+ -1 moreI own a small pest control company and perform termite treatments on a regular basis. I have never hit a water line before when drilling a house but knew it might happen someday, and it did. After getting the water turned off I asked some business associates for referrals and decided on Brinkleys. Upon returning my phone call, I explained the situation and could not get a real feel for the price. He told me he had done some jobs like this for $300 all the way up to over $1000. I thought this would be a simple job so I was expecting the $300 range. After rescheduling me once and then finally showing up hours behind schedule he charged me $500. The bill was itemized as I requested: Parts: $20, Labor $480. He completed the job in 3 hours so I feel as if I was WAY overcharged. He was very responsive after the job was completed because he wanted to be paid immediately. The job was done correctly but with the rescheduling and overcharging....I will not be using him again.
Description of Work: Doug Brinkley had to cut into the slab of a garage floor to replace part of a water line that was damaged during a termite treatment my company was performing.

+ 0 moreOver the past two years, we have pumped thousands of dollars into Brinkley's-they have replaced our hot water tank, rerouted plumbing due to a break in the slab, and jack-knifed up the bathroom floor to replace pipes. At times, he has been hard to get a hold of-he has a bad habit of not returning calls or not showing up when he says, but overall, we've been please with him. This stunt is the most unprofessional treatment I've ever had from a service person. Knowing that I was without facilities and to just ignore me is uncalled for.
Description of Work: This report actually covers two visits-the first on 2/9/09 and the second which should have occurred on 2/16/09. On 2/9/09, Brinkley's came out to find out why my toilets and tub were overflowing into the yard. I have a lift station in the backyard because my yard is lower than the city sewer line. First, they didn't even know what the set-up was and made no real attempt to find out. They spent several hours cleaning out the lift station manhole and told me the plug in the lift station was bad. This was $150.00. I had an electrician replace the plug and it appeared to work for a day. On the 7th, everything stopped again. I called Doug Brinkley at home on Saturday and he promised to call Monday AM and make arrangements to come out that day. On Monday AM, I didn't hear anything by 8:30 so I called his cell phone which went to voice mail-I left a voice mail reminding him that he was to call since I was out of sewer facilities. Later that morning, I left a message with his mother at the office(she answers the phone). It is now 2/11/09 and I haven't heard a word from him.

+ -1 moreExcellent. They did make a mess in the utility room, but it was raining and I told them I would clean it up. They did a great job, were polite, and informative.
Description of Work: Replaced my hot water tank which is raised 5 feet above the ground.

+ -1 moreThis was the second time that we have used Brinkley's. Although the work performed was satisfactory, it was difficult to get the appointment set up. Both times we have used Brinkley's I have had to call them several times. The person setting up the appointments stated that she would have the owner call me to schedule the time. He didn't call when he was supposed to. The next day I would call again, and again the same scenario. Finally after the 3rd or 4th call we got an appointment. Mr Brinkley was prompt and did good work and was about as expensive as the rest. It is just frustrating when you have to practically beg them to come do your project. I've found there are plenty of other plumbing companies that only require one phone call. I won't wait for Mr. Brinkley again.
Description of Work: Installed an outside water faucet by attaching it to kitchen sink cold water line.
