My a/c went out on Wednesday night. I called and left a message with their answering service before they opened for the day. A person from Interstate called me back before she got into the office. A service technician was over in a couple of hours and spent most of the morning finding the problem and fixing it. He was very knowledgeable and full of information and found not only my problem but a fuse box that had overheated and was partially melted. He replaced the box and a capacitor and we were back operational by 11:00. He even gave me good info on how my system was functioning and what to look for in the future. Interstate was great and I will definitely use them again for any problems with my heat or air.

I can't praise Chris's professionalism enough. He went above and beyond and as a result, I will only use Interstate for all my future AC needs.
Description of Work: Upstairs AC unit was making a horrible rattling noise. Called first thing in the morning and left a message with their call service (real person!). My call was returned within 20 minutes by a scheduler who took my info and called back to fit me in the same day. The technician called when he was close and I was home to receive him. He identified and fixed the problem within 10 minutes of arriving. After fixing the issue, Chris took the time to look at the other AC unit and both furnaces. He identified a problem with the drain line on the other furnace and fixed it for free!

Tune up...no problems. Wall unit: The technician did not know they worked on the wall unit in sunroom, so he had to call back. Disappointing since their ad saying they wroked on Amana's was big reason I picked them. Then, he inspected and adjusted it to help keep it from making noise. Said we might want new shroud. Within two days, it was making the same noise again, and they wanted another service fee to come try again. We ended up going straight to Amana...they found another component (not the shroud) that was not working right and replaced it. Wasted the inspection fee with Interstate here. Bedroom air flow: Looked in the room, said there was nothing to be done. Neighbors son came in and looked in attic, noticed the ducts were not pulled tight and fixed it for free. I think Interstate was just tired of being in attic. Overall, quite disappointed. Any future efforts....I'll call neighbor's son.

We first called Interstate on 07/23/11 when we discovered our A/C wasn't blowing anything into the house. They weren't able to come out that day, but were able to come out on a Sunday, for no additional overtime or weekend fees. The technician (T.J.) had the problem diagnosed within 10 minutes.....a leak in the evaporator coils. He filled the until with refrigerant and said that it could last us a few days or a few hours, but he knew what needed to be fixed and would be able to get us scheduled for replacement of the coils on Monday, which was the next business day. T.J. let me know that in order to get to the coils, the furnace would have to be removed. It just so happens the furnace had not worked in 3 years, so we decided to replace it as well. T.J. was able to quote us a price on the replacement of the coils and a brand new furnace before he left. The next morning (Monday) I received a call shortly after 8am from the business office, wanting to get us on their schedule. Everyone on the phone was very nice and was willing to schedule around our work hours. They were very prompt in arriving on Thursday morning at 830a and by 1pm they were done and for the first time in a VERY long time, I can actually feel cold air blowing from vents without having to hold my hand real close to it. The next day, we noticed water on the floor in the utility room. It turns out the new brass pipe they installed for the a/c to drain was shooting out so fast, that it was hitting the curve of the pvc pipe and shooting out onto the floor. I called Interstate immediately and they had someone right out to fix it. It was really no problem at all, but they were really worried about water damage and I appreciated their concern. Overall, I would highly recommend this company. From the very first call they have shown the courtesy and professionalism you don't find nowadays. Overall, I would highly recommend this company. For once a company that tried to offer a service call early! They called and offered to send a tech before the time they told me over the phone. Due to other appointments I couldn't take them up on the offer. The tech did show up on time and prepared to work. After checking the unit the tech explained what he was doing and what the results of each step were. He then explained the noise problem. The result was satisfaction in knowing that everything was normal and the noise that I had heard was just the normal operation of the unit. The tech performed a basic check of the unit while there to make sure everything was okay. A professional all the way. I would use them again without any reservations.

The tech showed up on time and offered lots of advice on saving some money on other things than just A/C. He didn't seem to be in a hurry to get out and too the next job so we talked a bit about HVAC. I got an education on what I have, what I need and when to buy it. He didn't try and sell me a new unit, although mine is about 20 + years old. It works fine, but just not very efficient. I appreciated his honesty. When it comes time to replace the unit these people are on the top of my list.

I wasn't all that happy with them. They told me there would be a fee for coming out and it would be around $70. By the time he got here I had discovered the problem was a burned wire. He simply cut the wire and stripped it back and plugged it back in. He did some readings on the equipment and it took about 5 minutes. I helped him put the machine back together, which took another 5 minutes. He charged me $160, which I thought was a little higher so I complained to the manager and they gave me some consideration. They gave me a $25 credit toward some kind of yearlong service for one of the units. I went ahead and bought another $25 credit for the other unit. For that they will come check and clean my units before winter so I guess that was pretty good. The manager admitted that they have a policy that the technician should have given me an estimate before he did the work and he didn't do that. They just went ahead and did it and then presented me with the bill. That's why they were interested in giving me some kind of consideration. It did work so the quality was good. They did come pretty quickly. I don't know if I would use them again.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
Description of Work: Quick response, professional, knowledgeable. Our tech diagnosed the problem quickly and had it thoroughly fixed in less than 45 minutes. The previous tech from 1st Time HVAC didn't. He thought it was condensation on the line, but it was a clogged drain tube. I would recommend Interstate to my Mom!

Both of our units stopped working around the same time. Interstate was able to come the next day and because of schedule changes was able to be at the house around 9 instead of 1. They came in to do a diagnostic on both units and discovered that the Run Cap on one had blown and needed replacing, plus topping off the refrigerant. The other unit has a leak and needs replacing, but topping off the refrigerant will hold it until we can work that out. Kai, the tech that came out, was wonderful. He walked me through everything and let me see what he was repairing, and explained the process, rather than just handing me a bill at the end. We had another company come in last month that pretty much scammed us--I will be sticking with Interstate, no doubt about that.
Description of Work: On upstairs unit: Ran diagnostic. Refilled 10oz refrigerant (90% sure we have a leak, but I opted out of the leak test at this time because we are considering replacing the unit). On downstairs unit: Ran diagnostic. Discovered run cap was blown and replaced it. Refilled 1lb. refrigerant. Works beautifully now!

Our Oklahoma City weather has been unbearable with temperatures running between 103-108 degrees for over 20 days. After returning from a vacation we discovered that our A/C was not cooling below 82 degrees. After researching Angies List we called Interstate Heating & A/C. We called 2 other companies but were told that we could not expect a repair visit for 3-5 days, but Interstate came out within 48 hours. The repairman was the most professional that my wife has dealt with, watching to keep from bringing any dirt. He quickly discovered the problem and repaired within an hour. The repair operator also recommended club level service which will provide ongoing annual service. Due to his exceptional professionalism we have become club members. We highly recommend Interstate Heating & A/C
Description of Work: We did not have proper cooling. Interstate came out punctually and discovered a dirty A/C coil. The worker washed the coil and checked the charge. The system was undercharged, so he added 1 lb. 10 ounces of R-410, He checked the charge again and found it properly charged. A week later the cooling seemed to be less than adequate. We called Interstate and they came out in 24 hours to check their work, discovering that the A/C was properly functioning, but recommended working on a method to relieve the heat in the attic (160-175 degrees). Both visits were extemely prompt, professional and resolved our problems.

It all turned out fine; it was good. I thought that they were very responsive and professional. They did what they said they were going to do. I did use them again to replace a thermostat on another unit. I spent $240 on that job.

This past Thursday, we woke up to a warm house - the a/c was blowing but only tepidly warm air. I searched around online and then did a short bit of research on Angie's List for an a/c guy. I picked Interstate because of the amount of positive reviews. I wasn't wrong in going with them. I called them immediately, even though it was only 7 in the morning, and a nice woman took my phone call. She told me that dispatch opened shortly and she would have somebody call me back. Sure enough, within 20 minutes, I had a call back from Interstate getting my information and the problem. They scheduled me for that day and put me on stand-by in case an early job finished sooner than expected. Sadly, they couldn't get to me till the end of the time window (3-5), but that's to be expected in this heat wave. Kai, the tech who came by, was thorough and professional. He diagnosed a burned out fan motor, failing compressor and leaks. We went back inside to discuss options and after much discussion (mainly over how long we planned to live in our house, our plans for the house, and how we viewed our long-term goals of moving and such), we settled on a complete change out of the a/c and furnace (let's just say the furnace is the original to the house and also not long for this world). We opted for the energy star system since we don't plan on moving in the next 10 years or more. The price was a bit high but it did include the service visit, all the equipment and all the time it would take to install the system. Kai then called his boss and got us a portable a/c unit to use while we had to wait for the installation (which would be on Saturday). They did not charge us for the portable a/c unit, brought it by pronto and set it up for us. It was a lifesaver. Today (Saturday), the techs were right on time. They immediately went to work - the guy removing the furnace even brought protection for my flooring. It only took them 3 hours to set the entire thing up - including going into the attic to check the vents and make sure the furnace was set-up properly. They did a full review of the installation, showed me how to maintain everything, explained all the paperwork, and then left with the house tidy. I fully recommend these guys - professional, prompt, and willing to show up on a hot Saturday morning to install a unit. Plus - they were very, very polite.

We just purchased our house several months ago and wanted to have our AC unit checked for issues as the house was not cool enough. We called Interstate and they had someone out the same day. The service guy, who was great, put some freon in and cleaned the units. The next day the unit was not blowing much air so I called back and had the same service guy out the first thing that morning. It turned out that the coil had a leak, had frozen up, and needed to be replaced. We walked through the options and decided on a new air conditioner given the age of the unit and the compatibility of the new coil if I had to replace the whole unit in the near future. I had some things to handle on the warranty side, but as soon as that got cleared up, Interstate had someone out that day to install the unit. The installation went very smoothly and I am once again nice and cool in my house. Great experience, will use again. Note, that I did not do much checking on the price, so I cannot attest to that, but the experience and service were excellent.

Interstate was called on Saturday afternoon and came within 30 minutes. The technician was very professional and explained every thing in terms we could easily understand. 2 units (20 yrs old) were checked out and freon added. We would call them again and recommend them to others as well.

With all of the 100 degree temperatures, my air conditioner decided it was a good time to stop working - on a Sunday. I contacted Interstate and they were very professional and courteous on the phone. They sent out a technician within a few hours and had my unit up and running again. They did not charge an emergency fee - just the regular evaluation fee, which was a shock to me. The technician was very professional and efficient. I highly recommend this company.

Our air conditioning unit is very old and after yesterday's 111 degree weather decided to quit. After reading the reviews on Angie's List for Interstate, I decided to give them a try. The dispatcher informed me that they had many calls, but a tech would make it to our house sometime today (Sunday). Kai (our tech) was able to revive the unit and did so while working in 105 degree weather. Kai maintained an upmost pleasant and courteous demeanor while explaining very thoroughly our options - even though he must be exhausted. Kai represents the company very well and seeing how he can maintain his professionalism even under stressful circumstances gives this customer the confidence to do future business with Interstate.
Description of Work: Repaired run lap on fan motor. Determined bearings on motor are going out. Reset high limit. Added 2 lbs refrigerant.

I have several rental properties and have had problems with this AC unit for a couple of years. My regular property maintenace man met the Interstate tech at the property to see what needed to be done. He was very impressed with the Interstate Tech's knowledge & professionalism. I was very impressed with the customer service department at Interstate. The temperature was in the 100's and I had a tenant that I was going to need to put in a hotel if it couldn't be fixed in a timely manner. The office staff did everything they could to expedite the service calls. The technican communicated very effectively with me through the entire process. I will use Interstate on all of my rental properties in the future!
Description of Work: The motor went out and the AC unit was not running. The tech first thought there was a leak in the freon so he replaced the freon. What he finally determined was that the motor needed to be replaced. I was given a credit (freon cost) towards the replacement.

Within 5 minutes a representative had called me to verify my time and had left me a message with a number to call back to or to text back to at my convienence. All this on a Saturday night. I have a home that is 8 years old and 1850 SQ FT. Two weekends ago, the temp outside got to 94 degrees. My house inside temp was set at 68 but couldn't keep it cool. At one point, it reached 72 while running all day. I reviewed Interstate Heating and A/C on Angieslist.com and found great reviews. I made an appointment knowing they had a diagnosis fee of appoximately $80. No problem. After the inspection, the tech told me that each service was a Level-1 repair ($159). There were 3 services to be performed. I assumed that since they were all a level-1, there would only be one charge for $159. NOT the case. It cost me $159 to clean the motor with simple green which the motor was already removed for the diagnosis, another $159 to clean the condenser coils with simple green and another $159 to add freeon to the A/C. I didn't realize they were seperate charges until after the cleaning (which I could have done) was completed. By that time, I still needed to have the freeon filled and couldn't do that my self. I did receive a 10% military discount, which I appreciate. I do feel $500 for 2 1/2 hours work is WAY too much. As money is tight these days, I would not use them again nor would I recommend this company to family/friends. I gave them an overall "C" due to the extremely high cost of the work performed. I feel quality of work and price are the most important ratings so I averaged them. If you decide to use Interstate Heating and A/C, make sure you understand the charges before the work is completed.

During the summer of 2010, I had to have 2 huge charges of coolant, so I knew that my system was near dead. I began shopping for estimates in February because those are slow months for HVAC work and companies are more inclined to deal. The ad by Interstate in the Angie's List catalog caught my eye, so I gave it a call, especially after reading the many positive reports. I have had work done before by Gordon's Service Experts and by C&S, and have not been happy. Compton's just bit the dust when its owners were convicted of running a drug ring. I was very cautious about asking question of the Interstate salesman because I wanted to make sure that I would hire a reliable company. After a couple of estimates, I called Interstate back because I liked their professionalism better, and asked the salesman Mark if he could do some bargaining with me. He was more than willing to adjust the proposal to what I needed, and we came to an agreement for $9,900.00 for a 16 SEER AC unit, and a 95% furnace, in addition to insulation in the attic. Interstate got all the necessary permits. The staff at the office were good about calling me to tell me that workmen were on their way. Communication was good all around. The men arrived on time. They were clean, and although any major work like this is messy, when they left, my garage was cleaner than it was before. I even got a follow-up call by the salesman to make sure that all had gone well. I had earlier asked the salesman if his crew would expect to use my bathroom. I was fine with them doing so as long as they did not make a mess. He said that Interstate crews never use the bathrooms at clients' houses, but do so on breaks when they go to eat lunch. I offered them water and cokes, but they were well-equipped with food and water on their truck. I am surprised at how well it all went. I hope that I will receive the same level of service in the future if I need repairs or other help with the system. My guess is that I will. I wholeheartedly recommend Interstate for HVAC work. The people were honest, prompt, and fair. I do not expect anyone to work for free, and for the rather high-end system that I got, plus the insulation, I believe that I got my money's worth.
Description of Work: After getting estimates from several other HVAC companies, I went with Interstate because the prices were good, the salesman was not slick or trying to convince me that only his company had good equipment, and he did not treat me like one who knows nothing about heating and air. He also gave me options about fixing and old system v. replacing the entire system that was 18 years old. So, on April 6, Interstate and its 2-man crew arrived to change out my entire heating and air system, and to blow more insulation in the attic. (My insulation was pitiful - almost non-existent.). On that particular day, a grass fire sprang up late in the afternoon near the home of one of the workers. He understandably needed to leave, but not before a "replacement" person came to help complete the job. They worked almost 12 hours, cleaned up behind themselves, and I have been extremely happy. When the City Inspector came to sign off on the permit to do the work, he found only 3 very minor deficiencies. Interstate was very quick to get back out to fix them. The City came back to check the fixes, and all is well.

I called the company on Saturday morning and they were able to have a service tech out by early afternoon. The tech was very professional in appearance and manner. Asked initially if we had been informed of their pricing when we called, which we had and was very reasonable. Then he went right into asking about our problem and took him where the inside A/C unit was located. He took it from there and within 10 minutes had discovered a couple of issues that were most likely the cause of our unit not cooling. After explaining what he had found (outside fan motor pulling in air instead of blowing out) , he said he could make the fix. After another 5 minutes or so, the unit was cooling properly. He made up the invoice and was on his way. About and hour or so later, the unit was not cooling again and a call back was made. The tech quickly returned and discovered a wire he had not tightened down sufficiently. After taking care of it, the unit was cooling properly once again and the tech was very apologetic and kind about not having noticed the issue to begin with. There was no charge for his return. I also want to say how much I appreciated the fact that each time the tech came into the house from being outside, he slipped shoe covers over his shoes so as to keep our house clean...very professional touch.
Description of Work: One of our upstairs A/C units was running but not cooling. It is over 20 years old and was expecting to possibly have to replace the system ($5,000 - 8,000).

I called Interstate in July, 2010 to have them service the central heat and a/c in our home based on Angie's List recommendations. The technician did a thorough inspection and discovered that the firebox in the heating unit was unsafe. Since it was summer, he completed the service on the A/C and requested an "estimator" meet with us about our options concerning replacement of the furnace. The "estimator" met with us and went over ALL our options, including the tax refunds available for all units. He included in the estimate a "rebate" for all of the repairs and the service membership I purchased in July. He answered every question very patiently and never once gave us a "hard-sell". He also helped us with the 0% financing available. It wasn't until we signed the final papers that we found out our "estimator" was the owner! He values excellent customer service and it shows! The installation went off exactly on time and the technicians, Adam and Micah, were professional and polite. They removed all evidence of the old units and cleaned up everything! When it was finished, we were given a complete overview of how the unit was installed and how it works -Adam even programmed the thermostat for us! Our first scheduled service was in February, 2011. Our technician, Terry was also very professional. He heard a "slight noise" in the inducer and returned the following week with a replacement! And, I have to mention Angel, the lovely woman who answers our calls - she is AWESOME!
