+ -1 morePerfect! We had Gideon out to refinish a tub that had been refinished by another company a few years ago. He was awesome! It looks amazing! He was also able to repair, instead of totally redo...which saved us a ton. I am very pleased and will hire him if I need to in the future without hesitation!!!

+ -1 moreGideon's crew came out to scrape off the old glaze and prep the tub. Another guy came out to reglaze. The job looked good besides the drain. The metal drain insert was not removed and instead was partially glazed over and not in a perfect circle. It didn't bother us enough to ask for it to be redone so we paid and we're finished. A few days later the glaze around the drain started bubbling up. A worker came out to fix this and just smudged the bubbles down and it looked worse than before. It then started cracking, Gideon came out very quickly to repair this issue and was very gracious. We had this done about a yr and a half ago and have now noticed cracks in the glaze which is very frustrating. We had a tub at our rental reglazed by a different company 3 yrs ago that did an amazing job, metal drain insert removed prior to glazing, and the tub still looks great. If our current tub gets bad enough, we will get them to come out and redo the job.

+ -1 moreGideon refinished the inside and outside of our claw foot tub. My husband and I talked to a long time trying to decide whether to attempt it ourselves. I am SO glad we didn't! Gideon did an amazing job - far, far, far better than we could have ever done ourselves - and better than I'd imagined the old tub would ever look. He was on-time, prepped the room very well, was finished in a few hours, communicated very well, and did a wonderful job. I am extremely pleased with the results.

Description of Work: They painted our pink bathtub white, but the bathtub surface is gritty, not smooth as it should be. I have called the owner, Gideon Carpenter, the last three days requesting a return call, so we can do something about the rough surface. No response whatsoever. Very disappointing. Can you help us get a resolution?

+ -1 moreGideon and his assistant, Chris I believe, were both very punctual and professional. They did a beautiful job. We had one small problem with bubbles next to the drain but Gideon came back within 2 days and fixed it. Apparently the glaze was reacting with the sealant that the plumber used. I was satisfied with the entire process except the hiccough with the bubbles. Im a very detailed person so it bothers me that the area around the drain is not perfect like the rest of the tub but its only noticeable if you look closely.

+ -1 moreHe hung protective sheets over everything around the tub area. He cleaned out old caulk and repaired any imperfections in the tile. He then applied about six layers of porcelain glaze. The spray gun is quite loud so it would be wise to use ear protection while he is spraying.
Description of Work: He reglazed my bathtub and tile surround in five hours. Looks great!

Description of Work: Gideon refinished our vintage c. 1925 cast iron tub. He provided excellent prep info for the doityourselfer. Arrived on time. Did an excellent job that exceeded my expectations. The tub had some small chips, and a fair amount of porcelain erosion under the overflow and around the drain. He filled these blemishes with epoxy sanded it smooth and sprayed the new finish. The tub looks brand new.

+ 0 moreThe job was done in an acceptable time frame and the quality was very good. The crew cleaned-up after themselves and left no trace of being there. They cleaned the tubs during prep and caulked them after job was done. These guys know what they are doing. Now, 2 weeks later, the tubs still look and feel great. Would definitely use this service again and highly recommend. (I'm a very picky customer) I am going to have them do my countertop!

Took him longer than he expected because of a fiberglass jacquzzi tub he reglazed had tree roots growing underneath that he had to cut out!! Didn't charge anymore than he had estimated. Would definitely recommend him to all my friends and family.

Description of Work: The proprieter, Gideon Carpenter, resurfaced and reglazed a 1926 Kohler cast iron sink that I am having installed into the new home we are having built. I was so pleased with the results, and Gideon was such pleasure to work with, I decided to have him resurface and reglaze the ancient cast iron bathtub in our current home. The sink had several dings and chips, one the size of a quarter, that had to be filled. The underside was pretty rusted, so he cleaned that up and had it powder-coated black. I left the sink with him and he had it completed within a week. It looks fantastic and I can't wait to see it installed in our new utilty room on top of a black walnut countertop. Our bathtub is 60+ years in age, had some residual paint from an old DIY glaze job, some pitting and nicks, plus a drain flange that I wasn't able to remove without fear of damaging the tub or the ancient plumbing. Gideon was able to remove the drain flange and the tub looks wonderful. His prices and estimates (listed on his website) are extremely reasonable. I couldn't have bought a new tub (especially one as comparably durable as a cast iron), busted out the tub (and replaced the tub surround and sheetrock that would have been damaged as a result of removing the tub) anywhere near the cost of having Gideon refinish our tub. Not to mention avoiding the back-breaking labor of swinging a sledge hammer to bust up the tub and the considerable time saved by having Gideon spend four hours at my home doing his magic. Gideon is always professional, courteous, extremely prompt in returning my calls, shows up when he says he will and does what he says he will do. He is super-friendly, just a down-to-earth, good person, and didn't mind my dogs supervising him! I would recommend Gideon and Bathroom Magic for anyone in need of resurfacing/refinishing. Kim
