They went okay. I think that their first hour of rate is like $135.00 or something and then it comes up to like $65.00 so the first hour is like I had to make the best use of them because it’s kind of expensive in the first hour. They did an okay job and the one thing that they didn’t or one of the works they did complete or didn’t complete they did come back and take care of.
Description of Work: I used Man Around The House LLC for handyman service. It was just general repairs; they corrected some cabinetry foots actually another guy who couldn’t do so they did a good job of that and just small things around the house that needed done and they took care of them.

Description of Work: Contractor did not show up for first appointment. Called them and they said that a relative dropped the ball and rescheduled..Showed up on time and was very professional. Front door was almost impossible to lock. The problem was fixed inless than 30 minutes. Door worked great for about ten days but the same problem is raising its ugly head again. The contractor has a two hour minimum charge at $65 a hour. That was agreed to prior to the job starting.

I had some soffit boards starting to delaminate or blister. Also the end of one facia board was water damaged and deteriorated. This board was on the front, apex of house. Dave came over and inspected the eve areas of house. He explained the process of fixing the water damaged areas. He submitted a quote for the repairs. Dave was on another job at the time of quote so we stayed in touch via phone regarding a start date. His crew was able to complete the work in one day. (I figured at least two days.) He replaced more soffit boards than he originally bid. (Can lights and soffit vents included). Also the new facia board, soffit groove didn't line up with the old undamaged board on front of house apex. Dave and crew removed and replaced the undamaged facia board and soffit so everyhting matched, all for the original quote. I was pleased with their work and efficency. Man Around the House was not the low bid but I was confident they had the expertise to do a good job. I wasn't disappointed and would recommend them for remodeling/construction work.
Description of Work: Remove and replace delaminated soffit boards under eve of house. Remove replace all soffit vents. Reinstall can lights. Remove and replace damaged facia board on one side of front apex.

The work took forever and I NEVER once received an invoice or any receipts for labor and materials. I wrote him a $2000.00 check which was to cover wallpapering as I had already paid $400.00 over the $1,000.00 amount I was quoted to install the jacuzzi. I paid this additional amount because he said he could have charged me $300 to $400 more to install so I paid him the additional amount in addition to cash tips and a computer monitor, printer, and cordless saw I gave him. When he finally showed up a month later after having long cashed my $2000.00....he/they were still working on the jacuzzi! His nephew wallpapered the area around the tub and vanity but not the bath or the small portion of the kitchen which the two thousand dollars was to cover. I had to have a LICENSED CONTRACTOR come in and finish the threshold and redo the jacuzzi access panel as it was NOT accessible, thus, the jacuzzi repair man could not look at my jacuzzi. He recommended another company to fix what was not done correctly which he did at a VERY REASONABLE PRICE, HE DID NOT DRAG OUT AND/OR PAD HIS HOURS. He came in finished the work gave me an invoice and even fixed my door (free of charge!!!!). Lesson learned......HIRE LICENSED CONTRACTORS WHO ARE BONDED AND INSURED as if you go with "handymen" you will end up paying a contractors fee for amateur work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: Was to wallpaper, tile, install jacuzzi and new vanity, toilet, and linen closet. He for some bizarre reason removed the frames for my mirrors so now I have to hire someone to put the frames back together. He also took the very wallpaper that was purchased for the bath and small portion of the kitchen. My 12 yr. old did warn me to get it out of there but it NEVER occurred to me he would take it when I paid for it.

Response from MAN AROUND THE HOUSE LLC
In regards to the rant that was posted 11-29-08 This job was done in November and December of 2007. Why the member made the discussion to insult my integrity eleven months after the work had been done instead of calling me to discuss these issues, I have no idea. The Jacuzzi tub was the first thing she wanted installed, while this project was under way she decided to have me tile the deck and floor in the aria. Because she added this new tile work it extended the job. Because the toilet had to be removed to tile the floor she decided to install a new one when it was time to put it back. Now we had to shop for a new toilet. This delayed the job. She pointed out that the restroom window was hard to operate and she asked me to pickup and install a new one. When I removed the old window I noticed moisture in the wall so I checked the roof and found a hole which I repaired at no extra charge. This added time. After the toilet and restroom floor was finished she then decided to purchase a new vanity and Top for the area and asked me to shop for it with her so we went and she purchased the new vanity, Vanity top, Faucets and light fixtures. This added to the time. To install the new vanity, closet and lighting to the new configuration the plumbing and electric had to be moved. This added to the time. There was enough wall paper purchased to cover the four areas in the bed-bath area that she told me to cover and no more. The Mirror frames where removed so the wall paper could be hung and she told me not to put them back because she was thinking of doing something different with that space. At that time The extra roll she is accusing me of steeling was one I purchased to see if it was what she would like in the kitchen, there was not enough to do the kitchen and I needed to seal the tile so I returned it to purchase grout seal which was used on her tile. While all this was being done I and installed a new vent hood over her range for no charge. I secured the car port so it wouldn’t sway; I put up her Christmas lights. I installed storage shelves in the spare bedroom. She did give me a battery operated reciprocating saw as a gift and am still grateful. After Christmas I took down and packed away her Christmas lights and stowed them in the spare room. There was two weeks during this time I came down with the flu and couldn’t work, I called her and let her know I was Ill, and as soon as I was able, I was back to work for her. The monetary tips she insisted I accept where greatly appreciated; IF I WAS PADDING MY TIME AND DOING SUCH A BAD JOB; WHY WAS I BEING TIPPED FOR A JOB WELL DONE? The electronics she said she gave me where donated to good will and the receipt was given to the member. I DID THIS AS A FAVOR!!! The front left side of the Jacuzzi was installed as an access panel; if she would have called me I would have reminded her or gone to her home to show her how it worked. We never agreed to paper the kitchen wall. One day on a weekend or holiday I can’t remember exactly what day it was but it was during this time, she called me and asked me to rush over and help her take their dog to the vet so I hurries over and picked up there large dog and loaded it in her SUV and drove them to the vet. The dog was unable to walk and a few days later their pet passed away. I installed a new shelf in their living room which they use as a memorial for their lost pet. The member was furnished all receipts for purchases made for the materials used for all these projects. During this time If she needed a favor I would do it for NO CHARGE Before I started I told her I was A licensed and Insured Contractor. Final note; these rants are coming from a woman who spends her days and nights drinking Gin and ice water with very little water. Some mornings I would show up for work and she would be drunk. After she dragged the job out for so long I wanted to finish and get out of there. This is why I didn’t agree to paper the Kitchen.

I was recommended to Bob a few years ago and he has done a lot of work for us. He always does a very good job, cleans up any messes he makes, and is very reasonably priced for the quality of work. He does what he says he's going to do and has never misled us about his qualifications or ability to take on a task. On top of all that, he's a really good guy. He has installed can lights throughout our house and on our front patio. He has installed 2 security lights in our yard. He has repaired various plumbing problems we've had with our sinks. He is coming back this week to install an entry door and locks between our garage and house.
Description of Work: Recessed lighting installed, Security lighting installed, Various plumbing repairs
