Great!!!!

It was a total nightmare. He swore to me that he would be finished by Oct. 15th (work started on Sept. 1, 2008) as I had a house guest arriving on Oct. 17th. By Oct. 15 he hadn't put one drop of primer or paint on ANYTHING!!! His worker over-sanded everything which created a filthy mess that went on and on and on. He made excuses when I told him he needed more than one person to prep by saying, "I can't find people I can count on." I told him that he was the contractor and that was his responsibility but he didn't listen and didn't care about the fact that, because this went on soooo long, I got sick and my cat got sick from breathing in all the dust and filth for weeks on end. The "coupe de grace" was, when I confronted him about the fact that he was (at that time) SIX WEEKS OVER HIS STATED COMPLETION DATE, he said that it was my fault???!! This was such a pathetically lame justification that I fired him on the spot. I always paid him on time, packed and moved contents and furniture from areas, made sure he always had plenty of paint, etc. I told him that he had just lost any credibility he had left by trying to blame me for his lack of professionalism, lack of communication, poor contractor skills, etc. and I told him to pack up his stuff and get out.
