A company is only as good as its leadership and people. The craftmanship and skill of the workers is just as important as the best equipment. This what makes Comfortworks the best choice for a geothermal system installation. Chris, the manager/ president provided excellent leadership and hands-on supervision. The drilling crew was hardworking and dedicated. Their skill and speed was awe inspiring. Ronnie is a master electrician, excellent system troubleshooter, and problem solver. Andy and Manny did a great job installing ductwork, and they were friendly and fast. There were a few glitches and annoying problems along the way, but thanks to Comfortworks' excellent customer service, all is well. The system works as expected, and I'm saving money and saving the earth. Thank you, Chris. You and your crew deserve kudos for professionalism, skill, and work ethic. I recommend Comfortworks for geothermal installation without hesitation. Thank you all.

Years ago, I was faced with the daunting task of replacing a forty-year-old electric furnace and heat pump. I knew that geothermal offered obvious benefits and did a ton of research. I contacted Comfortworks, and my questions were answered. I started reaping the benefits within a short time, thanks to Chris Ellis and his experienced crews. Electric bills were reduced by nearly fifty percent, and we have a virtually unlimited supply of hot water. Plus, no more noisy heat pump outside our kitchen window to replace every five or six years. I recently opted for a whole-house humidifier as part of an upgrade that included a new Nest thermostat. Chris came out to confirm operation and personally set up both the humidifier and Nest (after his crew installed the equipment.) I am beyond pleased. No more filling portable humidifiers with distilled water. (We are on a well that is loaded with minerals, to the point that I had two tabletop distillers running daily.) The Aprilaire system we now have requires no cleaning, due to its unique design.) But the real star in the setup is the staff at ComfortWorks. Knowledgeable technicians led by experienced management have resulted in a very happy customer. (Even the office staff is friendly and helpful.)

WORST PURCHASE WE HAVE EVER MADE! First of all, I want to share this little tidbit of information from Comfortworks’ website, because, unfortunately, we did not learn about it until it was too late— “100% Satisfaction Guaranteed! If for any reason you, the original purchaser, are not satisfied with your ClimateMaster Geothermal Heating & Cooling System, we will repair the problem to your satisfaction or remove the ClimateMaster products and refund the purchase price, subject to Conditions and Limitations. This guarantee will remain in effect for one year after the original installation date.” HOPEFULLY IT WILL HELP SOMEONE ELSE! Installation of our geothermal system was completed on 08.10.16 and we had our first system error on 08.13.16. Since that time, we have had issue after issue and it has never run correctly. We have had 27 documented service calls (19 of those within the first year) and countless phone calls. At first, Comfortworks was quick to come out for service calls to try to fix the various problems. As it became apparent that it was a bigger issue, they started deflecting everything to ClimateMaster and communication has been sporadic. In June 2017, we voiced our concern to Chris Ellis, Vice President Comfortworks, that we were approaching our one year anniversary. Comfortworks assured us that we were backed by a 10 year ClimateMaster warranty. (There was no mention of the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee that is at the bottom of one of their web pages and it is not mentioned in their quote or contract agreement). Comfortworks stated that they were working with ClimateMaster to get our unit repaired/replaced. When the representatives from ClimateMaster and Comfortworks were on-site to troubleshoot, they assured us that they would take care of the issue and get things resolved. However, once back at the office, phone calls and texts went unanswered. Fall 2018, ClimateMaster dismissed our claims and said that they were not going to do anything else to resolve our issue. In December 2018, a Comfortworks senior technician was on a service call, at another location, and observed the same type of failure. In his words, “Everything was running along nicely, then suddenly the blower stops and very quickly turns back on and ramped up. It is the same system as yours and manufactured around the same time.” Comfortworks admitted that this was in fact happening. When Comfortworks contacted ClimateMaster about this, they finally agreed to replace our air handler and a control board; but, they are requiring us to sign a “Settlement and Confidentiality Agreement, and Release” before they will perform the warranty work. We refuse to sign the agreement due to the fact, that the warranty does not state that there will be additional terms added in order for the warranty work to be performed and we refuse to limit our rights as a consumer. After this ultimatum from ClimateMaster, Comfortworks has not contacted us nor attempted any resolution or refund for our problematic system. As the contracting installer, Chris Ellis, VP of Comfortworks, should have made this right instead of deflecting everything to ClimateMaster.

In a word, it went "amazing". Comfort Works is a remarkable vendor and a classic example of "you get what you pay for". This was a very complex project, involving three separate work teams (well drilling, plumbing, unit/duct installation), plus the central office team. To a person, everyone showed the highest level of professionalism, great communication, punctuality and "did what they said they would do". The work quality was excellent, performed with great care and craftsmanship on each stage. The process started months ago when I first learned about geothermal and its efficiency at an exhibit by ClimateMaster. I had many questions, needed a contractor and didn?t know where to start. A buddy told me he'd tried several geothermal contractors to work on his existing system. He said other contractors actually made his problem worse until he finally connected with Comfort Works. Their level of knowledge and expertise was dramatically higher than all the other contractors he'd tried. Based on that recommendation, I contacted Comfort Works and the learning process began. Chris Ellis, a company leader, is the one that comes out to estimate and advise. He is extremely knowledgeable *and* patient. He would provide detailed answers to my email questions. After two trips out to our home and carefully analyzing my current systems, he came up with a creative way to combine two old systems and connect them to the new, single geothermal system. He managed the process from start to finish, explaining or adjusting things as appropriate. The unit is now installed and we are thrilled with it. Great job, Comfort Works! SUMMARY: I'm delighted with the process and final result and give my highest recommendation for Comfort Works if you are interested in geothermal.
Description of Work: 1. Installed geothermal unit, including drilling four 300' wells, all plumbing, 5 ton unit 2. Replacing and removing two existing heat pump units 3. Modifying duct work to combine two previously separate units

This was a massive project. A geothermal retrofit requires digging of a well field. Fortunately, I have a large front yard which allowed for the proper spacing of the wells. The drilling and installation of the well-field was sub-contracted out by Comfortworks, who worked closely with the subcontractor to ensure the schedule was met. Digging of the well field was extremely disruptive. The digging broke several sprinkler pipes and control wires. The drilling company tried to make repairs, but missed many of the breaks. They never tested the system, either before or after the drilling. It was only after they left that I discovered the system was completly non-functional. Comfortworks hired a sprinkler company to fix the problems, which were many. I was warned that the drilling would leave a big mess, but underestimated the scale. I spent all summer cleaning up the mess, moving dirt and re-grading the front yard. As for the actual HVAC work, there were some minor quality control issues. Some of Comfortworks crew members are more professional than others at installing the duct work and mechanical equipment. As an engineer, I am quite particular about the way things should be, so I corrected many things that I considered installation deficiencies myself. To be fair, most people would not even care about such things. The Climatemaster system we installed consisted of two units each with self-contained pumps which run off the same well-field. It turned out that the equipment had a design defect resulting in occasional pump-lockout due to parallel pumps competing for the same well field. Comfortworks worked with Climatemaster to resolve this issue, which hopefully has now been resolved. Comfortworks did stand behind their work and continues to do so. I would recommend them to anyone considering Geothermal. My biggest gripe in the whole process was with the drilling process and poor communication by the drilling company.
Description of Work: Geothermal retrofit of my entire conventional HVAC system. The geothermal system consisted of one two-ton heat pump and one 5 ton heat pump, both located in the attic. To keep costs down, I did some of the work myself, including building an insulated closet in the attic to house the equipment. Comfortworks rerouted all the duct work to enter the new closet, installed the water lines, connected the Geothermal units and installed new communicating thermostats.

Do plan for the project to last several days and be prepared for some desruction to your yard. However, Chris Ellis made certain that anything damaged was repaired. Do plan on some adjustments that will be required along the way (under warranty) Estimated cost savings has ranged from approximately $100 to $200 a month, depending on the season. (We discontinued gas)
Description of Work: Retrofit geothermal installation in an existing two-story home to replace two 18-year-old traditional heat & air Overview: Drilled three 400-foot wells in front yard Installed one 4-ton unit and one 2-ton unit Installed two high efficiency 50-gallon hot water tanks assisted by geothermal A significant city rebate and the federal tax credit cut this price by half.

It went very will. I was very pleased with the installation and was especially pleased with the two service men that installed the unit. They were a little late arriving on the date of installation. They said the manfacturer did not have the system ready when they went to pick it up, but when they got here they did an excellent job. I think their name is changed to Comfortworks Inc.
