Description of Work: I originally called about a thermostat that I had purchased that was not working. I called on Saturday morning, May 3rd to see if maybe someone could come out to work on it over the weekend as my Husband and I both work. Their ad said that they didn't charge overtime charges for service on the weekends. Evidently an answering service answered my call. She told me the earliest she could schedule the appointment was the following Tuesday. I asked if they could do it any earlier and she said that was the earliest. I went ahead and scheduled the appt for Tuesday. A short time later I received a call from the Service Manager. He asked me if I needed to have someone come before Tuesday. I told him the conversation I had with the person who answered the phone. He apologized profusely and said that he could get me in on the weekend. We set the appt up for Sunday afternoon. He spent a lot of time with me on the phone answering all my questions to my satisfaction. He was very curteous and professional. He apolozied again for what the answering service had told me. "Willie" came Sunday afternoon at the scheduled time and looked at my thermostat. He had to do some rewiring, but got it up and going. His service call also included an inspection of the unit. After checking it over, he found several things that needed attention. Foremost was the primary circuit board, which he showed me, had several areas that were burned on the back of the board. The air conditioning operated as it should, but the fan would not turn on on the heater. He also found that the capacitor was going bad. (He showed me that also, which was rusted out). He also asked us about a surge protector that would prevent a power surge from burning up the unit. My Husband & I both felt that would be a good idea. He explained what he thought needed to be done and gave us the exact amount that the repairs would cost. He explained that he would try to get a generic circuit board if possible, which would be a lot less than an OEM board. He was to call me this morning, which he did, advising that he had called 3 of his suppliers and all 3 of them told him there was not a generic board for this particular unit, a Lennox, and asked me if I wanted to go ahead and get the OEM. I told him to go ahead with it as we really didn't have a choice if we wanted our heater to work this coming Winter. He came out after I got off work today and did all the work on the unit that we had talked about and made sure everything was operating as it should. | |All my dealings with this Company was very pleasant and professional. I did feel that the charges were a bit high, but they do guarantee their work and parts for a year compared with what most other Air Conditioning companies warranty them. Like I said, they did explain all the charges to me before the work and it was our decision to let them do the work. | |I would recommend this Company to others. | |

Description of Work: I purchased the Special on Angie's for a free inspection and 1 pound of Freon . The scheduler/receptionist started calling my home to get the appointment set up...(she made me aware that I had to use it within 30 days).....( I purchased the Special/Coupon for the Freon). My old A/C had hail damage and a slow leak in the Freon...so I was wanting to wait until it was low before having them out... I scheduled my appointment and a very nice tech came to home. He looked everything over and showed me how bad the inside coils were looking...he also explained that if I had Freon shot in the A/C---he wasn't allowed to just put in 1 pound...(he said it may be 2 lbs...he had no idea but if he was to shoot some Freon in --he had to fill it and that any over 1 lb would be $135.00 per pound...)...so their add on Angie's is deceiving. My insurance was going to replace my A/C due to the hail damage so I didn't want to spend a lot of $ on Freon--especially if it was going to be replaced within a couple of weeks. I forwarded my insurance report to the owner of Interstate....he spoke with my insurance company and a price was agreed upon for a new system. My new A/C was to be installed on Monday-8/27/12; on Friday-8/24...my Freon was gone. I communicated with the owner on Saturday early in the day about getting a small amount of Freon put in to get me through the very hot week-end...(my home does not have windows that open...& the bedroom is upstairs)... The owner, Kai texted me back and said he would have to charge a $79.00/service charge plus $135.00 per pound for the Freon and he would have to fill it up. In order to keep from suffering from Friday thru Monday afternoon....I would have to pay him at least $349.00 on Saturday for Freon in the old system...which would then be removed and hauled away on Monday...(keep in mind I had already paid for the 1 lb with the Angie's Deal---which I didn't receive upon the 1st visit)... I found this unbelievable!.. considering I was purchasing a new A/C system from him which would be installed two days later..... I said I couldn't afford it and that it will be a hot miserable week-end...he texted back with LOL!...I know what you mean... It was a very long miserable week-end..(Friday thru Monday)... Kai, the owner was supposed to stop by to go over the Proposal/Guarantees with me during the installation.....(at this point no one had gone over the proposal with me...)...he never showed up...and later claimed he came by....(but if he did ---he would have seen the Interstate van which was parked behind my garage..)...I was in the house the entire time the installers were here.... I had to call in a few days later as there was a leak with cold air blowing into my garage; the installers had to cut thru the old furnace cover to install the new coils...things were not sealed off properly. The receptionist/scheduler...(poor girl!...who has to answer the phone each time with --Good Morning/Afternoon!...Interstate Heating and Air....this is (name)......how can I make you smile?..)...said she would send out the Installment Manager on Saturday to check out the leak...he showed up late and was not happy about coming out...(something about he needed to stop for tacos)...then he was in a hurry to leave as he had to go pick food up for the family, etc. I was made to feel bad everytime I asked them to do anything! I'm still not sure if it's installed properly...but it is cooling....just not as cool as with my old beat up system. Beware of the 1 lb of Freon Scam....as you cannot get just one pound and the additional is going to be expensive. Now I have the new type of A/C---not sure what this system will need in the future...as nothing has been explained to me. My purchase was done on the phone...my guarantees were not explained....and I did finally get the proposal from the Installment Manager...(after asking)... ....almost two weeks after installation... The Scheduler-Lisa, the 1st tech Mike, and the two installers were all very nice. The owner, Kai and his Installment Manager Adam were not so professional. Kai Harwood the owner had absolutely no compassion for the miserable week-end I suffered prior to their installation. I mailed their payment to them this week...(I was given a $25.00 coupon to use for a 2nd visit...from the first tech Mike)....I was not given the $25.00 coupon discount....not even on a new A/C system....that was just blown off as well.... I haven't heard a word from any of them as to whether my system is operating properly.
