The job was finished in 17 days (not 8). The floors look terrible and everything that Larry and the guys at CBS construction did is going to have to be stripped, ground up and re-done. We have had several contractors and floor guys out to our house to get several opinions and they all say the same thing. The job was worse than "amateur" and everyone of them shakes their head at how awful it looks. The "skim coat" throughout most of the house was never ground down so it is wavy and holds water in many places. In order for us to put any type of other floor down (wood, carpet, tile) the "skim coat" has to be ground down because of it being so uneven. Our baseboards are chipped throughout the house and there is stain all over them and the walls. There are many areas in almost all the rooms where it looks like they tried to just paint the stain on the walls, with a color that doesn't match. They even painted the side of our bathtub! There was NO prep work done other than some plastic hung in the doorways as I was in and out the entire job. Our baseboards are going to have to be replaced in every room that had tile (kitchen, breakfast area, sun room, and all 3 bathrooms). At one point when they were grinding cement in one room, I walked into the house and the air conditioner was at 60 and running on full blast, all the windows and doors were closed and the house was a giant cloud of concrete dust! I had to pay a cleaning crew to come in 2 days in a row ($700) along with A/C people to clear out the ducts ($400) and we are still battling the dust. I can monitor and change the A/C from my phone so I know the entire time Larry and his guys kept turning the A/C down because I would constantly turn it up. Our monitoring system also allows us to see what is happening in the house along with knowing when any of the doors or windows are opened and locked. Larry told me many times how much he was working when in actuality I already knew how much he was not working. There was so much dust that when they put the sealer on the dust settled into the sealer so the floors ALWAYS look dirty. There are footprints throughout the house under the sealer. The "border" has many areas where he screwed up the lines and it goes straight out to nowhere land or areas where the border doesn't connect and it looks really bad. I did mention a few of them that he was supposed to fix but he never did. The 2 colors that were supposed to be different are almost exactly the same. We have had to replace every toilet in the downstairs as they messed them up when doing the floors. I took pictures of everything. None of this is an exaggeration. I am so frustrated at this point that we basically wasted $6500 on something that will have to be completely redone. We have a beautiful new home that we can't even be comfortable in because the floors look terrible! I cannot find them anywhere on the internet, other than their own website so I wanted to make sure that someone else does not make the same mistake and waste their money on someone that says they can do a job when it is obvious that they did not know what they were doing (backed by 4-5 professional opinions).
Description of Work: We took out all of the carpet and tile in the downstairs of our house (approx. 2700sf) and Larry was going to replace it with stained concrete. The concrete design was supposed to have an 8 inch border throughout the house with 2 different colors of stain. We were told it would take approximately 8 days and the hardest part would be the prep work because everything has to be taped up in order to avoid mess. The contract included the removal of the carpet and tile, the prep work to lay the concrete and stain, and clean up of the job site.
