They were great. They provided us with all the insurance required by our business, got all the permits necessary. They were here when they said they would be. The job was clean and organized. They did a great job and it looks excellent. I would highly recommend them for any concrete work.

They were great! The owner showed up twice upon request and went over everything with us in detail. We signed the contract and they showed up on time (early) every day and listened to our input on how we wanted it to be laid out. David Riley obtained the city permit, discussed the job with the city engineers and ensured it is all done to code. Mike and Jose are very hard workers and also nice guys. I don't think they ever took a break. The job took 3 1/2 days and it looks great! I highly recommend these guys and David Riley is a professional in this business.

The work looked good when it was done. It was cold so they put a cover over it for the night. However, after about three months the driveway started falling apart. That top layer that was smooth is peeling off and exposing the rocks right below the surface of the smooth top. It appears now that I will have to have the part they did resurfaced by some other company before the entire drive is beyond use. My granddaughter can not even skate on the surface anymore since it is so unlevel and dangerous. It was freezing weather when it was poured and that could have caused some of the problem, which should be the responsibility of the company to either not pour cement when conditions are not correct or fix the problem if they take the chance. The owners said that the problem was probably the use of ice melting substance that states it does not damage concrete and did not do any damage to the half of my driveway that was poured by another company the year before. I have used similar material on driveways for decades and never had it make the material fall apart. After discussing the problem with the owners, I found that they do not guarantee their work at all. They said for another $2500.00 they would resurface the driveway, however it is not guaranteed to stay on either. Not something I want to do given the past experience with their work. I would not recommend this company to anyone!
Description of Work: Poured portion of a driveway to make to circular rather than just straight into the garage. It is very easy to see the portion done Riley and that done by another company.

Response from Riley Concrete LLC
We placed thermally insulated blankets on the entire drive the day before we poured and for every day in which the temperature dropped below freezing for the next 5 days. The day we poured the concrete, January 23, 2013, the customer states that it was freezing weather. The actual temperature that day was near 70 degrees. Riley Concrete does not pour concrete unless the temperature is 42 degrees and rising. The customer called David Riley, owner, and he went to inspect the drive. The customer admitted to Mr. Riley that he had placed ice melt on the driveway. Mr. Riley explained that the damage on the driveway was consistent with a driveway that has had ice melt applied to it. The customer said that he had put it over the entire driveway and the old driveway had suffered no damage. Mr. Riley informed him that new concrete was more susceptible to damage than old concrete. (Homeowner began applying ice melt within the first two months of the pour.) To further investigate the cause of the spalling, Mr. Riley had a Dolese representative come and look at the drive. After looking at the batch ticket and examining the driveway, the Dolese representative came to the same conclusion as Riley Concrete, that the ice melt that had been used was the cause of the spalling. The customer conveyed that he understood the situation and wanted to have the driveway repaired. Riley Concrete provided an emailed quote for the resurfacing of the driveway. When the quote was higher than the customer anticipated, he began to question the quality of the original work performed. While it saddens us that the customers driveway has spalling, we feel that this is in no way caused by the concrete mix, placement, or temperature during placement, but by the chemicals the customer used on the concrete during the snow and ice.

The patio looks horrible. We're very disappointed. We saw several good reviews for Riley concrete on Angie's list and felt confident picking them to do the work, but we now question the legitimacy of those reviews, and have lost a lot of confidence in Angie's list in the process. Our back doors and windows all open to the patio so we had a very good view of this company's workmanship and work ethic. They cut corners every single day. It wasn't as bad when the owner was here supervising, although it wasn't ever very good when he was here either. Every day that the owner left to go do something else, afterwards the crew would cut corners and work sloppily. I would have to call the owner and send him pictures of the sloppy work. They would then try to fix it the next day, but with concrete many of the cut corners were/are set in stone. I would describe the workmanship as brutish, unskilled, and sloppy. These guys are definitely NOT craftsmen. One of the last times they came out to try to fix issues with the stain they applied another coat of sealant. We noticed the owner taking photos right after applying this sealant when it was still wet and glossy. We wonder if this is how they take all of the photos for their website. After the clear sealant dried, the same issues remained, but we think those issues wouldn't show up very well in those photos because of the gloss of the wet sealant. Issues with the concrete: Literally a boot print in our patio from one of the crew members (which got an extra coat of stain making it extra visible). There are several places where you can easily see the seam between stamps. There is a dip right in front of the drain they installed where water ponds every time it rains. Issues with the drainage pipe and channel drain: They had to come work to fix the drain pipes and connections to the downspouts 3 separate times because they kept leaking. The channel drain is uneven and there are gaps between the drain and the concrete that just look sloppy and bad. The gutter downspout connections to the drain pipes they installed look like someone did it for the first time ever and not professionally done AT ALL. They fixed one of the downspout connections the last time they came out to attempt to fix things, but the other one is set in the concrete crooked and I guess there's nothing that can be done about it now. They initially installed the pop-up emitter in the wrong place and had to come back and fix it. They used drainage pipe that was much too small the first time and when they came back to fix that problem their solution was to dig a trench in my yard and install a separate pop-up emitter in the middle of my yard without even discussing it with me. I came home just in time to talk them into installing bigger pipes and sticking to the drainage plan we agreed on. Issues with the concrete stain: The first time they stained the concrete it looked nothing like the picture on the Riley Concrete website we used to pick our stain color. When we asked about it, we were told that he didn't pour the concrete in that particular picture on his website but he just stained it and that was the reason ours looked nothing like the picture. The owner left the original sealing job to his crew who rushed the job and applied the sealant over moisture on the concrete which caused the sealant to turn white in places. We had them come back to fix it and rather than simply applying more clear sealant, they removed and added color which turned out to be a horrible idea. The patio now has several clearly visible splotches where you can see they added color. The biggest splotch is right in the middle of our patio. The last time they came to try to work on the ridiculous color splotches they didn't cover their work and the wind coated the wet spots with pollen. It looks horrible. Because every time they had tried to fix an issue with the stain on the patio it ended up looking worse, we told the owner that we would rather him not work on the splotches again. But, he said that he wanted to try to work on it again and if it didn't end up looking better, he would come back again and try to make it right. It ended up looking much worse after he worked on it last. I sent him a picture and let him know that we did not think it turned out to look better and his response via text was, "it seems like the more I mess with it the worse it gets." He hasn't returned any communication or come by since sending me that text. Initially, we were encouraged by the fact that the owner would come back out and at least attempt to correct the issues every time. But most of the time their attempts to fix the issues either created other issues or made the original issues worse. It now appears they have given up on making any more attempts at fixing the problems they created. Bottom line, we would never use this company again. We would not recommend this company to anyone. We are very disappointed with the outcome of the work and will have to hire another person to try to fix the mistakes made by this company.
Description of Work: Removed our old concrete patio and poured a new one with a stamp and stain. Also installed drainage pipes from the downspouts to a channel drain and a pop-up valve emitter on the side of our home.

Homeowner quoted that “workmanship was brutish, unskilled, and sloppy. It seems the homeowner has never been in the construction field and has little knowledge about concrete construction. On the first day of work, the crew removed the existing patio, formed up the new patio and dug the drainage ditch. The pipe was placed in the ditch, to be completed the following day. Homeowner called the owner on the first day stating the drain was not installed properly. Owner informed him that the drain wasn’t installed improperly; it was that the drain wasn’t done yet. We would complete it the next day. Homeowner stated the channel drain is uneven, there are gaps between the drain and the gutter downspout connections are not professionally done. The drain is flush with the concrete on both sides. There are no gaps. He mentioned a dip in front of the drain where water ponds. The homeowner was told prior to the beginning of the job that stamped patios are suspect to have small areas where water will hold. This is an expected characteristic of stamped concrete. It was also explained that color variations are expected with a stamped surface. The owner of Riley Concrete answered every phone call and returned several times to attempt to make the homeowner satisfied with the job.

This is a family owned business. Their workers are actually happy to work for them, and are knowledgeable and professional. The work was performed perfectly, but there were some issues, none of which were caused by Riley Concrete, but by the company who did the original pour when the house was built. Due to how the existing concrete was poured, it was not properly sloped, which made extending it a challenge. Water pooled already, and adding concrete in the correct way ensured it would only pool more. After seeing how badly it pooled, Riley Concrete offered to install a drain at no additional cost. We now have a very large parking area, suitable for the parties we have. No more parking on the lawn!
Description of Work: Extended an existing parking area outside our garage to better accommodate hosting parties. Added and moved dirt to ensure water no longer washed out existing concrete, or covered our drive with silt.

After we pointed out to them that the estimate was to remove the old concrete, they reduced the price from $3,600 to $2,400 because we showed them other bids we had received to just pour over the old concrete for $2,400. After they poured the concrete, it chipped in several places and they patched it with another color concrete, so the patches are very evident. Finally, our sprinkler system was damaged while they installed drains during this project and this will have to be repaired before it can be used in the spring. Overall, they seemed to be in a hurry to just get the job done and rather than do it right.
Description of Work: Gave us an estimate for $3,600 to tear out our old concrete patio and replace it with new concrete, however when they started the job they were just going to pour the new concrete over the old concrete and not tear out the old.

David Riley came to discuss the project with us personally. He was very responsive to our ideas and had some great suggestions for us throughout the project. We have an unlevel backyard, and he was able to design and build the patio in a way that managed the changes in elevation. David and his crew were professional and courteous, worked every day, and finished the work in a couple of weeks. The stamp design he applied looks like natural stone. We could not be happier with the results! We would definitely use Riley Concrete again and recommend him to others.

All went well. No surprises. Riley's cleaned it one day and sealed it the next. I would have preferred that they power-washed it but they hosed it down and swept it off. The sealing brought back most of the original stainng excpet in places that were well worn from not having sealed it in 6 years. Overall I am satisfied.

Came out quickly to a**** the requested job and provided a timely estimate for cost and date for work to be completed. The spring rains caused a delay but that was not the company's fault. The work was completed timely and for the estimated price. The crew was friendly and professional. They did not simply build forms, pour concrete and wait for it to dry. They made some excellent recommendations while they were building forms that made the patio more sturdy (at no extra cost) then worked the concrete as it was drying to make it stronger. I will be building a barn later this summer and will have them back to do the concrete work for it.

We had a very good experience with this company. David responded quickly with an estimate, we set a date, & they arrived on time to do the job. The job took basically 3 days. The crew removed our old driveway, built forms and put down sand. The next day they poured the concrete & the following day scored the sections. David answered all of our questions about the proper pitch of the driveway and diverting water to the french drain. David made all the arrangements with the city for the permit and the inspection. Everyone on the crew was friendly & very professional. They did a wonderful job & I would use them again in the future.

David Riley came out and did an estimate and was on time and pleasant to work with. I picked him because of his price and good impression. He and his crew broke up the old pool deck slab, they hauled it off, dug trenches for the 6 inch drainage pipe I had requested to drain my backyard. The house had substantial damage from water standing around the house and getting into the house. Water had ruined wood floors inside of the house. They installed the new drainage pipes and drains, connected the downspouts to the drains and poured and finished the new pool deck. Mr. Riley managed to match the existing rock salt finish that was on the old pool deck that I retained. He and his crew cleaned up the yard and the job looked great when they finished.

David listened to what we were envisioning and helped us decide how the new patio's needed to be done. He is very particular and worked to get all of the job formed up right and to get it done to our satisfaction. The job turned out even better than we had hoped and we were completely pleased with the work that was done. We wouldn't be afraid to recommend them to anyone looking for any type of concrete work...decorative or not.
Description of Work: They tore out our old patios and sidewalks and then poured 2 new, larger patios. The new patios were poured on 2 levels (at their recommendations) and they look great! They formed and poured 2 sets of stairs and a 50 foot long reinforced retainer wall. They stamped, stained, and sealed all the concrete. It looks even better than we imagined!
