Description of Work: Cleaned pool; added chemicals; changed out or repaired pool equipment; installed extremely nice cover; always on time; leave gate open and check for services under front door mat; so easy to work with. The best pool service we have used out of 5 or more. Used Susan at Extreme for 3-4 years. No reason to change. Competitive. Dependable.

Description of Work: I have not been happy with my pool service provider over the past two years. The service level and responsiveness has dropped and I decided to take a chance on a smaller self owned operation. I emailed and we set a date/time. Susan and her helper showed up on time to open my pool. They removed the cover and fired up the pump. They attempted to vacuum it, but said there was a problem with low suction. Then they left to open two other apartment pools and she said she would come back. She did...and left me a $300 invoice with a note to check my DE grids. |The same day I called and left a voicemail for her to call me back with a breakdown of the charges. I thought the charge was excessive for the work performed and wanted her to explain it. As of the writing of this review I have not had a call back. Even with the bad service I was getting with my previous pool company I never paid that much to open or close my pool. I am chalking this one up to a bad experience. I paid $300 and consider it a lesson learned.

How did it go overall? Well, I feel I paid TOO MUCH OF MY MONEY to have my pool cleaned, as Susan advertises as being one of her business services.
Description of Work: Initially, hired this company for the purpose of pool cleaning as I am 66 years old disabled veteran and "new" to the knowledge of proper pool maintenance; and it looked like a "green swamp." First visit, Susan came out explained how her pool cleaning program worked and once a week visits would be required. Sample tested my pool for chemicals, added some chemicals and charged me $45. Next week, same thing. My pool still had not improved, still looked like a swamp and out $90. Third week, Susan suggested changing out my sand filter with new filter sand as, she explained, algae (or some bacteria) had contaminated the sand and the chemicals were not effective. Also, said to replace pump motor and housing as they were old and update from 1/2hp to 3/4hp. Agreed with her suggestions and paid $1,093. This was done while we were out of town and, after this work was completed, she finally performed ONE actual pool cleaning (vacuumed out the pool) with the help of her partner. This "actual pool cleaning" cost an EXTRA $45, as it was not included in her trip charge and chemical test. Of course, this minor extra $45 detail of "actually cleaning the pool" was never discussed. Well, when we returned home the pool was clean and looking the way it should. We were happy the pool was clean, but not so happy about how much money it cost. We are not exactly convinced everything Susan suggested and the money we spent was necessary. We think the actual "pool cleaning (vacuuming) and proper chemical balance was all that was actually needed. A costly lesson on learning how to properly care for a pool. The last point is, as agreed from the beginning, was we were expecting Susan out for the next week's scheduled visit. She never showed up. We called and left a message on her answering machine inquiring if she was still coming out. She never called back or came out. Very unprofessional!

Response from Extreme Pool Care
This review is the most blatant misinformation I have read. Perhaps reviews should be written when memories are better rather than 7 months later. I make copious notes on customer encounters. I implore, you the reader, to review the comments below and determine for yourself if services were not provided. The bottom line is Mr. Perry is a proud man that is upset that he was fired as a customer. These are the facts: Charges: approx $1,200 6 visits-- 10 hours of work which included the following: 3 vacuums, testing, chemicals, new multi-port, sand change & new hayward pump installation Customer had been maintaining his pool based on internet advice. Each time I made a suggestion he told me what he had read on the internet . This had not been a good strategy as his pool was green. 1st visit: I asked if anything was on the bottom and he stated NO. So I tested the water and added the appropriate chemicals. Had I known there was debris covering the bottom , I would have vacuumed to waste. Debris prohibits the chemicals from working properly. I also told him, there is a high probability that his sand is infested with algae and going right back into pool. Mr. Perry let me know that the sand was less than a year old. Unfortunately, time in the filter is not the issue, it is what have you run through it. 2nd visit: Pool was a lighter shade of green, therefore, I vacuumed the pool to waste. After being told there was nothing on the bottom, we found it to be covered in debris. We vacuumed for 1.5 hours. Factual error #1 Pools are my business so I knew the sand was infested. I took out a sample of sand and showed it to the customer. He said, "Oh"! He asked me how much I charged, I told him and he said, 'let me talk to my wife I might be able to do it myself'. A couple of days later, he called and told me to go ahead and change it. Factual error #2 3rd visit: Once again, I vacuumed the pool to waste and I changed the sand. When I turned the pump back on re-circulate, it made a loud shrieking noise and went off. the customer told me that it had been doing that lately but it would come back on. I told him it sounds like the motor is going out and he said, we would just wait until it completely went out. Within 2 days I got a call stating that the pump had gone out so I didn't need to come back out next week as he was going to look online. This left the pool sitting without circulation for almost 2 weeks. Factual error #3 Before my next trip out, customer called and asked me to go ahead and pick up a pump. I asked if he wanted the complete pump or just the motor? He stated, get the whole pump and he would use the old pump housing as back up, if needed. Factual error #4 4th visit: customer was not away when I installed the new pump--he stood next to me and watched the complete installation with "helpful internet provided suggestions" the whole time. I asked customer if he would be willing to apply Flock to his pool the day before my next visit. Flock forces everything in the water to the bottom of the pool. As stated above, customer's pool had been sitting for 2 weeks without circulation. He advised, he was going out of town and he would do it the day before he left. 5th visit: I brought my system to the Perry's to vacuum out the flock. Vacuuming out flock is like vacuuming up flour and cannot be done quickly as you will stir it up. It took 2 hours to remove the flock. Pool was clear and looked swim ready. Removing the flock also removed water and the pool water level was at the jets. I called customer and asked if there was anyone that could turn the water off when the pool was full. He said, ' No, I don't know anyone'. So, I sent my employee out the next day to turn the water off, add chemicals & turn the pump on. While the customer was on the phone he stated, once again, that his wife was really on his back to get this pool ready since it was the end of July and they had not been able to use it all season. I also sent him pictures of the pool to show his wife. They were pleased. 6th visit: When I arrived at the customer's, he met me at the pool and said, no service required this week. But he did say, let me go ahead and pay you while you are here. It would have been nice to receive a phone call, customer's house is 30 minutes away from my normal route. Factual error #5 In response to his contention that I did not show up again, I informed the customer that due to the distance he was away from my normal route (and not knowing if I would be allowed to service his pool upon arrival), he would need to find another pool company. But it does beg the question--why would you want someone to come out that you felt so wronged you?

Extreme Pool Care subcontracted out the work. The experience was pretty good. They did a real good job on it except she told me that it would be a ten day job and it turned in to be a month long job. That was my only complaint. It was the hottest part of the summer. She told me it would be 10-12 days and that the company makes liners fairly fast and that it wasn't a huge deal. I guess my pool's dimensions were some what off. When the liner when in they had to come out and do remeasuring. I was not happy with the time frame. Which took about a month, but I was happy with the job.

Response from Extreme Pool Care
I regret that Member pool took longer than expected. The liner company asked for additional measurements on 2 different occasions before they would cut the liner. They felt the corner was not measuring correctly. It was measured correctly but the corner was originally built uneven. Each measurement was consistent with the original measurement. When the liner arrived it dropped perfectly into the pool. We followed the old adage---measure twice, cut once. Regretfully, sometimes doing it right takes a little longer.

Two responses: 1.) I have absolutely no idea who this person is!!!!!! 2.) I value my company's reputation too much to ever treat a current or potential customer in this manner. As the other reviews reflect, we go the extra mile.

Susan was great to work with. The price ended up being a little more than i expected but was not at all out of line or too high. We have a very large pool (about 60,000 gallons) in an odd shape that had been completely neglected for 2 years. We had contacted several companies to come out and open/clean it up and no one seemed to have time or the desire to come and tackle such a huge project. I called susan based on the reviews from Angies list and believe me I am glad that I did. I did not take before and after pics and i wish i had. I think Susan did and I am sure she will post them. Basically what i had was a swamp with a lot of critters living in it. I called Susan, discussed what we had and formed a plan of attack. she looked at her schedule and moved some things around and cleared a couple of days to come out and get started. She came out about 4 days after i called her, drained the pool, scooped out about 3 feet of muck from the deep end and pressure washed the liner. Patched 2 holes and began filling the pool by the end of day 1. When she was there she took a look at the old Cartridge filters and we determined that they were pretty much shot and we needed new ones. This is part of the reason the price was a little more than expected. The set of filters for my pool run about $800 by themselves. Had to be done so no big deal. It took 2 days for the pool to fill up. After it was full she came back out and proceeded the opening of the pool. Shock, salt etc. Once that was done and she fired up the pumps we realized that one of my pumps was bad so we had to replace that. That was $485 for parts and install. Again, part of the unexpected expense but had to be done. All in all minus the unexpected expenses the cost was right on what was quoted. I am extremely happy with the service and will be using them again. I have already decided to schedule them to do my openings and closings from now on as long as she is willing. Thanks Susan for the quick service!!! They definitely earned the name Extreme Pool Care. As a side note after the pool was drained they pulled i believe 19 live turtles out of it. One was so big it broke the net she used. The joys of having a pool in the country i guess. Thanks again, talk to you soon.
Description of Work: We had our pool drained and cleaned. Had a couple of holes in the liner patched. Replaced 4 cartridge filters as well as our pump.

Description of Work: I had a tree fall into my pool. I was able to get it removed; however, many leaves and branches had fallen into the pool which caused the water to begin to turn green. I did not have the time or equipment to remove everything from the pool. Extreme Pool Care came out, handled it, and within a few days my pool was clean, crystal clear, and ready to enjoy.
