We used to use Edge Electric and they were alright except for the very last time they came out. They weren't the greatest. I could tell the guy was grumpy but he was really just not taking that out on me, but venting towards me. I go okay, whatever. I didn't personally care about his venting because I was having an issue of my own; that's why I called them out there. I wasn't happy with them a whole lot on their last call with us. I would grade their price an F because they ended up charging us extra and they used my parts that I was going to return to the home improvement store to get my money back, but he said oh I'm using this part too. I had to deal with him ranting about his son and how a guy was smoking crack. It was bad. It was a bad experience and that's why I really haven't used them. He was saying those comments; professionalism was an F. Quality was probably in the C range because he didn't move the outlet all the way over. He got it where it's working, but it wasn't to my satisfaction, but I really didn't have much of a choice. I would not use this provider in the future unless I was just absolutely desperate and even then, I'd think twice about living off the grid. He brought all of his personal stuff to the job - not personal equipment but just his ranting and raving about this, that, and the other - and that was the biggest thing. I've used them before to do other electrical work and they did fine. But I guess I caught him after hours and I got charged extra for the after hours call. He came out there, but it was like he wanted to be off for the night; he just should've said no, we're closed. That was the big thing; he just brought all his "personal laundry" to the job. It was quite uncomfortable. If my wife had been here, she wouldn't have liked it for sure. I've got tough skin and I didn't like it.

On the plus side, they were quick, and able to come out within a couple of hours of calling them. However, that was the only plus side. My husband called to get the estimate based on reviews he found on Google. They all seemed positive, so he thought it would be alright. When the guy arrived (I didn't get his name and my husband doesn't remember) he told my husband that it would be about $1325 for everything, including a huge charge for the OG&E meter, claiming it was "destroyed". When my husband called to tell me, I asked to speak with the electrician, because OG&E provides the meter, and the meter box is FREE. He insisted that it wasn't free, that OG&E doesn't provide it, and when I asked for a rough breakdown of why the rest would be so expensive, he said, "Hey, i just fix stuff," and wouldn't tell me anything else. I told him that if he can't tell me what I'm paying for, I'm not paying for it, and he left. According to my husband, the guy didn't know the individual costs because he was working from a little book that gives him prices for jobs, rather than actually charging something relating to that specific job like supplies, labor, etc. I had the service done today, and it was $430 by very nice, very fast workers who had no problem not only replacing everything bout correcting some wiring issues that Edge didn't even catch. Side note, the meter was totally fine, didn't need to be replaced. I would definitely not use this company, and would hope anyone interested would really pay attention to all of these negative reviews.
Description of Work: Edge Electric provided an estimate to repair electrical wires along the side of our house. A power pole fell, pulling them off, and power couldn't be restored until we had an electrician out to fix it.

He did pretty good. I stood there and watched him. Everything was good work. He was a pretty nice guy. He stayed there and worked with my electricity for quite a while because it was kind of messed up. He did a really good job.

We had called Edge Electric because our dryer was not working. It would run but not heat. The technician said we had a dangerous wiring problem and said he could not repair the dryer until the dangerour wiring was repaired. He said it would cost $4500 to rewire. At the time we were under considerable pressure due to healh problems, so we wanted to get it done and behind us. As soon as our name was on the contract, the technician repaired the "dangerous" dryer connection to last us till he got aroundf to doing the repairs, two days later. Before he started working I told him we had an electric generator and asked if he was familiar with how to turn it off safely to make the repairs, and he assured me that he knew all about them as Edge Electric installed them. He did the work on March 14 and 15, 2011, work order/invoice 02036. After his work was complete, he made a production of going through all our rooms to make sure every outlet and switch was working, and they were so we paid them. On March 15 we opened up the generator cover and there were red lights everywhere, indicating that something was wrong with it. We have a yearly service on the generator which had been done just a few weeks before and everything was in top condition. I called Edge Electric and they insisted it wasn't their fault and refused to do anything about it. Our generator service company then checked it out and said the battery and starter were burned out. It cost $1478 to repair. I tried to get Edge Electric to at least talk about it but they kept insisting it wasn't their fault. It was working two days before the electric work but not the day after. I would not under any circumstance hire Edge Electric again.
Description of Work: They did some wiriing that they said was necessary due to a "dangerous wiring problem.

They were very nice and came out when he said he was going to come out. He measured the square footage of the home and said that it would be $12,000 to rewire my home. This price was about 4 times what I was expecting to pay. It was kind of unusual, the job was kind of like new construction. When I called originally the lady said that it sounded like about a $3000 job. I contacted another electrician and he came to the house and took good notes and gave me an estimate $3000-3500.

I am happy with the quality of the work done. The job was originally scheduled to take two days to complete but ended up growing into three days (no big deal). The few gripes I have are [1] after the job was completed (didn't notice this til they left) there was a wire that looks like it comes from the phone line dangling down and resting on the awning over the bathroom window and it was not like that before, [2] they left a little bit of a mess behind and around the refrigerator area (this is were the fuse box containing the glass fuses and the main shut off switch used to be) mostly dust and debris and black marks on the flooring, [3] the price seems to be on the high side.
Description of Work: My house was built in 1929 and was due for an update on the electrical system (still had glass fuses in the house), this included rebuilding a 125A service and moving all the circuits outside. Additionally, I added 3 new outlets, 1 GFI in the bathroom, 1 GFI in the kitchen and 1 plug in the bedroom. All holes were cut by me. Job was completed in 3 days.

Description of Work: I had two undercounter flourescent lights in my kitchen that had burned out the bulbs and the bulb replacements. I was told the service call would be $49 and I agreed. The serviceman was here as agreed and after examining the lights and taking the fixtures down told me the cost of replacing all four. I told him no, to replace the two that were not working. He had to go get the replacement lights at Locke's. He did tell me the charge and because I didn't know what else to do, I said okay (after commenting that was too much!) He tried to sell me a "whole house surge protector" for an additional $418.03 which I declined. The bill to repair the two lights was $393.83. I feel this was exorbitant and will not call them again. I felt the service performed did in no way require any special talent or training - it took him a matter of minutes with the new fixtures.

I am certainly sorry that you are unhappy with the service we provided. We always provide the price and wait for our customer's approval before performing a task. This allows you to make an informed decision. As for the price, you are right. It is too high. 10 years ago, we could do the same job for half of that, however with the increase in cost of materiel, fuel, labor, insurance, and everything else related to doing business today, we obviously have no choice. We still consistently beat our competitors prices. The only thing Edge Electric can absolutely control is our service, and quality of our jobs. I know you are not happy with us right now, but our work is guaranteed for life, and if there is ever a problem with it, we are only a phone call away.
