+ -1 moreI contacted Joe on 6/4/20. I have used this company several times in the last 7 years with no problem. He told me that it would approx 10 days due to heavy volume and he would call me when he had a closer date. I waited until 6/17 and left a message with no response. I called again on 6/22 and left another message. joe called back on 6/23 and a date was set up for 6/26. I adjusted my work schedule to be home. No show!! I texted him the next day with no response. Wasted time and out of sprinkler system for close to month

Description of Work: Our automatic sprinkler system posted an error message and would not sprinkle. Called Sooner Irrigation (located on Bluebird or Bluebell St.) for appointment. They notified us that they charge $75 per hour, plus parts. Okay, we scheduled an appointment. We got the bill: (1) $75 for the 15 minutes he spent looking at the system; (2) $75 to bring out the new part and 15 minutes to install it; and (3) $60 for the cost of new part. Upon his departure, the technician said he had run the entire system thru its paces and everything worked just fine. Two hours later, we tried to water the yard. The same error message was posted, and the system DID NOT WORK. Called Sooner Irrigation a couple of times; got the run-around; and an offer to schedule another service call...for another $75. NO THANKS. Called a different company out for a ""sprinkler check up."" $300 later,our system worked perfectly; 6 or 7 broken sprinkler heads had been replaced and all heads pointed toward the grass. Sooner Irrigation seemed more interested in collecting multiple charges of $75 per hour than worrying about customer service, competent repairs and repeat business. (N.e.v.e.r Again.)

+ -1 moreHe determined that the pipe was not broken and fixed the sprinkler head. That was in June and we've had no further problems with it. He cleaned up the area - and that was difficult because of the muddy area. I would recommend them, and I would use them again.

I received an invoice by mail several days later listing services and parts well beyond the few heads I had wanted fixed--and a bill for $352. When I had similar work done last year by another provider, the cost was well less than half that. I won't be using this outfit again.

+ -1 moreAfter a highly frustrating experience with another company, I called Sooner Irrigation based on reviews posted here on Angie's List. I also called 3 other companies on the same date (Friday, May 23, 2014). I had to leave voice mails with all of them, and the only one to call back that same day was Sooner. The woman who returned the call was knowledgeable and helpful, giving me specific products and prices. Because the company was so busy, the earliest time that the work could be scheduled was the first week of June. Later she called back and said that, because my job was inside, in my garage, they could do it while the forecasted rain would cause cancellations of other outside jobs. Because of her good thinking, the work was scheduled for Tuesday, May 27?9 days earlier than originally quoted. I received a reminder call that Tuesday morning, and the installer came on time as promised. He installed the controller, set the cycles the way I requested and explained the operation to me. It was very refreshing to have a company respond promptly and show some respect for a customer.
Description of Work: Installed a new controller for my 9-year-old irrigation system. The Rainbird controller had completely failed.

+ -1 moreI am very happy with the service provided. I was contacted the same day I called for an estimate and he gave me an approximate date that work would be done. He also contacted me again before the work began to let me know how the schedule was looking. The installers showed up as promised and worked constantly for 3 days. Everyone was polite, hard working and kept me informed as to what they were doing. There was a follow-up about a week later and a demonstration as to how to operate the system and a promise to come back in a couple of weeks to fill in areas that may have settled. I could not have asked for better communication and work done. I especially liked that they stayed in contact as one other company I called had promised a call back for an estimate and that was never received.

He's a little slow on getting his quote into me but he did contact me. He had some medical issues that he had to take care of. He provided all the information I asked him for.

+ 0 moreHe might say "by appointment" but thats not really true. He puts your name on a list and when your name comes up he calls to see if he can come by with in the hour. If not you have to wait for another random day for him to call back and ask the same question. I don't know of many people that can just cut out of work at a moments notice to meet someone at home. When we did get him to come by it was two men in an unmarked van he never introduced their-selves. They just asked my wife to open the garage door. After about an hour of digging they disappeared without saying anything. I called the owner and told him this and he got a kick out of it. I didn't think it was very funny to leave my garage door open with no notice and for anyone to walk by and steal what they wanted from my garage. So for a month now I've been trying to get him to come back and finish the work. Yet still its the same thing. Call, "can i come by now", "no?", "ok, I'll try again later".

Description of Work: Joe and his crew installed a new sprinkler system in our front yard. Our previous system was about 30 years old and there were several broken pipes so after speaking with Joe, I decided to install a completely new system. He also provided me with an estimate to repair the old system. I chose Sooner Irrigation due to its high rating on Angie's List and I could not be more pleased. I called Joe on Monday and he came out that afternoon to discuss our needs and to provide an estimate. I was extremely impressed with his knowledge, courtesy and professionalism. I engaged him to commence installation starting on Thursday, March 28, 2013. He engaged Okie to come out on Tuesday to flag all of the utility and cable lines, etc. Thursday morning, Joe and his crew arrived at 8:30 and seriously, they worked all day. They finished up this morning after again arriving bright and early. Joe walked me through the mechanics of setting the sprinklers and then set the different zones to go off on the days and times allowed by the City of Norman. I even video taped his presentation to show my husband. He also showed me the different zones and showed me how the sprinklers in each zone would work. I chose to have soaking sprinklers put in the flower, rose and shrub areas with regular sprinklers on the lawn. Joe and his crew were extremely professional, courteous and knowledgable. I recommend him to my friends and certainly other Angie's List members.

We did a lot of research and talked to several contractors that tried to convince us to just let them install what they thought we ?needed? without any further input from us. Then we met Joe Elliott, the owner of Sooner Irrigation. We had a unique situation that required a much needed drainage system to be installed at the same time as the irrigation system and Joe was able to visualize the project and was willing to work with us to completion. Joe is very serious about his company and does much of the work himself and stays on site when his crew arrives. Joe also keeps up with changes in irrigation technology and knows it from top to bottom. No other contractor came close to quality we found in Joe Elliott and Sooner Irrigation. We feel lucky to have chosen him as our contractor.

+ -1 moreJoe Elliott was punctual and was thorough in his evaluation of my existing system. He gave me a detailed explanation of his recommendation and his price was reasonable. I scheduled the work to be done and he and his crew showed up on time and got right to work. The work was completed 4-5 hours later with no surprises or crisis and the price was as he quoted. Mr. Elliott was very good at communicating and ansered his phone anytime I called him with the exception of one time when I left a message and he called me back that day.
Description of Work: My existing sprinkler system is 12 years old and needed to be overhauled. Sooner Irrigation repositioned sprinkler heads, replaced sprinkler heads as well as added another zone to the system.
