they started to work around 10am each dayand worked until 4-4:30 -- finished in 2 days
Description of Work: good company - due to hard summer we had here, it took them longer to do the work because they were so busy. Once we got the ball in motion, it only took them 2 days to put in 15 piers -- it looks like nothing was done to my house, because they filled in all the holes, etc.Great job

I guess every now and then some customers go awry and a small mistake becomes a major disaster for that customer. The question then becomes, will they step up and take responsibility for it? After months of researching flooring companies (including joining Angies list), we chose Permalift to stabilize the flooring in our 100 plus year old home. Stabilize. To move some heavy furniture in; that it. We were told to schedule two days, August 27th & 28th. They showed around 9 something am and by the time I was home a little after 11am they were 'done'. Done doing the one thing, the ONE thing we didn't want; which was to try and level the floors in a 100 year old wood frame home. I could have cried when I saw the structure damage on the east wall. To make a long long long boring story short, I recorded the conversation with Gregg where he admits he didn't talk to his crew that day on this job since he was out of town. The best part of course is when, 15 minutes later, he starts to tell me maybe its my fault it all happened since I wasn't there till 11 am..... Never mind they are the professional company paid for expertise. Never mind they had us schedule out two days and did the damage in 2 hours. Never mind they moved the walls. Its not their fault; its mine. I don't even know how to explain a company would even try and put that on a customer; it is shady and speaks of a lack of something.... The whole experience was about the worst I've dealt with in companies and leaves me nothing but a sad sense of loss. I have no idea how much it will end up costing to stabilize the wall; we'll wait for the reports. I wish now we'd gone with the company for 1000 to just put concrete blocks under the house from Home Depot. How sad is that? It took them almost 2 months to get out and fix a tiny part of the mistake. I was out one week in that time at a conference and they actually tried to blame that scheduling on my again...funny; cause I was always calling them. They get F's because in the end, they didn't step up to the plate and fix it or even really try and fix it. I could tell I was in a pain in the a$$ for them. I could also tell they never checked the paperwork; I never signed the arbitration clause and have one year from date of service to make a decision on what to do about the structure damage. PS Stop calling women 'honey'; their parents took all that time and trouble to name them for a reason.

Really?? We have worked on hundreds of 100 year old houses,so yours wasn't the first? As I explained to you before we did any work we will have to lift to take pressure off the leaning and sunken supports to straighten them back up, during the process we caused 2 small cracks through out the entire house, and we caused structural damage??? I hate to say but all your structural damage was already there prior to us ever doing any work, because of all of the settling that had occurred over the last 100 years, unfortunately it had all been covered up from the person you bought the house from.not from lifting and straightening up your supports, yes we caused 2 new cracks during this process, but it states in our paper work that these things can and do occur during our lifting and stabilizing process,so 2 new cracks is really good compared to others that we have done, I even sent someone out to fix your cracks for you,in which we normally don't do and you said all was fine after the cracks were repaired, I believe we took care of the support issues you had and any issues you say we caused and you paid us according to our agreement, We take pride in the work we do,we take care of our customers like we have done over the last 10 years. So to give us a F rating is really unfair to our company and the hard working men and women that take such pride in the work they do, I believe that all the other reviews that we have received from other Angie list members speaks for itself about Permalift and its employees, I do apologize if we didn't meet or exceed your expectations. .

Added ten lifts/piles. On time and very customer oriented including walk thru inspection after work completed and a customer survey. The crew was very respectable and made sure customer property was not abused. I had additional questions for the manager, Greg, who came to the house again. All questions were answered and no issues. While here, he inspected the crew's work and found a few very slight imperfections ( I would never have noticed the issues). He had the same crew return to make additional improvements (no costs). Overall, very satisfied and would recommend to anybody.
Description of Work: Added 10 piles to raise foundation to address sunken foundation. Also found cracked floor that required additional work by separate contractor, who also did a great job.

Salesperson (Greg) came by and gave us a blow by blow account of what was happening to the dwelling and discussed what we could do to stablize the house. Living on cul de sac, a lot of pressure after 40 years takes its toll on the foundation. The crew arrived on the specific date and finished up the same date (on foundation). Concrete crew had to come back next day to complete the expansion joints. Everything went well and clean up was as represented by the sales pitch. A very professional and complete work ethic by the foundation installers and concrete crew. Very pleased with results. The 10% discount was eaten up with additional concrete work that we requested at the time of service. All in all, a great experience on our part and I hope the company's.

They did the work last October and now the peers need adjustment. I can not get them to take my phone calls. When they did the work they were very good and very efficient. It came with a lifetime warranty so they are supposed to come back out if the peers need adjustment. Our peers now need adjustment and I can't get them on the phone. I would use them again.

I was impressed with the education I received during the estimate and that they gave a Angie's List member discount. The work started on a Thursday and was supposed to finish before the weekend, but the foreman broke his finger on the second day. The pace of work slowed significantly after the crew lost their foreman, which was definitely understandable. At the end of the day on Friday my wife was told the work was done by the acting foreman. When I got home after work I noticed that the basement support poles were not installed. I called the office and setup for them to come back at 9 am on the next Tuesday. They had not showed up by noon so I called to check and was told they would be there in the afternoon instead. The crew was still without their foreman and took a lot longer than they first estimated to install the basement poles. Overall the workmanship was good, the price was fair, and they did a good job of cleaning up. The punctuality was not great, but I think losing the foreman had a lot to do with it.
Description of Work: They installed 4 piers in soil, 9 pad and blocks, and 2 basement support poles (adjustable metal poles). They also re-shimed the floor.

After the initial visit and estimate I was supposed to get a call the next day to schedule the work. I waited a week and then called them. After playing telephone tag a number of times, and the crew failing to appear for two scheduled days, they finally did the work. They left quite a large mess. I ignored the large mound of dirt for a month. I finally called and was told that the area was left that way so the dirt "could settle". I took the position that the dirt had already settled and that a mess remained. They were, however, steadfast in their position. The final final discussion terminated with my being hung up on. I immediately called back only to get a recording. I explained that I had been civil and that I thought their actions were uncalled for. I did receive a voice mail message the next day indicating the individual thought the conversation was over and that they did not mean to hang up on me. The bottom line was that I was left to clean up their mess, which I did. I am in no position to judge the quality of their actual work. I can only assume that they are professionals and that they did the job correctly. What I can judge is their customer service and their ability to communicate with the customer and in that area they receive a failing grade, based on my experience.

I am a realtor so I have used them a few times. The only problem I have had is that they forgot about me and I had to reschedule a couple of times but they are good at what they do, compared to other companies in the area that I am not happy with. The responsiveness of the people who answer the phone is not so good and the professionalism of everyone is good except for the people in the office.

Arrived on time and was done by 2 pm. Installed 10 piers. Very professional- I was asked to perform a survey about my experience. Overall work was done but ran into issues beyond the crew's control. Dirt was dug and placed on plywood to make clean up quick and easy. Follow up visit was performed and additional work was needed to complete the job. Additional work was done by same crew as expected, as scheduled and totally completed. Also completed another survey!

Our 50+ year old house had settled enough that there were several cracks in the walls including one nearly 1/2 inch wide and our patio door would only open about 12 inches wide. We had put this off because we had heard it would cost over $10,000 which we simply did not have. Imagine our delight when the estimate came in at only $2100.00. We immediately contracted with PermaLift to put in 6 piers. The crew arrived and went right to work; I was amazed at how fast they got everything done. They were very careful about the mess that would have to be made, laying large sheets of heavy cardboard to hold the dirt as they dug under the foundation of the house. Actually it was fascinating to watch what they did. After they put in the jacks we watched the cracks disappear as they jacked up the house. Some of the work was done through our concrete porch and patio. They cut right through it and then replaced it with excellent concrete work. They were careful with the landscaping and replaced the dirt when they were finished. I was really pleased when they spackled and painted the areas where the cracks had been. And perhaps best of all, our patio door opens all the way. We no longer have to go out sideways! And they did it all in one day! PermaLift gave a lifetime warranty as well - not my lifetime but the lifetime of the house! I cannot praise them enough and would definitely recommend PermaLift to anyone who has foundation work to be done!
Description of Work: PermaLift provided our house with the foundation repair that was badly needed. They put in 6 piers that lifted the house enough to close the cracks and allow the patio door to open properly. They spackled and painted the cracks that they had closed so that we didn't even need to repaint! They were careful about the landscaping and even had cardboard to hold the dirt they excavated until they completed the work. The concrete areas they had to replace were very well done.

It is a 60 year old house, and is settling. The middle of the house had a raised area. We were trying to get the house ready for sale, and the high area in the middle was worrying people. The realtor feared that it would be impossible to get a loan in today's climate with the raised area down the center of the house. She had a guy who does piers look at it, and he recommended $11K worth of piers. We called a structural engineer, and he came out and looked at the house and made recommendations. The engineer indicated that the structure above (rafters were sound, in good condition) and below was sound (joists were strong and sound), and posed no danger to anyone. He stated that the cracks in the house were a normal part of settling over time, and were cosmetic. He provided a report of things which would remedy the situation and estimated the repairs under $3k. I called Powerlift, and they came out and looked at the house. They suggested $14K worth of piers around the exterior of the house, which they would discount to $11K. They said that this would probably lead to very spongy floors (?!?! the floors aren't spongy now) They also priced the engineer's recommendation, and priced that job at $3K+. They said they would DO it, if I could sleep nights. They also warned that now that they had been to the house, I had to disclose that they had been there, and was somehow bound by what they had suggested. They would have to tell potential buyers what they recommended and that we didn't do what they said (over what the engineer suggested?). The underlying threat offended me. I had a structural engineer's report, and they sell piers. I looked elsewhere for repairs. I found a foundation repair company who found the actual cause of the raised area. About 35 years ago, in an effort to stop the cracks in the sheet rock, my dad had jacked up the center stem wall and put a board on it. When the exterior settled, this elevated stem wall wall didn't, so it caused a hump in the floor. The foundation repair guy jacked up the wall over the stem wall and took out the board. We had piers installed parallel to the stem wall down the middle just to help support the house, and had it all done for less than $2k. Naturally, there were cracks resulting from lowering the wall back down, and once patched, all is well. Had Permalift worked their magic, we'd still be battling problems. Mostly I didn't like being threatened.

They were running about 2 months behind because of the heat. We even had to reschedule because of them being so far behind. It took them 2 days and they cleaned up all around the house. Overall it turned out OK. The one thing I liked the most about this company is when they came out to give an estimate they actually crawled under my house to see what needed to be done. When I got the estimate the amount was the amount I paid. It wasn't "will this is the cost unless we find something else". That is what sold me. What I paid is what was on the estimate. They have come out twice since they actually did the job and I was not charged another dime. That to me is important. I would recommend this company because they work with you until you are happy. No hidden costs.

From the first phone call these guys provided prompt and professional service. They explained the alternatives in detail and pricing for each. The work was done promptly and as promised. It has been one year since the repair and no more cracks or signs of settling have appeared. I can recommend this company without reservation to anyone in need of foundation repair. I have never had a better experience with any contractor.
Description of Work: I don't remember how many, but we had concrete piers placed around the entire perimeter of our 1600 foot home. They also referred us to another company that shot supportive foam under the middle of our home. This foam prevented costly digging through the middle of our foundation (a Godsend!). About $10,000.00 went to Permalift and the other $5,000.00 to the other company.

I'm very pleased with result. I had originally called company to look at sagging porch due to old support post. Greg, the owner, came for estimate and indicated they could fix. After talking with him more I realized they could also do concrete repair which I had planned but thought I'd have to get another contractor. Greg gave me a very good price although I wanted to check other contractors. After checking with other companies I went with PermaLift and added some foundation piers to fix some interior wall cracks. The crew started on time and worked very hard. The foundation and pier crew were very efficient and the interior cracks were repaired. The concrete crew had the harder job and performed well. My only complaint is that they had not checked the local city inspection requirements before starting so the concrete job was held up a couple of days waiting for the inspector. The finished job looks better than I expected and I really appreciated the way they cleaned up the yard and raked out the disturbed dirt. I highly recommend this company.

I had some buckling on my tiles and a door that was stuck. I also noticed some cracks on the floor so I thought that it might be a foundation issue. They came out and found that the foundation underneath my house had rotted. It had to be replaced and reinforced and so they did that. I was really pleased with them. They actually were scheduled to come out in January. They had not received some material that they needed for the job so they asked me if I would be willing to move the schedule; I was and so they did the work for me. I think their price was good; I really had expected it to be more than $5000. I would use them in the future if required.
