Well they are not as great as they like to think they are, when they installed our unit they forgot to put the vent up through the roof and then it rained and we got water damages in our garage and then last time we bought a service policy from them and then last time they were only two and half hours late so they were suppose to be there you know like their last call was like five o clock they got to our house at seven thirty so then they hurried up you know jacked up the job I don't think they even oh and they forgot to check our other unit upstairs we have two units well they didn't go upstairs and check the thermostat so no we are not happy with them, my husband said he talked to the lady that was in charge of the service agreement because he wasn't happy with the supervisor of the people that come out to repair he couldn't even get her respond and then they said well they be talking to us on Monday this was on a Friday and they never did call because they don't care.

They do a fantastic job. They call you when they are heading to your house. The office staff and technicians are very friendly and helpful.

I found Hill & Co. first as a referral from my brother, after the company put in a new heat/air unit last summer for his family, and second from Angie's List. My air conditioner stopped putting out cold air. I knew I needed a check up and that I might need coolant. The woman who answered my call was very nice and explained that although they had a full day they would fit me in. as the day wore on I became anxious that they would not come, however when I called again to check I was assured that I was next on the list, and so I was. Despite the fact that this became the technicians last appointment at 7pm he was able to keep his cool with my brother, who had decided he would handle the situation and who was slightly drunk at the time and a little argumentative by his own account. The technician, Adam explained what he was doing and what he found to be the problem, a very dirty unit, a bad Run Capacitor and that the unit was low on coolant. He quoted the amount for every service and completed the job after receiving permission. Adam was professional, polite and efficient in his work and I am grateful for the wonderful cool air I now have in my home! I will recommend them to others and use them again in the future.

Beware of Hill & Company they pursue unethical business practices. Jose, their technician came to my house because my air conditioner's condensate drain was not draining properly. He went into my attic for 15 minutes and came down and charged me $245. He said he added a $2 fitting to the line and blew some air down the line. He did not tell me how much it would cost before he did the work, he just did it... all in about 15 minutes, start to finish. You will never work for me again. Business ethics count.

We make a promise on our website that everything is upfront and you won’t ever pay for anything that wasn’t approved beforehand, and we stand by that promise. & CoThis company installed the air conditioner upstairs in our 96 year old home two years prior to the June of 2014 incident. In fact, I have referred several people to their company, two of whom replaced and upgraded entire systems. Prior to 2013, the service was good, they had competent scheduling folks and the technicians were nice. We discovered a leak in the upstairs AC unit and called Hill & Co. to fix. For some reason or other, the unit came apart and the condensation unit burned up, costing us 900.00 to replace on a fairly new unit. When I telephoned Hill, I spoke to the owner's son (who I believe took over the business about the same time? not sure). He was rude and condescending in the very best light, as I was a bit distressed that a fairly new unit would need such extensive repair. I vowed then never to do business with them again, and I was shocked when my replacement service provider charged me half of what Hill & Co. charged me in the past.

It is unfortunate that Angie's List solicits and allows reviews 8 months after service. The accuracy of reviews and the ability of companies to respond suffers. The system in question was 6 yrs old, not 2 (installed 08/30/2008). It had not been maintained by us for 5 years(10/10/2009). A clogged drain caused the customers issues. The customer was understandably upset about the major repair needed and questioned the charges because of her perceived age of the system. I explained the age and service history and why the repairs were chargeable. I apologize if it came across as condescending, that was definitely not my intent. That was the last time I spoke to the customer. She was going to find the paperwork to prove the age and service history wrong and get back with me. We performed the quoted repair as requested. I regret not following up personally after the repair to perhaps salvage the relationship. I appreciate the customer's past referrals and the kind words about our office staff and technicians. Very disappointed in the customer service with this company. They seem to never carry parts on their trucks, charges $50.00 to come to your house and diagnose and it's clearly the reason why. Mis communication between technicians and management. The first offer was $50 to diagnose problem, order part and come back in two weeks, quoted me $215 + $50= $265. I checked with my builder and he only paid $208 for toilet and I'd be crazy to pay more than the toilet costs to repair it. I called company, they had a manager, Dennis, to call me back (who is not a plumber). Dennis told me that he didn't know why his technician quoted me $215, he shows that they should only charge $150.00. I explained to him that if I'd followed his technician's plan, I'd would have paid over $60 what it would cost to buy a new toilet. He agreed to reimburse me trip charge of $50. I agreed to let them finish the job and told him that I now had two toilets gone bad (it's been close to three weeks). Their tech showed up today with the part for one toilet and told me it was going to be $215 to fix the second toilet, he could be back at 2:15p. I told him that I'd spoken to Dennis and he didn't know why I was being charged $215, Dennis said he was to charge $150, after all, he was already here but showed up without the second part, not really my fault. Technician said that was the price and I told him that I would not be using this company again. Clearly on the take. Terrible customer service on behalf of this company.

We admit we messed this one up. There was definitely a mis-communication about the part required to make the repair. The part was unnecessarily special ordered which resulted in a higher price and long wait for the part to arrive. We made amends for the price, and since we should have had an additional part on hand for the second toilet we offered to fix that one for free.

This is a strange, but important review. The company came out for a fall service check and through a series of events left us without hot water and AC at different points. We were frustrated, angry and asked for a refund on the service contract fees we had just paid. After Hill and Co had corrected the mistakes, we had another HVAC provider come out and double check. Now the important part. I tend to judge a company not by what they do when things go well, but what they do when things do not go well. It happens to any company and the reaction is a better indicator of company culture and commitment to service. Hill and Co. did everything possible to recoup after the unfortunate events. They sent another technician out to track down the AC issue. He found the problem, fixed it, explained how and what happened. While he said it was simply a weird loose wire that needed tightening, he was sincerely apologetic and offered no excuses. He was also very professional and pleasant. I sent a letter to the owner asking for the refund. In what must have been a one-day turn-around I received a letter personally signed by the owner. The letter was apologetic and reiterated the company's commitment to service and excellence. I also received a check for the refund of the annual service contract. Included in the letter was a certificate for $100 should I decide to use the company again. I very well may, and would have no problem recommending them to anyone else...

The provider is prompt, showing when they say they will be there. They are not the cheapest but their work is above and beyond. Our AC unit went out over the summer and we discovered that the thermostat we installed did not work well with our old unit, not allowing a 2-stage system to work efficiently. We decided to have the older system replaced on a 100+degree day and the two workers spent the entire day slugging through heat exhaustion to get the job done. Having recently had surgery, I was grateful, given the amount of retrofit that had to be done that it didn't take two days. They are coming back next week to replace and restore the insulation and venting in the attic of our 30 year old home.

Wow! Our Airconditioning was working intermittenly. Another company told me I either needed to have a $530 repair (which they said may not work) or replace the unit. After giving me a quote, I contacted Hill & Company. They told me my airconditioning unit seemed fine, and believed it was my thermostat. We're now 24 hours out from the thermostat change and the AC is working fine! I'm so impressed with this company. Whether the thermostat holds, they will have my business when we really do need a new unit, because they did not immediately go to a $10k replacement.

My a/c was damaged and stopped working following a hailstorm in March 2013. My contractor recommended Hill's for evaluation, at a cost of $90.00. I agreed; and contractor ordered damage/repair estimate. Details: 1. Hill's office staff seemed friendly and helpful, even tho it took about 2 weeks to schedule the original eval. Contractor was allegedly present at my home for eval. Hill's cost: $90.00. 2. The original report was about one sentence long, poorly spelled, unclear, and non-informative. Due to insufficiency of report, my insurance company denied claim. 3. I tried for 3 more weeks to get Hill's to clarify and expand their "report. " Then they said it would be July before they could make repairs. Meanwhile June temperatures had risen to over 105○+F outside, and 98+°F inside. I finally gave up on Hill's. 4. I had to stay with family and friends during the heat wave, and found a different firm. They worked together with my insurance company, got my a/c working again in quick order; and I was able to move back in.

I spoke with the customer and she agreed that some of the perceived poor service and scheduling could have stemmed from having another contractor as a middleman. Our records show that we responded within 24 hours of the contractor calling for service. The majority of the communication with the contractor was via email and we responded to all email requests within 24 hours. When the order came in for the installation we were unfortunately unable to schedule the customer until the next week. I appreciate the feedback and we will take care in the future to make sure all parties are on the same page when a 3rd party contractor is involved.

First, their office is 3.5 miles from my house. I was charged a $50.00 trip fee. I had to have a gas leak repaired. The repairman that was sent didn't want to work in the attic. He wanted to tear out bricks and tap into the main gas line on the outside of the house. It was estimated at $1,300.00. When the secretary called to tell me the price, she refused to pass the message to the repairman to call me. I called a local plumber with very little overhead. He fixed it for $150.00. Hill did refund my trip fee. I would not recommend them or call them again. .

There was definitely a miscommunication and the customer was never required to pay anything. This was a rental property and the customer was not present at the time our repairman was there. We made a proposal to repair the gas at the fireplace to full functionality. The customer chose to have another plumber eliminate the gas line. We obviously should have had more communication between the customer and our repairman, while on site. Our repairmen are available to receive messages and talk to customers in between service calls. Our plumbing travel charge is the same for every customer in the metro. A customer might be close to our office, but the plumber could be coming from 20 miles away. We have found that most customers prefer a flat rate charge, so that they know what they will be paying prior to our arrival. I apologize again to the customer for any wasted time and effort. It was fine. We had to have our air conditioner replaced and that's not who we used at the end but we didn't have any problems with them to our knowledge. I am not sure we were happy with the quality of their work but I don't know heating and air conditioning that much so I was a little unsatisfied with it but I can't say for sure that it was their fault. Their prices are a little high because we eventually bought an air conditioner from someone else so we did do some price comparing.
Description of Work: Hill & Company Service Inc. did the regular service for our heating and air and doing the annual check in the spring and in the winter. They told us to have our air conditioner replaced.

It went very well. Very well to my satisfaction. They did my house here and my brother's house. He did two houses and he gave me a discount because I was an Angie's List member. I mentioned it and I think they gave me ten percent. The service was very good. They were very professional, they knew what they were doing and they kept everything clean and organized when they left. If I have to use them again I will not hesitate. I will call them if I need service again. They were professional and they were on time, they got here and they told me it takes about two hours and they did it in two hours and they cleaned everything and they left in a friendly manner. I was satisfied with their service. They give you idea of people that are on Angie's list, I joined Angie List last year based on my brother. He's been there, so I decided to join and in the neighborhood that we were in you need professional help. They can provide good service and they give you a good price. They are helpful for your needs. It is very helpful.
