Description of Work: Called about failed AC fan motor to see if they could order. Tech came out and said it was a special motor he would have to call around to find. 4 days later when we called to find out what was going on they had no idea what was going on. Called another plumber and had the AC fixed the same day, no "special" motor needed. They left us for 4 days in 100+ heat with no AC. Had to buy a small unit ($600) to make it through.

System Installed in spring of 2013. Service Agreement was terminated by them due to unknown reasons. I only asked for services to be completed as promised, but they elected to terminate service contract and side stepped the responsibility to the individual that made the promises who no longer works for the company. I am left out in the cold, for the yearly inspection that I initially paid for, and if my system goes bad, the warranty is worthless! So be aware! This company is not trustworthy.....

Said it needed freon and capacitors. Before I called them out I personally replaced both capacitors. I walked up on him taking out the new ones I had just installed. He frantically put them back and told me that I needed a whole new unit. Needless to say, I contacted another company.

They were rude, very condescending and I would never have them on my property again. It was part of the remodeling job that we were having done and the first thing he said when he walked through the door was, "Well, this is gonna cost you about $450. Are you willing to pay that?" I said, "Well, it's part of the remodeling job and yes I do need to have the dishwasher installed and the sink fixed." He said, "You've already got a sink?" and I said, "But I need the faucet" so he said, "Well, then I have to go to town and get supplies." He left and left his co-workers here to work on installing the sink. He didn't have a hose to connect the dishwasher to the sink and he left and the other gentlemen installed the sink and the rude one came back and I have reverse osmosis unit underneath and the company who installed it said, "When you do your remodeling, don't have the plumbers install that because a lot of times, they install it improperly so call us and we'll reinstall it for you." So I said, "You don't have to hook up the reverse osmosis unit. Just do the basic plumbing." I left the kitchen and I step back in after 15 minutes and he was working on the garbage disposal and he said, "This drain stinks. I can't believe these pipes should stink." Those were the sewer pipes. He got the garbage disposal installed and I walked out and came back after 15-30 minutes later and he had pulled the reverse osmosis unit out from under the sink and had it sitting in the middle of the floor. He's in the process of putting everything up and I said, "Will that unit fit back under there?" He said, "I don't know and I don't care because I don't have to install it." I lost at that point so I walked out of the house and my contractor was outside so I said, "I don't like this plumber. He is rude. You need to get in there and take care of him because what I'm gonna say is not gonna be pleasant." The contractor came in and they got the reverse osmosis back under the sink and he said, "It's all good." They finished up and he said, "We need to be paid now." The contractor said, "Okay." He goes out to the vehicle and we wait but he doesn't come back so I looked out the front door and they were gone. He said, "We need to be paid right now and I'll be back" but he doesn't come back. Everybody laughed and I thought, "I'm excited. I can now wash dishes. Okay, I'm gonna wipe up underneath the counter and sink and put stuff back where it belongs." I looked underneath there and they'd left a huge mess. There were puddles of water, trash and debris so I tought, "Well, they couldn't even clean their mess up." I start cleaning it up and as I reached down underneath to clean it up, it's leaking. I was just really not happy so I called my contractor and said, "They didn't even fix the plumbing, it's leaking." He said, "Do I need to come out tonight?" I said, "No, I'll put a bucket under there but I don't want him back on the premises. I want somebody on the premises that's not them." I went ahead to fix some supper and wash some dishes and they had reversed the hot and cold. I had to leave the next morning and while I was gone they came back and apologized profusely and I said, "You know, it doesn't matter." The one didn't apologize to me and they shouldn't have that way to start with. I was astounded with how rude they were.

Of course he found the unit to need some things - deep cleaning and chemical cleaning of mold, totaly over $600 for those two services. I could not do it that day for several reasons (one being an emergency elsewhere and I had to leave), but tech became a little agitated and said, "If you don't do this, your heater will stop working." I told him I could not do it and listed the reasons, and he said he would come back the next day. When he left I noticed his truck said "Second Opinion" on the side and not First Time Plumbing Heat & Air. After I dealt with my emergency and had time to think about his visit earlier in the day, I decided to get a second opinion before having him back out. In between this time and before the second opinion, the heater turned itself off at night and would not always come back on the next morning when I turned it back on. It had never done this before. I discovered the thermostat had been set to "schedule", which I had never used before, so this must have been done by the tech. The heater, however, would still not stay on consistently. After the company came for the second opinion, I did indeed need a cleaning but they were not as expensive so I let them do it. They also said I did not have a mold problem. When they finished cleaning, the unit would not come back on, which is what it had been doing since the First Time tech was there a couple of days before. After hours of research, they found a wire that had been cut and hidden in the back in the element area. I cannot prove that First Time cut the wire, but my heater had never had issues coming on and staying on before that tech came out. I do know that their price for cleaning was higher. I know they contacted me at random on my cell phone, I did not seek them out. I also know that the tech was aggravated when I did not take his offer of service on the spot. My mistake was allowing someone I did not know to come to my home to begin with. I had checked them out online and did not find any negative reviews anywhere, but that could just mean that no one reported them. Always hire service professionals based on recommendations from friends and family and Angie's List, never from Better Business Bureua (who removes negative reviews), and never from just random people who call. First Time Plumbing Heat & Air does NOT get my recommendation.
Description of Work: Contacted me at random offering to do free inspection of unit. Stupidly, I agreed. Never invite someone to your home to do something for "free", it will never be free.

The quality of their scheduling was poor, their communication was poor, and the knowledge of their service representative was below average. Their estimate for services was way out of line - they were way overpriced. We didn't really have a choice because they were Associated with American Shield Home Warranty, so in order for us to use our warranty services we were forced to use them as a provider and we were unhappy with them. We were told by other Heating and AC estimators that their quote was out of line and that they were quoting unnecessary services.

First service call was June 13 to repair a frozen up A/C unit. The manager was filling in for techs on a busy day and just added freon. On June 26 the a/c unit froze up again and the water ran under the wall into the house, flooding expensive brand new carpet that had been installed the day before. This company sent a tech to the house around 5pm, and when he got there and investigated he found leaks in the evap coil and said it would probably need to be replaced. I called the manager and asked what he was going to do to help with the carpet that was flooded because he did not properly fix the a/c unit on June 13. He said he was not responsible. After a long conversation, he finally told me he had not checked for leaks on June 13 because he didn't have a leak detector in his truck because he was just filling in on a busy day. So, he was NEGLIGENT. He could have come back with a leak detector on June 13 or the next day to do what was right and find out why there wasn't enough freon. The manager would never take responsibilty and said he would have to talk to the owner about the carpet. I had to pull up the carpet, let it dry for 2 days with fans on it, and pay to have the carpet layer return and put the carpet back down. He never called back, so I spoke to the owner's wife on July 1. She promised to look into it. Over the last 6 weeks she has promised to send a check in the mail to replace the flooded carpet via email, but never did. I submitted a complaint to BBB because I could get no response, and since she found out about the complaint, responded via email that she was trying to help out of the goodness of her heart but since I complained to BBB she is no longer responsible in any way to do anything. The owners of this company and the manager have no integrity and will not take responsibility to compensate for damages caused by their negligence. BE WARNED that you cannot trust their service technicians or their management. If something goes wrong, they will not make it right and you would have to take them to small claims court to attempt to make them accountable. I have filed a complaint with BBB, American Home Shield and now Angie's List to make it known to the public that they are not a reputable company.

It went great. They arrived when they said they would and did a great, clean job.
Description of Work: I was really impressed with First Time. Even though this was an American Shield Home Warranty call, they treated me like a full paying customer. They fully photographed the broken part on their first call and then called two days later with the replaced part. The office staff helped me reschedule twice (I had company come in from out of town) and the service guy they sent could not have been nicer. Really good to work with and I'll use them again.

They were able to come out the day we called them. The repairs were very quick and once he took off the toilet to fix the leak, he realized there was a larger problem. He was able to fix it temporarily and said we may need to take the whole thing out and redo (!). He then called later on in the day and said he found a part that would fix the toilet without having to break up the tile, etc. That was above and beyond what we expected him to do.

Description of Work: ON JULY 29, 2012 my air conditioner stopped working during the Oklahoma Heat wave and drought. I called my home warranty company Colonial Home Warranty who assigned a contractor from First Time Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning. Rick who is a representative of the company came to my home on July 30 at the time stated by the customer service representative. When Rick arrived he inspected my air conditioning unit and determined that that it was operating fine because when he pressed a button at the back of the unit it came on as it should. Rick then asked where was the furnace, after inspecting the furnace he discovered a mal function which I assumed he corrected because my air conditioner started to work without failing as it should. Rick unscrewed the cover and then another panel and pressed a black button inside the unit. I asked Rick specifically what caused my air conditioner to malfunction he stated "a power surge". I noticed Rick went to his truck several times and upon returning did not offer any information to me so I assumed it did not concern me.I asked Rick what should I do when a power surge happens again he told me to "unplug the furnace unit, wait a few minutes then plug the unit back in again, then go to the thermostat inside my home turning it off then on again". I paid Rick the $80.00 trade fee required by Colonial Home Warranty and he left. Less than thirty minutes after he left the air conditioner failed again, I called First Time Plumbing and asked that they send Rick back to my home they refused to do so stating they had to turn in the paper work and pictures. I called my home warranty company also who have been giving me the run around since Monday. I am still without air conditioning at the time of this writing and today is Wednesday, August 1. I would not use First Time Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning under any circumstances again as well as Colonial Home Warranty. SO BUYER BEWARE.

Description of Work: I called our home warranty company because 2 of our 3 air conditioning units were not cooling. First Time sent out a technician and I explained the problems. He did some checking. While I was working on other projects at our home, he was busy doing whatever it was he was supposed to be doing. After a while, I noticed him carrying an evaporator coil from one of my units. I asked what it was, he explained that it had a leak in it. I asked if he was going to put a new one in and he said no, he would have to take it back to the shop and test it in a tank to see where the leaks were. When I asked if he was going to come back that day and fix it, he said no. I then asked if he had finished working on the other unit, and he indicated that he had already removed the coil from that unit and would have to test it as well. I asked why he didn't tell me he was going to leave us all weekend without an air conditioner before removing the parts or calling our home warranty company for instructions. He just said, well, I couldn't put more freon in the units while they were still leaking..... After a lenghty conversation, I told him he needed to make sure that they came back on Monday to fix the units.... He called his office and the earliest he could schedule a return appointment was for Tuesday, 5/1/12, today. I noticed over the weekend that one unit he had taken apart was over my office area and he had left an attic pull down ladder open, along with a pile of trash under the ladder area. Consequently a bird had gotten into the attic, and thusly, into my office. Fortunately, the bird did not make a mess on my office computer or paperwork, but my office sure wasn't smelling too pleasant. Also, in the main home, the evaporator coil he removed was taken out of the unit, and the unit was left dissassembled in the attic, meaning we were not even able to turn on any blower fans all weekend without it blowing unfiltered attic air into our home. He also created several gouges and scrapes in our wall, removing paint and texture, while bringing the unit downstairs. We were never told, that he had "accidentally" scuffed our newly painted walls. We were simply left to "find" whatever he had left behind. When the guy returned this morning to fix the two units, he quickly "repaired" the unit in my office area. He handed my a service order explaining what he had done. I asked if he was going to fix the one in the main part of the home now and he said no. The coil he had removed several days earlier had too many leaks and could not be repaired. He indicated that our home warranty company was going to be calling me to determine what we wanted them to do. I asked again, if he was going to fix our main unit and he said no. I was so mad, I had to tell him to leave! I promptly called our home warranty company and they indicated that they had not recieved any call or information from the company regarding what repairs they had done or still needed to do. The warranty company indicated they would call the company and see what was going on. As of yet, my air conditioner unit is still not repaired and I have not heard anything from the air conditioning company. The temperature inside our house is rising and so is mine. I would NEVER recommend this company, EVER!!!! Not even to my worst of enemies. No person should ever be taken for granted and just left stranded, without prior explanation.

I waited 8, yes 8 days in the 110 degree heat. I since learned that if the temperature outside is above 105, it is considered life threatening and they must come out within 24 hours, per their contract with American Home Shield. First Time failed to tell me that. When they did finally come out, 8 days later, the technician didn't even check the air temperature coming out of the vents before he left. I could tell it wasn't cool but he ignored me and said it would get cool eventually. 24 hours later, it was still 101 in my house. I called them 5 times, was never able to reach an actual person, left messages, all of which were ignored. When I finally did reach a person on Monday at 4:00, now 10 days later, they said they would TRY to have someone out tomorrow or the next day. They are the rudest, most incompetent and uncaring company I have every dealt with. I wouldn't mind the delay but I have had to stay in a hotel for 10 days now and they won't so much as return a phone call. I would NEVER deal with them but my home warranty referred me to them. If you have a choice, avoid them at all cost. If your home owner's warranty tries to use them, request a different company. I believe they can be fined for allowing me to go for 10 days with no air when the temperature is 109 outside. I plan to pursue this.
Description of Work: They changed out a condenser and not sure if they did anything else. Whatever they did didn't fix my air conditioner and they didn't even check to see if it worked before they left.

Our original a/c unit had been leaking freon for a couple of years. Called our warrenty company and they sent these people out. They looked it over and talked me into replacing the upstair and downstair units. We went a half ton larger on the upstairs unit because it wasn't cooling or heating a spare room. I expressed my concern with my $350-$400 electric bills in the summer the previous year. These new unit's were supposed to be a lot more economical. They did the work. The return air duct was a flimsly flexible duct with what look's like a tenth (or less) of the insulation from our original duct--actually not even sure it's insulated. I mentioned it and they said it's geat stuff. The downstair compressor has a loud clanging noice. I complained about the noice and they said it's normal, but it's way louder than our old unit and the 3 ton next to it. Had them out at least two times since to listen to it--it's "normal" according to them. The killer came this month with a $650 plus dollar electric bill (think it was over $500 last month). I've called complaining to deaf ears. I've written the customer service department of the a/c manufacture about a month ago and haven't heard a word. I'm leaving a negative report for the loud compressor company also. We have lots of company in the back yard in the summer and we're sure to tell everyone what that loud noise is! I'm probably going to have to add insulation to the return air duct to quell these outragious electric bills. I just assumed it would be equal or better insulated. I really would give them an "F" if I could justify it with the limited ratings available above.
Description of Work: They replaced American Standard 4 ton unit downstairs and put a 3 ton upstairs with appropriate heaters from Lennox. They also replaced the reurn air duct supposedly with a larger duct. and supposedly ran a larger duct to a spare room upstairs. The cost was 10,750 plus what the warrenty company paid on the leak (something over a $1000 best I remember).

They took away the old air conditioner, and I guess they replaced the heater as well at the same time. They did a good job for us. They came out at the appointed time. We had priced a few places, and their price seemed to be a little bit below average. They helped us with the insurance claim on the old unit. We were happy. It is kind of early to tell how the quality of their work is. We asked them a followup question, and they are yet to get back to us. We would use them again in the future if necessary.

At first I was upset about the responsiviness. I called my home warranty provider thinking I would get an immediate response but they do not work out of business hours. So if you have an emergency outside regular business hours call someone else, they wont call you until the morning. They showed up around 1230 and the guy was very nice and got it fixed. He showed me what the problem was and he also found a different problem. He got my a/c working again. I had to use them for my warranty but if I need someone to come fix it again and I dont have a warranty I will call them. Besides the non working out of business hours they did a great job.
Description of Work: My A/C wasn't working. It needed to be cleaned and it needed a few new parts. The coils were caked with cotton wood seed and it burnt out our capaciter or whatever its called. The guy cleaned it and replaced the part. He also changed the outside fuses and some other part that was going to go out soon.

I have used First Time Heat and Air three times for air conditioner repair, tune up, and/or diagnosis, and had two completely different experiences. I had a very good experience with the technician who was over 40 years old and slender. He was quiet, helpful, professional, and effective. However, two of the three visits were handled by a younger, heavier man who was rude, unprofessional, unhelpful and had no interest in actually working. He took more time taking photos of the damage to my house and car than he did taking photos of the air conditioner. Both times he came to my home he was no help at all and left me with a sour attitude. If you call them, request the older, slimmer of the two men.
