+ -1 moreThe plumber and his work were as good as reported on Angie's List, but being charged for a walk about that found nothing is more than annoying.
Description of Work: There was a leak in the water line that had gotten progressively worse over the past year. I have had other plumbers attempt to find the leak to no avail. I selectted Jay's Plumbing based on the reviews on Angies List to try again to find the leak. After some looking and listening the leak was still not found and the plumber recommended that I have a leak finding specialist track down the leak and he would come back an repair it. He gave me the number of a service they use and I called them. The plumber then told me there was a $70.00 charge for the service call. Usually that service call cost is rolled into the job when the come back and actually do some work, but when I received the bill Iwas told the labor charge was separate from the service call. This was particularly gauling since the 'Leak Detective' and I dug the hole down to the leak exposing the pipe. The actual plumbing part of the job was done quickly and eficiently.

+ -1 moreTerry Ritchey of Jay's Plumbing has done numerous jobs for us over the years. As always, they arrived when promised, and spent time trying to locate our water leak. Only after they checked all of the faucets, toilets, pipes that they could, did they recommend calling in the leak detectives (LD's) who have specialized equipment. It took about 3 visits for the LD's to locate the leak. That's because the leak was beneath the slab and very small. But they were able to pinpoint the exact location of the leak. Terry Ritchey of Jay's Plumbing and his assistant then used a jackhammer to open a hole in the slab, then dig up dirt until they reached the pipe. They cut out a section of the pipe that was leaking, then replaced it. After that, they filled up the hole and patched the slab with cement.
Description of Work: Due to a high water bill, we had the city check our water meter, and they advised we had a water leak somewhere. I called our long-time plumber, Terry Ritchey who owns Jay's Plumbing. He and his assistant replaced a couple of flappers on two toilets that needed replacing, then searched for the leak. They were unable to locate it, so they called in the "leak detectives" they recommend. After several attempts, the leak detectives located a very small leak under the slab in our guest bedroom. Terry and his assistant opened the foundation, replaced the section of the pipe that was leaking, then repaired the slab.
