested I get my roof re shingled due to multiple hail impacts that had occurred over time since the house was built approx. 10 years ago. In conclusion, the work was quality but logistically the scheduling was anything but consistent. Minimal out of pocket expense since they worked with insurance company. Over all, I am happy with the final product/service but the company needs to concentrate on organization.

The project took way too long - began with signed contract 10/1/14, not completed until 4 months later, primarily because of delays in getting the fence painted satisfactorily, and having to remind the foreman Mr. David Scott repeatedly to finish the screens and return them to us (the first time they came back bent and warped). The subcontractor who painted the fence just slopped paint on the fence without having properly sanded and primed the wood. This was very unprofessional, and it took many weeks for Mr. Scott to find an alternate painter who could do a satisfactory job. The screen job was simply embarrassing. The gutter job was also not done to our satisfaction, because large portions of the house were not even guttered, and some of those that were had not been seamed tightly and/or did not use the right size downspouts to avoid spillage. The only part of the job that was done with great professionalism was the roof tile work. My suggestion is that you not ask this company to do anything other than roofing work, or else find a foreman who can stay on the job and assure both good work and prompt response to customer concerns. The job started well with Mr. Scott when he actually stayed on the job site, but after a couple of weeks, personal issues got in the way of his job performance, and that's when everything started to go downhill.
Description of Work: Removed roof shingles, installed Tamko high grade shingles, solar attic fan, gutters & downspouts, seal & paint wood fence and repair window screens all damaged by insurance-covered hailstorm.

Skyler and Brad came to our house to see if we were interested in a no-risk consultation. We said we were, but assured them that based on the last roof inspector, they would probably not find anything worth pursuing. They did, however, and showed us the proof. Following this, they made contact with our inspection company to have an inspector take a look; they also made sure they were here when he was. As it turned out, we did need a total roof replacement! They walked us through everything with great clarity and understanding, keeping us abreast of what was going on, when it would take place, and just how much it would cost. Because they were so adamant about the condition of the roof, we were able to get it completely taken care of - all we had to do was pay the deductible. They were knowledgeable, helpful, and courteous. I would recommend them to a friend and use them again myself.
Description of Work: Complete inspection and replacement of roof; initiated contact with insurance company, made sure they were present for the inspection, and kept us aware of all the goings on regarding our roof replacement. Also made sure roof fixtures (e.g., vent caps, etc.) were not only replaced, but were a matching color to the roof.

We were happy with them. They gave us a good price. They worked well with our insurance company which was a good trick. They did a good job except that the guy that they had hired to do the gutter either quit or had been fired so the one we explained it all to was not the one that came out to do the work. But they fixed it without charging us anything extra. It was a time when a lot of people were needing roof jobs so they couldn't come out that very day but that wasn't their fault. The price was acceptable.

The contractors for Str8Up Roofing and Construction were the best. They explained the procedure in detail so I would know what to expect before the application, during and after. Samples of the shingles were supplied with the performance ratings and price differential of each. They worked with my insurance representative to get the best reimbursement for us. The crew was on time, were professional and did an exceptional job. We were also very pleased with the clean-up. The project manager was on site often checking the progress. We highly recommend this company and would definitely hire them in the future.

Once we got our first heavy rain we realized we had a roof leak. We called them and they didn't show up until 3 days later. Once they got here, they didn't even ring our door bell to let us know they were here, they just got on the roof and told us after that they had in fact not sealed the roof correctly. They then let us know they "thought" they fixed the problem. We then realized later that we had issues with the roof leaking around the chimney. I am contacted them today to let them know about this.

I called Str8 Up after an unsatisfactory job from another roofing company. (My parents had been pleased with a roof from Str8 Up earlier this year). Their voicemail box was full, which I found discouraging, but they returned my call after a couple of hours simply based on Caller ID. I explained the situation, and because he was nearby, Skyler offered to meet me at the Norman property within 30 minutes. He and his associate spent an hour at the house, looking over the roof, climbing in the attic, taking pictures and offering advice. Their evaluation of the roof installation confirmed my opinion that it was a shoddy job (review on that company to follow). The situation with the other company has yet to be resolved, but should we need a different roofer, we will seriously consider contacting Str8 Up for an estimate and possible installation.
Description of Work: At my request, they evaluated roof installation from another roofing company. Climbed on roof, took pictures. Got in attic, took pictures. Advised on quality and status of roof.
