They did the work lady year. As I recall, they found an issue with a part in the system. They did the repair at a small extra charge for the part. I was so impressed with the service the technician provided, I signed up for a year's worth of service that includes the Spring tuneup of the air conditioner.

Had new Carrier heat and air installed. Did install on time and cleaned up very well. Within a month had them back out as it seemed that it was not cooling as it should. The tech that came out found that the installer had overcharged the unit with Freon and had to let some out. Also found the new air intake box they built was not sealed well at all. He did spend a while sealing and fixing the box and there is a big difference in the way it cools now. I felt like those were kinda rookie mistakes especially on a 9000.00 dollar job. Don't think they had it inspected either like it should have been. Installer also suggested I have a vent pipe raise in the plenum and that he would ask his what they could do it for. When he came back the next day I asked if he had spoken to his boss and h said no but would be sure to speak to him the next day and some would call with the price, No one ever called.

Fan motor had burned out. Tech. replaced motor which he had to adapt because of the age of the unit. After an extended time he was able to get the motor to fit and work. The fan blades were so bent up (which was the initial problem that caused the motor to burn up)that after many attempts to straighten them it still was out of balance and if not replaced I would have had to replace the motor again. The tech replaced the fan with no additional labor cost. I am very pleased with the service I got and the professional attitude of the tech. I felt he really cared about me and my needs and was going to do everything that was needed to do the job right. I will definitely call them first if I need any heat or air work in the future.

The appointment was arranged quickly after I made my decision. They arrived on time and worked steadily and cleanly. They tried diligently to get it done in a day and a half but it took two full days. They even stayed late to get it finished. They wore booties in the house, were friendly and kept me up to speed on everything they were doing. They were great!

Very professional. Called promptly after I scheduled the appointment. Very nice guy and was very thorough with the services he needed to perform to get the A/C in working order. Even when he came into the house, he put on disposable slippers over his shoes to prevent from getting any dirt from his shoes on the carpet (I did not request this, he did it anyway).

They have done excellent work and did a wonderful job fixing my air conditioning unit. I have hired them again to do some more projects for me. They are very nice, well-mannered and provide wonderful service.
Description of Work: They came out and repaired my air conditioning unit that another company had installed improperly. I had Interstate Heating & Air Conditioning remove the bad thermostat from my wall and they replaced it with a simpler thermostat which seemed to fix everything. They had to replace a control plate for me as well.

Each different Interstate rep who came out recommended changes to our existing HVAC system ranging from 2000-5000 dollars. At the time we could not afford them so we postponed. During one of the winter cold snaps when it stayed below freezing for several days the system shut down due to frozen drainage lines. We called interstate again, because we hadn't learned yet. They rerouted the drainage system, but did so in a way that later technicians indicated could freeze and burst the pipes causing an even bigger problem. The Interstate technicians were either willfully dishonest or incompetent. Unfortunately there isn't a grade lower than "F".
Description of Work: Prior to this last service we had used Interstate several times and discovered a trend of either absolute incompetence or willfull lying about what needed to be done. Their recommendations for additonal services changed every time they came out. Luckily, this time we only had the part of the recommended services done to get the air conditioner running again since it was the middle of summer. We chose not to do the other services at that time because they differed yet again from the services recommenced by their previous representative. A week later when the air conditioner stopped working again, we decided to have a different company come and look at the system. This company said it was only a simple (inexpensive) part that needed to be replaced and that the rest of the services Interstate had recommended were not required. The second company was very professional but you could tell they were implying interstate was trying to ream us for services not needed. We then had a third company come and look at the systems and they concurred with the second company. They also said that some of the services already performed were done incorrectly and would create more problems down the line. We would NOT use interstate again if they gave us their services for free.

They were very informative and patient. They provided me with enough education to make an informed decision. There was no high pressure sales tactic. The price was reasonable for the amount of work they did. The technician did have to come back several days later to finish the work; he got sick the day he was supposed to return. But, he did return and complete the work the next day he was available. They had the old A/C hauled off and cleaned up after their work was completed. We had several people throw prices at us, but none wanted to give us a firm bid. Interstate gave a written bid, which is wonderful. The work is guaranteed and warranted. Financing is an option too. The house was/is much more comfortable. I don't feel like I want to move out of my house anymore. I highly recommend them.

Willie did a superb job of working with us to come up with the best system for our needs. He was very patient with questions and took pains to explain the technical aspects so that a layperson could understand them. He clearly was not only interested in designing the best system but in also providing the greatest value possible--he did not try to sell equipment which was not needed and which did not meet out needs. He sincerely was interested in providing us the best system but also most economical system possible. Adam and the installation team were also outstanding. Willie assisted on the first two days on installation and they consulted with each other to overcome some difficult installation issues. The entire installation crew were great--the use of shoe covers minimized dust and dirt in the house, and they took great care not to allow ceiling material to get on the floor or furniture while cutting out the roof vent holes. All of the crew worked exceptionally hours and were extremely polite. All of the staff were highly professional and willing to do whatever was needed to make the installation as hassle free as possible. In short, while having your air conditioning go out in the middle of the summer is no fun, the Interstate folks quickly jumped in and got us a great new system in the shortest possible time. All contacts with the office staff were a delight--the office folks are especially friendly and give a strong impression that they care about the quality of service provided by the company. We give this company the highest rating possible for professionalism, value, service quality, attention to detail, willingness to go the extra mile for the customer.
Description of Work: Interstate designed a complete new air conditioning and heating system for our residence, including sealing off old subfloor ducting and installing new ducting in the attic. Willie, a senior technician, designed the system including recommendations for capacity, ducting, and register size, and assisted with installation. Adam, lead installer, supervised the 3-day installation. They removed the old equipment and conduit in the attic, placed new ceiling registers, installed a new furnace and ac unit, and sealed off the old floor vents.

I am generally very happy with the quality of their work and employees. They typically show up on time, do a good job and explain everything that they did as well as answer questions. After installing a new heating and A/C system in my house 3 years ago. I had recurring problem every year or so with the coil freezing up on the inside unit. On the 3rd emergency service (3 years after installation), I scheduled a day off of work for a trainee to troubleshoot the system. After about 15 minutes, the trainee discovered that the problem was a cracked coil that had been leaking since the system had been installed. The supervisor then admitted to knowing the problem since the last visit but "he just wanted to see if the trainee could find the problem". They said they needed for order a part and schedule the install for the next week. I scheduled another day off of work the following week and they showed up with the wrong part and told me that they ordered the correct part but the company delivered them the wrong one. I think they should've verified that they had the correct part before showing up to my house. Upon discovery of having the wrong part, they drove across town and brought back the correct part an hour and a half later. Why they couldn't have done that the week before? I don't know. They finally got the system working again and all was well until I called to get refunded for the cost of the first 2 emergency services (I was not charged for the 2 subsequent troubleshooting calls visits). At first they denied that I paid for service for that problem but then agreed to refund both after "pulling the hard files" and verifying the service was related to the same problem. I then asked about the $500 frustration free guarantee on the back of the original installation proposal/agreement which promised a $500 refund if the system broke during the first 2 years of service. They first said it's really a $250 guarantee but agree that the form had since changed and mine was in fact a $500 guarantee. After an additional phone call they decided that the check box for the $500 wasn't check on my proposal/agreement and they would not honor the refund.
Description of Work: Interstate has been servicing my heat and A/C system for a number of years. They perform routine service on my system twice per year and they installed a new system 3 years ago.

After having a different company (affiliated with my home warranty) determiner my drain pan and condenser were rusted out and our furnace was leaking CO2 (furnace was 30 years old, A/C was 15) we determined we were going to have to replace the A/C and furnace. A vent inspection showed there were breaks in the floor ducts but nothing had collapsed yet; we went ahead and opted to seal up floor vents and move all the duct work over head. I got 4 bids, interstate was the last bid. When I called to set an appointment for a quote there weren't any sales agents immediately available, but the service manager, Kai, volunteered to come out and talk with me and see what needed done. I liked Kai a lot, he was friendly and very up front/straight forward; not trying to "upsell" me on things. He explained what he would do/what needed to be done, and he was the only person of the 4 companies that actually gave me a load calculation for my house (came out to ~3.3 tons, warranting needing a 3.5 ton unit). He gave me a couple of different quotes with different brands. Once I settled on Interstate we set-up an appointment for the following Monday to start the install. The install was expected to take approximately 4 days (a lot of it was running duct work, and my house is a bit 'geometrically challenged' when it comes to the attic). The install guys Michael and I think Nick were great. They were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I felt comfortable leaving them alone at my house for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th days; only coming home on the 4th day when they were finishing up to go over everything and run through a test to make sure everything worked. I've now been through a winter with the new furnace and a few days of warm weather with the A/C. Everything has worked great. I plan to continue to use Interstate for my maintenance/service.

Matt came out late in the day, within a couple hours of my initial call to Interstate. After listening to my description of the problem he began his troubleshooting and quickly located the trouble. After showing me photo's of the failed components and describing what had happened he then gave me several solutions and allowed me to choose what level of work he would perform. After repairing the problem that evening, along with the invoice for the repairs he also gave me estimates on what the costs would be if this issue recurred. I was fully satisfied with his work, his explanations and his estimates.

When I called to make the appointment, they had someone available right away. I wasn't available until later, so I scheduled for a later time frame and when it was that time, they called me immediately to let me know someone was available. It was almost to the point that it was a little annoying, because I was busy and just expected that they would show up at my house at the expected time without having to call me three times to confirm. So they were very punctual and did show up exactly when I expected. When he came, he told me that they always do an inspection of the system so that they can get a full picture of everything before going straight to the issue. It only took him about 20 minutes or so to do, then he went to work figuring out the problem. It was an easy fix (something I actually could have done myself) but since he was there I let him go ahead and fix it. While fixing it took him about an hour, he was very thorough which was nice but I also felt like he was kind of dragging his feet so that he could put the cost up to the second level. Now, this is where I have the problem. First, they charge you $89 to come out and look, even if they don't do any work. I understand the concept, but if there is an issue it would be nice if that money went towards that. Because what ended up happening to me is that i was charged another $300 on top of that for something that I did not believe was worth that much. They have pricing "levels", determined by the amount of work they have to do. This seems really unfair to me because I don't think that all problems are equal, and I feel like they can manipulate their way onto the next level. I really felt like my problem was a level one, but like I mentioned earlier, I felt like my guy drug his feet a bit to get the price up, which was almost double. It was really frustrating to me to end up spending $400 on something that I should have been able to do myself. To me it just feels like they are constantly trying to scam for money. They have a club that they want you to join to make the initial cost go down, so it does make it seem like a rip-off if you don't join. My air conditioner isn't that old, however, so joining a club makes no sense to me. I am also young and I live alone, so I felt like he kind of took advantage of that and tried to sell me a lot of things that I didn't really need so that he could make some more money (these again would all have been "level 2" jobs so costing me more overall, instead of combining prices like I think most other people would do). Fortunately I didn't have any major issues so I didn't feel forced to have him do a lot of work. The guy I had was very nice and courteous, and he did do a good job.
Description of Work: My air conditioner wasn't getting cool so I called them to come check it out and see what the issue was. They also did an inspection of the entire system while they were there.

[member name removed], Thank you so much for the review. I feel terrible that you feel taken advantage of. I researched your ticket and noticed that he put Freon in your system. I'm sure you have heard in the news the restrictions that the EPA has enforced on Freon making the price over $600 a jug. I was happy to see that he gave you a price break on the Freon. I appreciate how you would feel this is expensive, however, yes a one man shop could do it cheaper because they have no over head or continuing education expenses. A one man shop also does not drug test, background check or ensure workers comp, and licensing requirements. I know those things are important to you because you stated you live alone. The people you let in home need to be up standing good citizens that you would let into my grandmothers home. The expert technicians that we employ are just that, and believe me those guys don't come cheep. Several of them even have college degrees in applied science. We do concentrate on safety and quality, not quantity. I hope if you have any other concerns please call me 405-794-8900. I want you to know that as a women who owns a Heat and Air company that I pay very close attention to our quality, pricing, guarantees, and the type of technician I send to some ones home. I hope this helps you understand the pricing system and how hard your technician worked for you. They are not paid hourly so the extra Freon came out of his own pocket. I would just like to say thank you one more time for the feed back I so appreciate it.

I've got very mixed feelings about using this company. First what they did well: they are open 7 days a week and came out on Sunday. Punctual, professional, and fixed the problem. What I have a problem with is their pricing. Instead of pricing an hourly rate of labor for work performed, they use a 1-5 level scale each with two different prices, member price and non member price. Matt my technician replaced 3 parts in a matter of an hour, this was after the $89 system inspection. Each part was a level 2 which means they each cost $252 or $303 depending on membership. The 3 parts together probably cost a combined total of $70 or less. So for a mere $756 to $909 depending on membership, minus $70 in parts, I paid an hourly labor rate of $686.00 to $839 which there is no way to rationalize in my mind. If it had been one part at non-member price factoring in a min of 1 hour labor even though its a 20 - 30 min replacement, then the hourly rate would have been about $230. Still high but easier to stomach. This tiered level pricing can be a rip off when more than one service is performed. Again I paid over $600 an hour and that's after agreeing to a service membership. That is the other downside to this call. I called because my ac was broke, first thing off the truck and Matt is telling me about their service plans and discount pricing for members, this all before trying to find out my ac problem. That was a big turn off. So again, mixed feelings. I rate the company high for being open 7 days a week, being punctual and professional. Tiered level pricing however in my case was a farce and resulted in an astronomical hourly rate!

From the person that answered the phone to the sales rep that visited to the professionals that completed the job....absolutely delightful! I am a CPA that offices out of my home. They replaced the downstairs unit during Tax Season....I was overwhelmed by their understanding of the need to make the replacement easy and as non-invasive as possible. The incredibly clean cut and genuinely nice professionals had to deal with a lot of existing house issues...and they fixed them in such a good natured and technically correct manner. They even offered to bring me lunch once they realized I hadn't left the house in a couple of weeks....what a blessing. The instillation of the second upstairs unit occurred last week (2 days after April 15th)...This was the hard job......AGAIN...got the same crew from the first job...and I fell in love again. As a CPA, I want business's to survive....and THIS ONE WILL... from top to bottom...well educated and dedicated. I suspect it is because they feel valued by their employer...it's funny that being kind, nice, efficient, proficient and remembering "who" is writing the check...costs businesses nearly nothing. But the outcome of that behavior causes someone like me to spend 30 minutes singing their praises on Angies List. I am proud to send this most glowing review...and I don't usually do this....but, these folks are EXCEPTIONAL

Interstate sent a representative the same day which we appreciated. The AC quit working, and it was hot! While we just needed minor service, they insisted on a full, time-consuming inspection. The result was a recommendation for about $9,000 worth of repairs. The tech eventually agreed that alternatives could be completed for about half that. After a bit of high pressure, he left after I insisted that I would need to discuss it with my husband. I didn't appreciate the pressure and way the technician tried to scare me into repairs. While we do need to do some AC work, I have learned that the problems can be corrected for about 20% of what Interstate recommended. I also had a concern about the bill because it looked as though I had been double charged for something. I called the supervisor to let him know that he tech was pushy and didn't explain things well. Ultimately, I wasn't overcharged, but the bill was confusing. He talked a good game about how his company required customer service training, etc. He said that he tech should have explained things better and to make up for the confusion he would like to send someone out to due a free winterizing and inspection in October. We set the date for them to call back and schedule it. I never heard from him again. I liken Interstate to a Nordstrom's or other higher end kind of AC company. They have a lot of bells and whistles, but you pay for them. If price is no object for you, and you want a company that will ensure you pay them top dollar to repair every potential AC issue you might have, Interstate is your compnay. I prefer a lot more value and less up-sell in my AC company.

We're very sorry that you were not 100% satisfied with your experience. Please understand that since we offer such guarantees as 100% Money Back or "Fixed Right or It's Free," our technicians have to be extremely thorough to find any potential problem. If we point out a problem and recommend repairs, then we are being genuine. We aren't just trying to up-sell. We are putting everyone through customer service training in order to better communicate that with our customers and prioritize the repairs as urgent or something that can be put off down the road. Also if we promised you a free inspection and winterization, then we will do that for you. Just call in and talk to our Operations Mananger, Justin, and he will get that set up for you.

I interviewed 3 different companies. All of these firms had high marks on ANGIE'S LIST. I settled on Interstate and am glad I did. Kia, the owner didn't try to sell me the most expensive unit but was very honest about the efficiency of each system. The two young men who came to do the installation were very good and courteous. They explained the entire process and did a terrific job. Cleanup was excellent. Both my old and new units are Carriers. I anticipate that this new system will give me just as good or better service than old system which provided 19 years of trouble free service.

He was extremely professional, his uniform was clean and ironed, he kept us informed about what he was finding. And he took pictures to back up what he told us. The people in customer service called before he came out, called to check that he had arrived, and called after he left to be sure we were satisfied with the quality of the work and with everything he had said.
Description of Work: Replaced central heating unit circuit board, replaced heater fan, secured unit vent to the outside with a collar and screws, replaced filter, checked all vents and duct work, checked outside a/c unit.

Thank you for the review. We know that many repair guys can look a little rough around the edges, even downright scary at times. That's why we put so much pride into our appearance and uniforms. Hearing positive feedback from our customers is great, because it lets us know that we're doing things right.
