I contacted Interstate through Angie's list over the weekend and promptly received a call at 8:15 Monday morning. I scheduled an appointment for the following Friday afternoon from 1:00 - 3:00 to get an estimate to replace an entire HVAC unit in my home. I took off Friday afternoon so I could be there for our appointment. Realizing the heat is taking its toll on systems and maybe my appointment got delayed because of a repair, I waited until 5:00 to call and find out what happened and if I needed to reschedule or if someone would still be coming by. I didn't want to leave and then have someone show up. I talked to someone who sounded like they were having problems finding my appointment in their system. She stating she needed to send the information to the office and would have someone call me back. Within 10 minutes I had a call back. The woman was extremely apologetic and stated that the dispatcher had called me that morning wanting to reschedule the appointment because there had been a cancellation. I'm on call 24/7 so my phone is always on my hip. My phone never rang, no call missed, no message was left. But, just giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they did call. But, since they didn't reach me, did that automatically cancel my 1:00-3:00 appointment? We rescheduled my appointment for 4:00 Saturday. She repeated my address incorrectly twice and I corrected her each time. Her comment was "you must think we sound like idiots" and that she was working from home which was a completely different system. So I rearranged my schedule again to be here, and again, no one shows. At 4:30 I called them again and asked if I needed to continue to hang around. The girl that answered of course has no knowledge and offered to have someone call me back. I declined and stated it wouldn't do any good, I had a bad feeling now and didn't feel like were respectful of my time and wouldn't do a good job if hired. My biggest complaint is, tell me your not going to make it to our appointment because there is a paying appointment you need to be at. I'm a reasonable person. I understand that. If you have your work force stretched thin and you need them making repairs and bringing in money and need to forego a free estimate, then so be it. But call me and tell me so I'm not setting at home waiting when I could be doing other things I need to do. And if the appointment didn't make it into the system to begin with, fine, human error, I understand. But don't make up an excuse and think I'm stupid enough to just believe it. I'm glad there have been many positive experiences.Unfortunately I'm not one of them.

Description of Work: My first impression was outstanding for this company because when I called in the receptionist was extemely cheerful, warm and friendly. She seemed enthusiastic to help. I'm a big customer service fan! The serviceman Cliff was a pleasure to deal with! He seemed honest and knowledgeable about his assessment. He was thorough in explaining everything. they were extremely professional and friendly! Hard to find overall experiences like this. The work performed was excellent and Cliff kept me informed throughout the complete process. The only thing I had a problem with was the price, but I'm sure I would have had that problem with any company! I feel that I got my monies worth! Thanks Cliff and the rest of the Interstate Family! I had my furnance replaced.

This is a wonderful company and I would recommend them to anyone. I called them based on their Angie's List rating and they certainly lived up to the praise they have received. We knew our A/C unit was on it's last legs after last summer's heat wave. Old system was orginal to the house and nearly 15 years old old plus it was cheap contractor grade quality and almost too small for our home (3.5 ton for 1800 sq feet living space with high celings, west exposure and no afternoon shade). Called Interstate in hopes the system could be serviced and limp along for another year. Office staff was very pleasant and had a service tech to our home within 48 hours and at a convenient time for us. Loved the up front pricing in writing they provide to you -- seems like a really straightforward and honest way of doing business. The tech tried to get things going again but the flow lines to the coil were clogged which was going to be costly to repair (probably around $1500 to $2000) and then the unit might not even last the summer as the compressor was in bad shape too. He was able to get us a slight amount of cooling going. He did have to charge us for the parts he replaced (electrical) on the old unit. The service call was $400 -- however he stressed it would be refunded it we replaced the unit. Since he could not get the unit cooling very well he did not even charge us for the 2 lbs of freon put in -- which was about $80. We did decide to talk to one of their new system specialists so we could make a good decision to repair or replace. It was no pressure at all -- they just wanted to give us all the options and the costs. The salesman was out within a couple of days (due to our schedule) and did a complete house evaluation. There were several options, brands and prices ranges to choose from and he explained each one in depth. We opted to go with a higher quality unit with a lifetime warrenty on the compressor. Plus, with the higher efficiency unit we were able to stay with a 3.5 ton - which kept our costs down. To our surprise - they didn't try to sell us something more than what we needed !!! They told us our heat unit was still in good shape so we elected to replace the outside A/C unit plus the coils / lines / electrical connections, etc. They credited us the $400 for the initial attempted repairs / parts on the first service call. We joined their service plan for $15 month (includes two free tuneups a year and other benefits) and saved another 10% on the cost of the replacement. So all in all we saved about $1000. Again - all the pricing was up front and in writing -- no surprises at all. They had several finacing options available at great interest rates and terms. Installation day was a breeze -- they arrived on time (early actually) and it took about 4 hours to complete. They took away all the old equipment and left everything perfect. We have gotten follow up call calls after each visit (1st service call, sales call and install) and a written thank you letter as well. Being treated so well has made having to spend $4800 far less painful. AND best of all -- our house is cool and comforable. If we set the thermostat below 75 we are freezing and so far our useage has been far less even now that the temperatures have begun to warm up to 90 + degrees. Very pleased customer.

I called them Memorial Day at 9:30 pm and they answered the phone! That's outstanding to say the least. They actually had a repair tech that could come out that night and do the repairs but instead I told them the next day would be fine. The repair was set up for between 0800-1000 a.m. They gave a 30-minute call reminder that they were on the way at around 0730 a.m. They arrived at around 0845 and began looking at the problem. Within 15 minutes, the technician found the problem (a blown capacitor). He had extra ones in his truck and replaced it, op checked it and finished the job in under 1 hour. Total cost was $382.00 which included a $79.00 diagnostic fee on top of the $303.00 service charge. Interstate uses repair levels and standardized pricing. My repair cost was level 2. Overall, I really like Interstate. They were professional, quick, and polite. The only negative was the rather high pricing for such a minor repair. That was about double what I was expecting to pay for that part and labor. Side Note: They do offer a service plan for $15/month that covers in the event of additional repairs. Although I didn't take them up on that offer, I found it to be interesting.

Interstate was one of six estimates I requested for our heat and air problem. I offered everyone the opportunity to see the home's original house plans that included the duct work for heat and air. They were one of two who looked at the plans and the only one to ask to take them to their engineer for review. All 6 estimates came up with a similar plan for providing heat and air to one end of our house that never adequately cooled or heated. I had called Interstate and said I do not have a current service problem but I need a problem solver, not just a service man. They sent Kai Harwood.. He is fantastic to work with as were the other service workers. I'm surprised Kai is not in sales. He was attentive to our issues just as other companies were and although initially he had a similar fix to the problem, he took the time to look at the old house plans and became interested enough to want to research some more. Kai called and asked to come back and talk to us after their engineer reviewed the floor plans. They found that our house was originally built to house a commercial 8 ton unit and showed on the plans the unit number and how it matched the deminsions of our duct work and why it was not zoned. They also explained that someone in the past had replaced the commercial 8 ton with a residential 5 ton and that was why we never got good results on the opposite side of the house. They gave us three options to solve our problemand/or to provide a similar but much more efficient product than what was currently in our home. We chose what we felt would be best long term. We chose Interstate because Kai gave us what we asked for - a problem solver and more than we asked for with a diagnosis for the origin of the problem. Even with the issues we had with the product afterwards, they were GREAT at getting here and fixing them immediately. We chose the expensive option, but our utilities are better than before and that will be a help for the long term. I have and will recommend them to my friends.
Description of Work: . They installed two twinned 4 ton condenser units outside and two 4 twinned 4 ton furnaces in the attic. It was July of one of our hottest summers and they never complained and worked long hours. It took 5 days. They used the electrician of our choice and coordinated all the plumbing and electrical contractors along with their guys. The installation did not pass the final city inspection. Turned out he wanted a special walkway installed to reach the back of the unit in our attic. Interstate came out immediately and took care of the problem. We had 3 different non-cooling problems with the two units in the attic within the first 60 days and they responded immediately - even late at night and staying until midnight to fix the problems that were manufacturer issues. Since those three issues we have not had any other problems.

Description of Work: This is truly one of the most poorly operated companies I have ever dealt with. I had three properties to service and from the beginning they could not get the schedule correct. To rectify the scheduling mishap, they offered to service all three at no cost. Yeah right .... at each location they estimated large amounts of extensive work. Which I am certain this was to make up for the 'free' service. I hired TS Heat and Air to do a pre-season on all three properties which came up with entirely different estimate of work, and of course, at a much lower cost. Companies like this should be severly fined or just shut down. What a scam! Jennifer Finley

Member, For starters yes we messed up the scheduling of your 3 services. I personaly gave the services to you at no charge. If you will recall when we visited your home we gave you options and discussed what could be done to fix the problem you said you were having. I then called you and researched for you, an inexpensive alternative with a totally unafilliated company to save you time and money, none of wich I would have gained from. When we came out to do your rentle properties we found a problem with a motor. We informed you of what we found and our price to reapir and warranty the work. Wether you chose to go with us or not was up to you. That is why we always give up front pricing. We serviced the second property and let you know what we found. I will appologize for the booking mistake, but I will not appologize for doing the right thing letting you know what we found. We did no work we charged you nothing. last time I checked we live in America where we have the freedom to choose what we charge, and you have the freedom to choose who you do business with. I could go into how we get our pricing and our overhead, garuntees, warranties that other comapnies don't have, and the stringent continous training and background check each of our technicains go through, but there is not enough space to do so on a reply. I wish you the best. Good luck.

A/C unit had gone out the day before, called them and they were out at exactly the prescribed time. The technician was very professional and did a thorough job of troubleshooting the entire system which resulted in three findings. The unit was built in 1986 and needed a new circuit board to fix the relay on the board. The technician explained that the part could be hard to find, but he could bypass the relay on the board as temporary fix so that we would still have A/C. He also put in about 2lbs of R22 freon, and the unit was back to working. He recommended replacing the unit and quoted us a price that ended up being about $2,300 more than another certified company for the same exact Carrier 410a Puron unit with complete installation. The technician was very proficient and courteous. I would probably use them again for a repair, but I doubt I would ever use them to do an install since their prices are so much higher that the four other quotes I received.

Member, Thank you so much for your feed back. We pride ourselves on being the best. It means a lot to us to here from you. You know we learn a lot from our customers, since you are the reason we are here. When I hear from one of our customers that we are more expensive on installation I immediately know we did a very poor job of letting you know why. I guarantee that the other companies do not offer utility savings guarantees, 100% satisfaction guarantees, no lemons guarantees, or installation guarantees. They also don't have drug free or background checked installers who receive over 300 hours of training per year. We pull and pass all inspections with the city. Your property is well protected and in many cases looks nicer and cleaner than before the install. We check for all duct leaks and do air balancing as part of our installs. The most important day in the life of the system is the day it is installed. Who installs your equipment is very important. I urge you to contact your city inspectors and ask questions regarding any company installing heating and air into your home. It could save you literally thousands in future repairs, permits and frustration. I hope this helps explain the difference between Interstate and the other guys. Ask them if their technicians carry the technician seal of safety. They don't, we are the only ones in the state of Oklahoma that are qualified to carry that distinction. We really do appreciate you taking the time to rate us on Angie's List. We are always here for you any time you need us. Thank You, Your Interstate Team

I picked this company based on the user reviews on Angies List. I was blown away at how professional and courteous the service was, both from the operator and the technician. They had a person on location within 12 hours of calling. He arrived on time and was very professional and reviewed the cost sheet prior to touching anything. He explained the cost structure up front then diagnosed the system. He found that it was simply a bad capacitor and replaced the part. The overall cost was about $215, which was a level one service plus the diagnosis fee. The technician was very professional and very quick. He was in and out in less than a half hour. The system is working just fine now. I am certain that any other company would have tried to replace the whole system as it was very old. I was very impressed with this company. To top it all off, the technician chased down a runaway basketball that my kid had dropped and drove all the way down the street and back to bring it back. AWESOME SERVICE!!!!!
Description of Work: The technician first went over all pricing up front before touching the equipment, then evaluated the system very professionally and explained what he was doing. He identified that the capacitor was bad and replaced the part.

Job # 211431 - Service Date 3/1/12 The service tech named John came out on time, and looked at the unit. I have (2) 3 ton units. (1 for each side of my house) One of the units was making a loud noise when turned on for the first time this spring, so I called Interstate to come out. I found a $69 A/C tune-up coupon on Angie's List that I wanted done. The Tech told me that he couldn't do the tune-up on the unit, because the Condensor Fan Motor needed to be replaced. He then said that he could fix it, and then do the tune-up, and listed the repair cost at $764. I politely sent him on his way, and he then charged me $69.00 for basically doing nothing at all. After John left, I took a look at the unit myself and noticed that the run-time capacitor was completely rusted out, so I took the capacitor off of the other unit, and tested it out on the unit in question. Everything fired up, and worked fine. Once this seemed to fix the problem, I went down to Grainger, and purchased a new capacitor for the unit for $24.46. Went home, installed the capacitor, and it has been working fine ever since. I have yet to contact the company and request my money back, but reguardless, the people on Angie's List need to know the truth about my experience, so they can judge for themselves whether or not to do business with this company. I have pictures, videos, and receipts to prove everything mentioned in this report.
Description of Work: I called them out to do a $69.00 A/C tune-up as was advertised on Angie's List.

Member, First let me say thank you for the feedback. We are not always perfect and when we fall short we most certainly want to know. We use these experiences as teaching moments. Your money has been refunded to you. We will always follow through with our garuntees. I truly appolagize for your experience. In reguards to price, of course you can fix it cheaper yorself. You dont pay a technicain a salary, medical insurance, overhead, or gas for a work van, not to mention taxes. As with any thing in this world even Home depot it is always less expensive to do anything yourself. You do however forego any waranties on a particular part when you install it yourself. A contractor install garuntees 1 year full warranty on part and labor. The manufacturer will not warranty anything installed by an individual without a license. So while I do appreciate your ability to do the repair yourself, you do give up many benefits. I hope this helps answer any questions you have inregaurds to pricing. Thank You, Your Interstate Team

Description of Work: I tried to fix my furnace on my own. After throwing in the towel, I resorted to Angie's List to find a heat and a/c technician. The technician arrived on time and was polite and professional. It turns out that the furnace started working as soon as he showed up. He checked all the wire connections for all the parts I replaced and he checked voltages to make sure they were within limits. He inspected everything and monitored the furnace for 25 minutes. He only charged me for the service fee and said if it stops working, just call and schedule a service tech and they will wave the service fee I paid today. Top notch service.

Friday night air conditioner wasn't cooling like normal, and I was afraid we couldn't get anyone to come out on a weekend. Called Interstate and left a message with their answering service. A lady called me back to schedule the appointment and get the details of what our problem was. She told me that what I was describing sounded like the filter may be clogged, and gave me some specific steps to take while changing the filter, and said that she could send someone out if needed. Once I changed the filter and followed the steps she recommended, the A/C was blowing cold again and I didn't have to spend any money. I was very pleased with the response time, especially being a weekend on one of the hottest summers we've had in Oklahoma in years. I was especially pleased that she gave me the tips to fix it without having to spend money on a service call for something as simple as changing the filter. If I need A/C service in the future I will definitely call them again.
Description of Work: Called to schedule a tech to come out; person who called me to schedule the appointment told me it sounded like a clogged filter, and suggested I change the filter to see if it resolved before sending a tech out, but they had one available if we needed them to come out.

The air conditioner had stopped running. Called Interstate Heating and AC to come look at it. My wife and I both work and they were only available until 5:00pm. We picked lunch time to meet with them. We were unable to meet with them on the first appointment attempt because, we were told, the technician was held up at the previous job. We rescheduled and he arrived on time. The unit is 15 years old and not been service in several years. Had to replace the capacitor, fuses, and a burnt wire. The technician was very professional and job focused. Did charge extra for fixing the burnt wire, but not for checking out the new programmable thermostat I installed a few weeks earlier.

This tale has a happy ending, though it didn't start that way. In the middle of a miserable heat wave my air conditioning failed to function. I have been a loyal customer of Interstate Heating & Air for several years now, so naturally I called them. They sent a representative quickly and he diagnosed the the problem as terminal -- My ac was toast and I would need a new package (ac + heating) unit that would cost me about $6500. Finding this a bit pricey, I called a different repairman for an analysis. He came to a very different conclusion: I needed a new fan motor and an electronic switch. I was angry and disappointed with Interstate, the company in whom I had placed so much trust. I was prepared to terminate any further business with them but decided to call Kai, the owner. After all, I had been happy with them in the past and if I were the owner of this company, I would certainly want to know about a discrepency of this nature. Kai's attitude and action were the perfect example of why their customers appreciate Interstate, prefer doing business with them, and how they retain such high ratings on Angie's List. There had been a glitch in personnel and an inexperienced person was mistakenly sent out on a job. Kai rectified that immediately. He stood behind the repair of the fan and switch and didn't charge me for the repair at all. Though we had a bump, it's now been smoothed out and I remain a vociferous supporter of Interstate Heating and AC. I am delighted to continue the relationship between a customer and a company she can truly count on!
Description of Work: Replace ac fan motor, replace switch.

A service tech came out, cleaned and inspected the entire heater unit in preparation for winter as part of the repair service call. He checked for leaks prior to replacing the ignitor switch and discovered several leaks. (The unit was over 20 years old.) A sales tech came to my home the following day to provide a quote for replacement of the unit. He provided several choices. Once I decided on what was to be replaced he wrote it up providing me with attic insulation as part of the service. The intallation guys arrived a week later and had the new heater, ac, and associated items plus insulation installed and running within 6.5 hours. They cleaned up their work space and the yard and left the area looking better than when they arrived. The sales tech showed up midway through to make sure they had the correct units and that the job was going well.
Description of Work: Heater inspection, ignitor went out and needed replaced. Durring the inspection discovered that there were cracks in my heater that allowed carbon monoxide into the house. Ended up with a full replacement of central heat and air unit and condenser, and blow-in insulation in attic.

We checked on Angies list for AC repair on a weekend. The highs were in the 100s all week and I did not think we would get someone out on a Sunday. We called first thing Sunday morning and Interstate came out by 1:00 pm and had the unit up and running by 2. The tech was very friendly and did a great job.

Temperature was 108 degrees outside when or A/C went out. Called a number of companies. None were able to come out for a day or two. Interstate said they could be out within a couple of hours. They called ahead and were on-time. They spent two hours diagnosing and repairing the system, in which they found that the previous repair company had installed the wrong capacitor. Based on previous experience, I thought repairs should be under $200. But, I guess you get what you pay for. The tech was extremely polite, explained what was going on and our options throughout the repair.
Description of Work: Replaced capacitor, cleaned unit

Overall, my experience with them was excellent. They answered my call and scheduled me right away. The work was done under warranty, so there was no charge. The quality of work was great; they checked everything out. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future.

Came home late at night to find warm air blowing from vents (on a Friday night). Called company first thing Saturday morning not sure if they would have time to come out on a weekend. They had a tech available and he was at my house within thirty minutes. I watched him diagnose problem (fan motor was out and not turning fan blades). He had a motor to fit and replaced it and got unit working. The job took about an hour. One thing I realized after he had left was that he did not tell me exactly how much it would cost until he had already put new motor on......so I don't feel like I got chance to say no to work (although with high temperature expected to be 106 that day I probably would have given just about anything to cool off).
Description of Work: Fan motor replaced on air conditioner.
