Roto-Rooter

Description of Work: I found this company on Angie's List and called them because of a burst frozen pipe in a vacant duplex that was undergoing rehabilitation. Two young men arrived on time, were courteous and went right to work under the building. They located the leaking pipe, repaired it and turned the water on to see if the leak was fixed. Then they discovered there were multiple leaks throughout the building. I was told with that many leaks that it would be cheaper to re-pipe the building rather than to chase down the individual leaks. The estimate to re-pipe was $5,500. My first thought was that I should get another estimate, and I just had them install shut-off valves under the house. Some weeks later, I called another plumbing company I found on Angie's List, Stan's Plumbing, and told them of my problem. Stan came out himself and after looking at the pipes told me that usually with frozen copper pipes there will be about 3-4 areas where the pipes will burst, and that it was not necessary to re-pipe the entire building. His workman arrived and repaired all of the water pipes in building for $470.63. To the benefit of the young workmen from Roto Rooter located at 3120 S. Ann Arbor, I don't feel they intended to create a $5,500. job for themselves, but I feel it was a lack of experience with this type of plumbing problem. Fortunately for me, Stan did have the experience and saved me a great deal of money.
